Birthday Give Away #1: Edward from Tonner Dolls

This month we celebrate FIVE years on line with the Twilight fandom!  We posted a podcast a few days ago answering the questions you asked us about various Twilight moments and trivia.  Every Thursday this month we will be holding a giveaway using questions from that podcast as your way to enter the contest and win amazing prizes!  This is our way of saying thank you for all the support you’ve given the Lexicon for the last five years.

This week we have the Edward doll named Distant Devotion from Tonner Dolls.  If you would like a chance to win this prize, leave a comment below with the answer to this week’s trivia question.  This contest is open to everyone who has a mailing address!  We will leave the contest open for 48 hours and will choose a winner on Saturday March 5.

This week’s question is: Which actor does Lori (Alphie) name as changing the way she saw the character from the book, and which actor does Laura (Pel) name as being just how she saw the character from the book?

This week’s prize: Distant Devotion Edward from Tonner Dolls

Remember, all of our birthday giveaways are open to anyone, anywhere in the world. It doesn’t matter where!

Next Movie: The Twilight Awards

The Confessions of a Male Twi-Hard blog over at Next Movie has an idea that’s not all that crazy:

“The Academy Awards have to attract young viewers to remain the biggest awards show. That’s why they expanded the Best Picture category to 10 nominees, allowing more populist films to be included.

They’ve also started a huge social networking push, announcing recently that the ceremony will be streaming live online, and named the unlikely young duo of Anne Hathaway and James Franco as co-hosts.

This is all costing the Academy a pretty penny, during a time when movie ticket sales are down. However, all they really need to attract younger viewers is “The Twilight Saga.”

I am not suggesting that the prestigious awards show should tarnish its reputation by including “Twilight” nominees in undeserved categories. Most reasonable Twi-Hards are willing to admit Robert Pattinson’s performance as Edward doesn’t quite match up to Colin Firth in “The King’s Speech” or James Franco in “127 Hours.”

What I am suggesting, simply, is they add some categories where “Twilight” will be a lock.

Creepiest Supernatural Performance
Dakota Fanning in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”
Ashley Bell in “The Last Exorcism”
Dimitri Coats in “Suck”
Ken Jeong in “Vampires Suck”

WINNER: Dakota Fanning”

Breaking Dawn Cast And Crew Happenings February 2011 and OSCAR Party With Bill Condon!

Wonder what’s going on up there in Vancouver? Well we told you how the snow has made the schedule interesting. Guri Weinberg who plays Stefan confirmed that on his Twitter tonight. He also is itching to try some local cuisine with Peter Facinelli in tow. Apparently local Vancouver boy, Noel Clarke Fisher (sorry Dr. Who on the brain), made the recommendation of wherever they are going.

In other news the Twilight Takes Over Baton Rouge Facebook group has some info. As their info tends to be reliable we are putting it up. All we can say is WE WISH WE WERE THERE!!!!! HOW COOL!

You can find them on Facebook. They are also having a charity auction featuring some actor signed items. A local children’s hospital benefits.

Now the best news also seems to come from Guri Weinberg’s Twitter. He hinted that the cast will be going on some kind of PR tour. The dates and locations are still being worked out, but he did mention two: Nashville and New York City.

Extra Perks For Donating to The St. Bernard Project From Kellan Lutz

Kellan Lutz just tweeted the latest update regarding is fundraising efforts for the St. Bernard Project. In the photo above, Kellan was snapped with fellow Breaking Dawn cast members Rami Malek and Casey LeBow as they helped to rebuild homes in the New Orleans area. Kellan is trying to raise $40,000. He has donated $15,000 of his own money to kick the drive off. Here’s the latest message from Kellan:

Want a chance to win free, autographed Twilight memorabilia? Want me to send you a shout-out on twitter? Will you help a great cause?

It’s Mardi Gras season in New Orleans and there are still many families whose homes were flooded by Katrina 5 1/2 years ago and have not been able to rebuild and move home. So I’m doing something about it.  I’m the Grand Marshal of the St. Bernard Project’s Get on the Float campaign and am funding a family’s home by donating personally and raising money from the cast and crew of Twilight.

Now I need my fans to join me too. Donate any amount to St. Bernard Project and you’ll be entered in the drawing. Grand Prize winners will get autographed Twilight memorabilia signed by me and other members of the Twilight cast.

But that’s not the only prize! Each day, I’ll send a shout-out to one donor on twitter. Just leave your twitter address in the comment section and I’ll make sure my followers know about your generous contribution.

It’s easy to donate and you’ll be contributing to a great cause. This Mardi Gras Season, Get on the Float for St. Bernard Project. We want to get at least two families back home and we can do that by raising $40,000.

Until I was in New Orleans and saw the devastation first hand I had no idea about the extent of the enduring needs. I met families who were still living in FEMA trailers or their gutted homes over five years after Katrina. The good news is that there’s a solution: the St. Bernard Project can rebuild a family’s home in 12 weeks for about $15,000-$20,000. They’ve done over 350 so far!

Many thanks for your support — and don’t forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

Donation information can be found here.

Booboo Stewart, Califonia Boy Enjoys the Snow

We told you yesterday how the snow in Vancouver was causing some relatively minor challenges for the Breaking Dawn production team. Well, California native Booboo Stewart didn’t seem to mind.

Jackson Rathbone Takes His Razzie Win In Stride

MTV’s The Seven caught up with Jackson Rathbone. It doesn’t look like he is all broken about about that Razzie Win.

Kudos to Jackson for a positive attitude.

Robert Pattinson Vanity Fair Cover April 2011

In the issue of Vanity Fair that hits news stands this week, Robert Pattinson talks candidly about his career and the price of fame.

“Robert Pattinson doesn’t like to fly anymore, because flying means airports, and airports mean encountering people who might go bananas when they see him, screaming and crying and trying to touch him and asking him to bite their necks. Shy, for an actor, Pattinson, who turns 25 next month, says he finds the hysteria that has surrounded him ever since he first appeared as the gallant teenage vampire Edward Cullen in the first Twilight movie, in 2008, “quite strange.”

“This thing with everyone knowing you,” he says one day in Baton Rouge, where he’s filming the fourth and fifth installments in the Twilight saga, Breaking Dawn: Part I and Part II, “it’s weird, because people have this one-sided relationship where they look at your picture and feel they know you more than someone they actually know.” And, Pattinson adds, “I don’t really know myself that well.”

What will be interesting to see is media reaction from people like Chelsea Handler and others. Kristen Stewart gave a similar interview talking about loss of privacy, and was widely greeted with “you’re a star, now get over it” commentary. It will be interesting to see if Robert gets the same reaction.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow: Weather Affecting the Breaking Dawn Sets

Well it’s Vancouver in the winter. If the filming crews have learned one thing over the years filming in Vancouver, it’s that you NEVER know what the weather is going to be! Even in the Spring, things can be unpredictable at best.

Notably, Catherine Hardwicke was faced with what had been a lush, green field on one day, suddenly turned into a snowy, muddy mess the next. So much for the meadow scene on location. It ended up reshot in California.

As we have been telling you, the Vancouver shooting is mostly exteriors. Today those exteriors are covered in snow. Supposedly this isn’t exactly according to plan, and crews have been seen trying to move the snow without creating a muddy mess (imagine shoveling grass and you get the idea).

Assuming Vancouver isn’t clobbered by some of the massive storms the Midwest and the Northeast have gotten this year, it probably won’t severely impact schedule.  It’s just down to some creative juggling as to which scenes are shot.

Check out pictures from various exterior locations here.
