Tinsel Korey To Visit La Push

This just in from the Quileute Nation:

““Twilight Saga: New Moon” Actress Tinsel Korey to share her talents with Quileute Youth

The Quileute Tribe featured in Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight Saga: New Moon” welcomes actress Tinsel Korey to La Push September 8th.  Tinsel is conducting acting workshops at the Tribal School for ages 4-25.   “In true native tradition, she is doing what our ancestors & elders have taught us to do for centuries” states Chairwoman Carol Hatch, “Tinsel is giving back and sharing her gifts and talents with our Native youth.”

Tinsel Korey has been performing since she can remember; she always knew she wanted to be an entertainer. Tinsel recalls: “I remember when I first started labeling my acting tapes – I named them ‘Tinsel’s quest for stardom’. Now, I name them ‘Tinsel’s quest for acting excellence”.

Tinsel has worked on numerous films and television shows, from Steven Spielberg’s mini-series “Into the West”, Scott Frank’s feature thriller “The Lookout”, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and acting opposite Adam Beach in the CTV MOW “Luna: The Way Home”. Ending off 2008 with a lead role on an Insight Film entitled “Wyvern”, playing a neo-fem action character name Vinyl Hampton.

An artist to the core, Tinsel holds great pride in her work and breaking casting stereotypes. She began 2009 by landing the role of Emily Young in the “Twilight Saga”; and is very excited to be working with such a talented cast and brilliant directors.

“I think it is fantastic”, states Al Zantua, Quileute Tribal School Principal, “for her to reach out to the kids after reaching that level of notoriety is inspiring and remarkable. Our kids are pretty excited!”

“We are thrilled to host the 2nd Actor from the Twilight Saga to visit La Push”, states Jackie Jacobs, Quileute Tribal Publicist.  “Solomon Trimble visited the Quileute Nation in July during the Quileute Days Celebration and now to share the shores of First Beach with Tinsel Korey is quite a treat. I am humbled by Tinsel Korey’s generosity and graciousness.  I am confident Tinsel’s contributions will have a lasting impression on our youth, but I am just as certain that the hospitality of this beautiful nation and beauty and magic that is La Push, will have a lasting impact on her as well”.

Tinsel will be making an appearance on First Beach with Quileute Storyteller Chris Morganroth, September 12th and will be available for an autograph session at the conclusion of the storytelling event.”

Meet Me on the Equinox: New Moon Soundtrack Video Shoot

Death Cab for Cutie talks about their music video plans for their New Moon Soundtrack song”

“Their first idea was to go big, as in “cameos by Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.” Of course, that was mostly just wishful thinking, so they went with option number two: make a smart, stylish clip with the directorial tandem known as Walter Robot, a pair of guys known for making smart, stylish clips (including DCFC’s VMA-nominated “Grapevine Fires”).”

Emma Roberts, New Moon Fan

Apparently Emma Roberts has been sucked into New Moon. She’s been carrying it around on the set of her movie Valentine’s Day, which happens to co-star Taylor Lautner,  and reading it in between takes.

Her co-star, Carter Jenkins, even tweeted, ““Finally wrapped. My co-star @RobertsEmma wasn’t so fun to hang with 2nite cuz shes addicted to reading Twilight! Ha!”

Literally, she’s carrying it everywhere. There is a huge photo gallery. Check it out on Just Jared.

Welcome to the obession, Emma!

A Not Quite Farewell To The Twilight Guy!

Well not exactly farewell, but Kaleb Nation has finished his read through and guy’s perspective on The Twilight Saga. You can see Kaleb’s final thoughts in his blog:

“My ‘farewell’ to the Twilight fandom has been written for about four months now, because I knew the day would come when I finished the books and would need to move on to my own writing. But after I finished the last chapter of Breaking Dawn, and looked back on all the great memories I’ve made in the Twilight fandom, I found that I wasn’t ready to leave all of you wonderful people behind quite yet. So, as for now, TwilightGuy.com is here to stay!

I have a book tour coming up, which will take most of my time in the coming month, but I’m up to sticking to this blog and all of you wonderful readers if you’ll bear with my fewer posts during that time (to keep up with me then, you can follow me on Twitter). Since I won’t be doing chapter reviews anymore (at least, until Stephenie writes more in the Twilight saga!) my site will be posting more video features, news, guy stories, special features, stuff from readers and enormously epic contests!”

You can read the rest of Kaleb’s entry on his blog. He’s also going out with a bang, by giving away a Stephenie Meyer autographed novel to one lucky fan.

Kaleb is moving on to the future. His own book, Bran Hambric: The Farfield Curse is aimed at readers ages 9-12. It releases tomorrow on 9/9/09.  Kaleb is doing a live BlogTV tonight to celebrate its release.

It’s quite an accomplishment to get published, let alone get published at age 20.  Now your creative baby is out there for the world to see. The only thing for sure is that it will be an interesting journey. On a personal level, we’d like to wish Kaleb the best of luck as an author.

Misconceptions: New Moon Info Recap

Here are a couple of odd things we’ve seen lately, and we thought we’d help to straighten them out.

~The last name of Aro, Marcus, Caius, Jane, Alec…or for that matter anyone in the Volturi coven is not Volturi! Aro, Cauis, and Marcus were vampires long before people took to the custom of having last names.  Volturi is derived from Volterra, the city that they settled in. The coven’s name is like a tribe moniker. Look at it this way, referring to Aro as “Aro Volturi” would be like referring to Jesus as “Jesus Galilee”. As for Alec and Jane, we imagine they do have last names, just we don’t know what they are.

~The last name of Tanya, Katrina, etc. is not Denali. Denali is just the location where they happen to be currently located. Denali is a town in Alaska, it’s also the traditional name for Mt. McKinley, the highest peak in North America. Calling Tanya “Tanya Denali” would be like saying “Renesmee Forks”.

~We can’t believe that we are actually saying this, but judging from comments on the blog and around the Internet we’re going to repeat it. ROB AND KRISTEN ARE NOT ENGAGED despite what the headline in one UK gossip magazine read.  You know, the same magazine that faked a photo to make it look like they were sitting together. Do they have a relationship that’s more than friends? Possibly, but they are not engaged. If they were, it would be plastered all over mainstream entertainment sites like ET, EW, Access Hollywood, E!…you get the idea. When even Ted Casablanca, who is leading the Robsten charge and would love nothing better than them to be engaged, is saying the story is bunk, there’s a sign.

Jackson Rathbone In The Vancouver Sun

Jackson Rathbone talked to the Vancouver Sun about his Twilight fame and future plans with the band 100 Monkeys:

“Rathbone remembers auditioning several times for the role, originally reading for the Edward Cullen part, before director Catherine Hardwicke offered him Jasper.

“I auditioned two or three months before filming started. And I just walked to the audition because the studio was close to my house, so I’d walk there with my guitar and I played it in the waiting room.”

With Jasper, and the worldwide frenzy that is Twilight mania, has come fame, but also a loss of anonymity for Rathbone.”

You can read the full article here.

Also remember that Jackson and 100 Monkeys have a show at the Rickshaw in Vancouver this weekend. If you are in town, tickets are available. It is an all ages event, so anyone can attend.  There is also going to be a random drawing for a lucky fan to win a private meet and greet with the band.

Kristen Stewart Talks to The UK Times

Kristen Stewart gave a frank interview to the Times Online talking about Twilight, Adventureland and her career.

“I think she has a much bigger rack than I have.” Kristen Stewart is pondering her Twilight action figure — the little plastic doll that represents Bella, her character in the film franchise — while checking the proportions of the bust. “I also think she looks much older than me,” she adds, before setting the figure aside. I pick it up and, on closer inspection, the doll does look a little older than its real-life progenitor (as to the “rack”, closer inspection would be inappropriate). “It’s strange,” continues the 19-year-old actress, “but people often think I’m a little bit older than I really am. A French journalist asked me earlier on how my teenage years had affected my later life. I’m still in my teens.” She smiles. “Really, even if I was older, how could my teenage years not have shaped my life? I don’t know how to answer that.”

Stephenie Meyer Day:Pulling Out All The Stops

According to both the Peninsula Daily News (Port Angeles paper) and The Forks Forum (The Forks paper) they are really pulling out all the stops for Stephenie Meyer Day this year.  Frankly they aren’t sure how many people to expect since this is a record summer with the visitors quadrupling almost tripling what they had been: 18,000 in summer 2008 to 58,000 in summer 2009. Also of note is that it’s the driest summer in about 10 years. They are rationing water, yes you read that correctly, Forks is rationing water. The good news is if you are visiting this coming weekend, it’s bright and sunny!

They have taken some extra precautions like adding an officer on a bike patrol to assist with safe street crossing. The famous forks sign was also moved from the hill to ground level, so people no longer have to climb to get a picture next to it.

The Forks Forum has a revised schedule of events on this page (scroll down there is a TON of information) ranging from Mitch Hansen Band and Twilight Music Girls concerts, scavenger hunts, Forks High School tours, a preview of the Forks documentary…you name it.

Our inbox is filled with people asking us about different places in Forks. We’ve been to Forks twice, and we thought we’d just give a shout out to a couple of our favorite places to shop and to eat. We haven’t tried everything(so if we don’t mention it, it’s not that it’s bad, just that we haven’t been there), but here’s a shout out to what we tried and give a thumbs up to:

Forks Guide: Written by Chris Cook, the editor of the local paper. This has it all, and it’s filled with local stories as well.

Moca Motion The coffee is to die for. Don’t let the shack in the parking lot next to The Inn Place put you off. The coffee is to die for and the prices can’t be beat.

The Inn Place: A local coffee shop where we ate breakfast every day. Home cooked meals at fabulous prices. The breakfast could have you filled up until dinner easily.

Dazzled By Twilight: The have the most comprehensive Twilight merchandise that we have ever seen in one place, and that is saying something. They also do excellent driving tours.

Leppell’s Flowers: If you are into scrap booking go here. They have fantastic Twilight scrapbook supplies and unique Twilight crafts made by locals.

Forks Outfitters: Whether you have the munchies or you need a pair of rain boots. This is where you need to be. They also sell really warm hoodies with a Forks design that are so cuddly and comfortable.

Cozy River House I & II: Aside from being the only place in town that can claim “Stephenie Meyer Slept Here” these houses on the banks of the Sol Duc River are what they say they are, “cozy”. Each one sleeps at least 10 people. It is a super option if a bunch of friends are looking to pitch in.

The Forks Motel: The only place in Forks with a swimming pool, not that we used it. On June 30th it never got above 60 degrees, you’d have to be some kind of desperate to go swimming in 60 degree weather! However, clean rooms with comfy beds and great TV reception. Plus the Inn Place is across to street, what more could you want?

Sully’s Drive In: A classic burger place that looks like something out of Back to the Future. You want a burger, this is your place. The vampire lemonade drink is pretty good.

Plaza Jalisco: Who knew that the best Mexican we’ve had in ages would be in Forks.  Two words: carne asada.

Three Rivers Resort Food service: On the road to La Push on the right side of the road there is this little hole-in-the-wall place where you can get gas, supplies, and food. They always have a banner sponsored by Pepsi that says something about no vampires allowed. The place has maybe 10 tables and has terrific fresh fried fish.

The Forks Visitors Center: Get a map here, take a picture with Bella’s truck, and don’t miss the hiking trail out back!

Lastly shout out to our favorite people in Forks!

Kevin Rupprecht, principal of Forks HS who has a great sense of humor

Mike Powell, police chief of Forks who is a great cook

Chris Cook, editor of the Forks Forum who keeps us updated on Forks happenings

Rianilee Belles, Dazzled by Twilight who keeps us updated on Forks happenings that are Twilight related.

Marsha Bingham, runs the Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center
