Music Feature Saturday

For today’s music feature we bring you a  new voice in the Twilight universe.  This week the Lexicon is proud to feature Aaron Galbreath.  Aaron wrote the song “Bleed” after being inspired by his wife’s love of Stephenie’s books and the amazing love story between Edward and Bella. The lyrics tell Bella’s story of longing while Edward is away.  You can hear Bleed at Aaron’s website.  You can check out Aaron’s recent performance of Bleed below.  We also conducted an interview with Aaron.

Why did you become inspired to write a song for New Moon?

My wife and her best friend are huge fans, so I gave it a shot. Turns out, it’s a great book, great epic love story. I tend to write songs about love and relationships so I was immediately connected to the subject matter.

Check out the rest of the interveiw here.  We also have the lyrics to Bleed for you to check out and comment on.

UPDATE:  If you would like a free download of the song, you can get it here.

Team Switzerland Day

Catherine Hardwicke Makes the New York Times Best Seller List!

This just in from Entertainment Weekly:

“She made the movie, she wrote the book, and now Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has a message for all her fans out there: Thanks for helping the movie and the book (and, really, everything else Twilight) hit No. 1! The filmmaker/author just found out that her Twilight: Director’s Notebook will be at the top of Sunday’s New York Times best-seller list, so she wrote a little note and shot a little video to commemorate the occasion.”

Click here to read the note she wrote to fans on EW.

New Moon Movie Scene Slated to Film

This just in from Krystyna who runs the Justin Chon fansite and The Twilight Files. She also works at a paper (The Little Nickel) that the New Moon crew is using for props.

Hey all I just got some news for ya about the Little Nickel today!

“I just found out that they called asking for more papers today about 6 bundles of this week’s paper. That’s way over 240 papers for the rack they will be using in a scene tomorrow.

The scene I heard it will be used for is the ‘movie theater’ scene. We all know what scene that is, where Bella tries to organize a group outing to the movies, and slowly couple by couple people start to flake out and all that’s left is Bella, Jacob and Mike!”

Save the Book Babe!

Hi All, Pel here. In just a few hours I am on my flight to Phoenix to attend the Project Book Babe event. If you are going to be there, post below so I know who to look for, come over and say hi.

I know economic times are tight right now, but I’m asking anyone who is in the Tempe area and who can afford the $25 admission to come down and support this event.  If it wasn’t for the encouragement of Faith and events like the Eclipse Prom, which Faith was instrumental in making happen, that captured the media eye, it would have been much tougher for Twilight to get to where it has today.

If you aren’t in the Tempe area, please make a donation (even if it’s $1.00 forgo a cup of coffee, a bag of chips, whatever is your usual treat) to this cause. If all the people who attended the Eclipse Prom two years ago donated $1.00, and if all the people who bought autographed merchandise from Changing Hands (that Faith used to co-ordinate) that amount of money raised would be quite staggering.

There is currently merchandise online that you can bid on from various authors to support this cause, and more merchandise will go up for bid in the coming weeks including items signed by Stephenie. There is also the fabulous tee shirt being done by Twilight Teez (Click their button in our side bar).

There are also items going up for bid at the event itself (have I mentioned a dress before?). There are at least three of us bidding on Stephenie’s E-Prom dress: Dano (Danyelle), Pel (Laura), Illumin8 (Kara from Twilight Moms).

When last we heard Kara was threatening to send Flying Monkeys after me, and now it seems she has her own bubble and wand! How in the heck am I supposed to compete with a legion of flying monkeys, a bubble, and now a wand?  I’m wondering if a pail of water will do any good, if nothing else it’s hard to bid if you are distracted and dripping wet! Watch out Kara, I want that dress!

Michael Welch to Appear at Movie Premiere

According to ProNetworks:

“Producers Reel Energy Entertainment have announced that the NewFilmmakers LA festival has selected Lost Dream for its Red Carpet Premiere on May 7th. Designed to showcase innovative works by emerging filmmakers from around the world, many well known films have debuted at NewFilmmakers including Blair Witch Project. The event will take place at the Stanley Kramer Theater in Hollywood.

There will be a limited number of tickets available to the general public at the NewFilmmakers LA official site. The event will include a Red Carpet VIP screening and reception. Cast and crew will also participate in a Q&A after the screening.”

We have confirmed that Mike Welch will be in attendance at this event as he is one of the stars of this intensely gripping film. From what we have learned the film is gritty, deeply moving, and a darker project from Mike’s normal fair. According to our source when we asked for more information about the project, “the film is the realization that many young people explore and get disillusioned, but some go too far and it ruins their life.”

In his recent interview over at Touched By Twilight, Mike spoke about this film as being the most challenging venture of his acting career. On the film’s just launched official site Mike states, “The entire cast and crew saw the film’s potential and believed they had a chance to be a part of something powerful and thought provoking.”

The film is not yet rated, so please be advised that if you are going, based on the material and the description we have been give, it is definitely intended for mature audiences. Now we certainly aren’t the MPAA, but given the description we’ve been given it sounds like the film would probably receive an R rating.

So if you are in the LA area, and over age 17 try to get yourself some tickets for this great event!

UK Twilight News

It seems that UK actor, Jamie Campbell Bower, is going to be pretty busy in franchise movies. In fact he’s definitely taking a turn for darker characters after having recently played the hero in Sweeney Todd. It seems that Jamie, according to The Daily Mail, is in negotiations to play the part of Grindlewald in the final two Harry Potter movies. As any Harry Potter fan knows, next to Voldemort, Grindlewald was the most terrifying wizard out there.

Also on tap for UK fans this week is the midnight release of the DVD! the Forbidden Planet store in London sounds like it’s the place to be featuring:

“You can take the forbidden romance of Bella and Edward home early when you come down to the London Megastore to pick up your copy of TWILIGHT on DVD or Blu-Ray. Plus we’ve got goodies and give-aways – and loads of gorgeously dark merchandise just waiting for you to treat yourself… or that forbidden lover of your own! EXCLUSIVE! First 30 purchasers of the Special Edition will receive a DVD sleeve signed by one or more of the cast.

See the Twilight UK site for details.

In case you don’t really want an autograph, but want a bite (no we are not making this up) you can get your DVD bitten over a HMV. We’re a little unclear if it’s an electronic molding of Robert Pattinson’s teeth, or not. If interested talk to the people at HMV.

The gals over at M2 have released their latest parody.

Twilight Hits the Arab Speaking World

According to Publisher’s Weekly the Twilight Saga is set to take the Arab-speaking world by storm. In fact it might be more popular than Harry Potter.

“The Harry Potter books did not sell as well when translated into Arabic as it did in other parts of the world,” said Haissam Fadel, foreign rights and sales manager of the Arab Cultural Center, an Arabic-language publisher interviewed at last month’s Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. “It may have had something to do with the fact that readers didn’t know exactly who the books were for—adults or children.

We’re going to predict success on this one, and we want to take this opportunity to give a shout out to the Lexiconers who are in the Arabic speaking Middle East! According to our stats here’s who visits us:

471 people from the UAE

235 people from Saudi Arabia

47 people from Kuwait

38 people from Lebanon

34 people from Qater

34 people from Bahrain
