Saoirse Ronan Loves the Host Characters First and Romance Second

Saoirse Ronan chatted with The Irish Independent yesterday about her involvement playing Melanie/Wanderer in The Host.

“It’s a given at this stage that romantic stories are going to be offered to me but I’m more interested in the story and characters. It’s just not important if there are love scenes in it…I have two different characters who are in love with different men…The good thing was that I got on so well with Max and Jake. I knew them both before we started filming and we were very comfortable working together.”

Check out more on the Irish Independent including how Saoirse Ronan spent her 18th birthday on the set of The Host!

Kristen Stewart in June 2012 Elle Magazine

Kristen Stewart is on the June 2012 cover of Elle. Here are some highlights from the online version.

On her first memory of her mother Jules, a Hollywood script supervisor: “I would stay up and wait for her. I wasn’t even big enough to hug her yet. I would just run in and wrap myself around her leg. I loved going through her bag. There was such a particular smell. That’s a real sensory memory for me. I was always wondering, like, Where were you today? I know that’s why I’ve always been like, Wow! Movies!”

Michael Sheen Drawing Up For Charity Auction

Usually when you see these celebrity doodle auctions the work frankly isn’t that good. They can be fun pieces of nostalgia, but a lot of people’s talents are better suited to the screen than anything to do with drawing.

So it seems that Michael Sheen is the exception to our experience! Michael Sheen can draw! Who knew?

According to Michael Sheen UK:

The US National Doodle Dayorganisation have a doodle from Michael Sheen up for auction on Ebay. The drawing shows a detailed view of New York from the top floor of Queens Medical Centre. Other celebrities contributing this year are Gillian Anderson, Rowan Atkinson, Rosanne Barr, and Jeff Bridges.

Back in 2010 Michael submitted a doodle to the UK Doodle Day charity, and the auction raised £255 for his picture alone.

At the time of this posting, the high bid (which we are sure will change) is up to $89.00. You can enter your bid here

Taylor Lautner to Beat Out Robert Pattinson on Celebrity 100 List

This one took us by surprise. Forbes magazine is getting ready to debut their annual celebrity 100 list and they dropped a few hints at what to expect.

Our Celebrity 100 list will go live on Wednesday at 10 a.m. The annual list spotlights the celebs with the most money and fame from the worlds of movies, TV, sports, books and modelling. One of the biggest surprises this year: Taylor Lautner makes his debut while Robert Pattinson drops off the list.

Both Twilight stars earned the same amount of money over the last 12 months, $26.5 million. So how did Lautner beat Pattinson? Fame. Lautner simply garnered more press attention. Because Lautner had the film Abduction in theaters within the last 12 months in addition to Twilight: Breaking Dawn, he was in the press and on TV and the web more than Pattinson.

We will post full details on Wednesday when they are officially released.

Chaske Spencer, star of The Twilight Saga film series: New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn pt. 1 & 2 is to be honored on June 22nd, 2012 at the 6th Annual Shortstack™ Charity Fashion Show. He is receiving the Barbara Harmon Unsung Hero Award, presented annually to an individual in honor of their contribution to the lives of others. Their selfless service often goes unrecognized, and the Unsung Hero Award is intended to bring light to the work that they do. This award was founded in the memory of Barbara Harmon, an incredible woman who never received nor wanted the credit for the countless hours of community service and for the difference she made in the lives that crossed her own. From working with babies born addicted to drugs, to supporting adolescent youth in her community, to assisting at the World Trade Center disaster, Barbara Harmon embodied the spirit of true heroism.

The 6th Annual Shortstack Charity Fashion Show will be held on Friday, June 22nd, 2012 at the Midtown Loft and Terrace on 5th Avenue in New York City, which overlooks the Empire State Building. Shortstack™ is a teen driven fashion and modeling program whose goal is to allow young girls who do not fit the “normal” model standards to be a part of charitable fashion events. “I am truly excited that Chaske is joining us at this year’s show,” states Olivia Mignone, founder of Shortstack. “We are trying to shift the fashion industry to become more inclusive of all body types, sending a more empowering message of acceptance to society, which is in complete alignment with how he empowers the lives of others.” For years, girls have been rejected from the modeling industry because they are too short. Shortstack was created by teens under the guidance of the non-profit agency Windows of Opportunity, Inc. to give these “short” girls a chance at achieving their dreams as models and empower them to love themselves for who they are.

Spencer, who is of Lakota (Sioux) Nation, Nez Perce, Cherokee, and Creek heritage decent, really appreciates the honor to receive this award at this chic event and feels deeply humbled. “I am so honored to be part of such a great event for a worthy cause,” stated Spencer.

Spencer is a co-founder of the Be the Shift Campaign and spokesperson for United Global Shift (UGS), an organization of which both Spencer and Hal Eisenberg, Executive Director of Windows of Opportunity (WOO) are affiliated. “When I met Chaske at a UGS event and learned of the work he was doing I knew immediately that he was a perfect candidate for this award,” said Eisenberg. “His vision is aligned with WOO on many levels and I see Chaske, myself, and UGS working together on a global level in the near future.” UGS is an organization dedicated to fighting poverty and creating sustainable communities. United Global Shift’s mission is to cause a shift in what is possible for humanity, focusing on the environment, employment, entrepreneurship, health and education by
using media outlets to promote entertainment projects in film, television, fashion, sports, advertising, and internet. By promoting these projects the goal is to cause a shift in the way people think and live their lives.

Lois Duncan Tweets Down a Dark Hall Status

Remember a few weeks ago when we told you that Stephenie Meyer’s production company (Fickle Fish Films) was in talks to option the Lois Duncan classic Down a Dark Hall? Well, Lois Duncan Just updated her Twitter to say it’s now official.

It should be noted that just because a script is optioned, it doesn’t mean it swings into production right away. Something like 85-90% of the items that Hollywood options are not made for decades or even made at all. The original option for the Twilight movie lapsed when it was an MTV/Paramount venture and then Summit picked it up.

We have no inside info here, but as a small company just getting its feet wet in the business, it would seem to us that Fickle Fish Films would likely make the film and not shelf it for years on end. Fickle Fish Film’s first project is the yet to be released Austenland that was filmed in the UK last July.

The book is currently $7.99 on kindle and $2.99 for a paperback on Amazon, hard to go wrong there.
