Glowbal Goes Global

How do you get your restaurant on the international map? Well it certainly doesn”t hurt to have Robert Pattinson frequent the joint most recently spending his 23rd birthday there with family and castmates.

Glowbal Grill and Satay hosted the Twilight cast early on in the filming process several times. It was written up in the Vancouver Sun where the article talked about Rob’s love for their Kobe meatballs and signature martini. It certainly was one of the reasons why the site Twilight site operators who arrived in Vancouver early for their set visit decided to pay the place a visit.

The Kobe meatballs were a big hit, as was the Sattay Sample Platter where you could pretty much taste a little bit of everything.  Signature martini, can’t say it was bad, but we can’t say (unlike the meatballs) it was worth the hype. After our experience there, no wonder the cast liked it: great food, relaxed Soho feel, and a seating section not directly in front of a panormaic window so there’s at least a chance at privacy.

Well it seems that lots of Vancouver locals: fans, photographers, etc. on a hunch decided to stake out Glowbal hoping that Rob would return (though he hadn’t been there in weeks) and celebrate his 23rd birthday there. According to the manager,

“”They weren’t fooling anybody,” said Mr. Bowers, adding that many of the photographers hid their cameras and just casually strolled around the front and rear entrance of the Mainland Street grill. “It was quite comical.”

Once Rob actually arrived and the Twitter brigade started it got quite busy, and it hasn’t stopped yet. Looks like Glowbal is going to be doing some serious buisness, which couldn’t hurt with the Olympics coming to town this winter. It’s great when the one place everyone knows the name of is yours!

Edward’s New Moon Theme Song

So this week’s music poll is all about Edward! Last week we openned the poll on the ultimate Bella New Moon song and with over 7000 votes in the poll the song on top was Haunted by Kelly Clarkson

So this week I am asking which songs remind you of Edward in New Moon.  And I am just going to say this up front Hate Me by Blue October is a given.  It won’t be included in the poll just like My Immortal for Bella wasn’t included.

So here is what you need to do, leave a comment containing the name of the song you think represents Edward most in New Moon.  In order for the song to be considered for the poll please leave a link to the song lyrics or video.

Please do not post the lyrics in the comment box. If a post contains full lyrics(anything more than 4 lines)  it will be deleted.

Thanks for undertanding and start posting! Just a reminder this is just for fun and has nothing to do with the New Moon soundtrack in any way.

Here are a few of the ones I think of: I Wish th Best for You by Emerson Hart (for the goodbye scene) Too Late by Fisher (Edward’s overall feelings)

New Moon Trailer Viewing

The rumor that the New Moon trailer will make its debut attached to the Summit produced, Vanessa Hudgens flick, Bandslam is still  making its rounds. When we checked it out, Summit basically said there are no guarantees on that. It’s still way to early to say that for sure.

However it brings up an interesting question. In this article on OnTheFlix, they talk about how a movie like Bandslam could be helped in its ratings by people going to see the movie simply because they want to see the trailer on the big screen.

“They have targeted “Bandslam” because it’s audience will most likely be the same demographics that “New Moon” will have for the most part. Also Summit Entertainment is the movie studio for the “Twilight Saga” films and “Bandslam” so there’s another correlation for you. Basically Summit Entertainment wants to help promote it’s less high profile movie with it’s more high profile movie with the correct demographics so they can in turn make more money on both fronts.”

Now we definitely agree that it makes sense for a movie like Bandslam to have the trailer on it. If you are going for a young teen demographic as a part of your marketing, it’s pretty much a no-brainer. So, it certainly doesn’t hurt Bandslam or New Moon in any way.

On the other hand, do people (in particular women) go to movies these days just to see the trailer of an upcoming film, or do you wait to see it online? Do they do it if it’s a movie they have no desire to see otherwise? Last year at this time the rumors were circulating that the Twilight trailer would be shown in from of Speed Racer (the reality was it was pot luck, some places it was attached some places it wasn’t but you didn’t know that before buying your ticket), and if Speed Racer’s sales totals are any indication it doesn’t look like Twilight gave it any kind of boost.

So here’s the question:

Would you go to see Bandslam just to get a possible glimpse of New Moon?

Gil Birmingham on Facebook

Gil Birmingham’s management just got in touch to tell us that he launched a Facebook site. We know this will come as a wild surprise, but there are actually other fake site’s out there.  So if you want official Gil information, this is where you want to go.

Also, speaking of Gil, Twilighters Anonymous has a new interview with Gill up.

TA.com: Can you tell us what it was like filming New Moon?

GB: New Moon was a tremendous experience for me. It was great to be back working with Rob, Kristen, Taylor and the rest of the cast. With the addition of the werewolf clan cast members, the energy on the set was at a whole new level. Filming New Moon, like Twilight, wasn’t easy. We spent long hours on location, in cold damp weather, sometimes well into the morning. What impressed me the most was the many dedicated fans who camped out in the cold all night while we were on location. They were really amazing!

Check it all out on TA.

Montepulciano Watch

This just in from Twilighters Italia:

“Apparently the body double of Robert Pattinson for the Italian shootings in Montepulciano was finally chosen (the guy posting in the indicated blog is a journalist) and you’ll find a youtube video of the guy (whose name is Alan Cappelli), who is the protagonist of an Italian TV commercial running on most TV channels these days.

We’ve posted a news about it (in Italian), in which you can find a youtube video of the guy that will play Edward’s body double in the filming, at this link: Alan Cappelli/Robert Pattinson

One guy of our staff was also chosen as a walk-on actor for the shootings, we’re thrilled!

And a hearsay from Italy: it seems like they’re going to shoot one scene inside a building, and probably it’s going to be the one when some tourists get trapped (and killed) into the Volturi palace.

For the square scene, it’s also rumored that there’s going to be something like 1500 walk-on actors involved. Initially, the company that’s managing the casting decided to choose just 500 people, later increasing that number to 800: now, rumors are indicating 1500 people as the final recruiting number.
