Collider Interviews Jamie Campbell-Bower For Camelot

Christina from Collider interviewed Jamie Campbell-Bower for his upcoming role as Arthur in the Starz Network’s Camelot. This is a much younger and grittier Camelot than has been done before. The cast has some acting powerhouses like Joseph Fiennes in it. It premieres on April 1, 2011.

In one of the questions Jamie shows his understanding on what people are looking for in an epic story and how love stories tie in.

“There are a lot of epic myth stories right now, not just on Starz, but across the landscape. Does that say something about our times right now? Is this a particularly good time to revisit these very big and complex stories?

BOWER: I think that behind every story at the moment that’s doing well, and stories throughout history that have done well, are stories that, behind them and underlying everything that’s involved in them, is a key love story. Particularly with the Camelot story, people are fascinated with the relationship between Guinevere and Arthur, and also the bizarre, almost sexual chemistry between Morgan and Merlin. I don’t know if it’s something that people are revisiting due to economic times or the stress that they’re under, but I would say that, particularly with this and with what we’re trying to do, underneath it all is a love story. I think people are generally and genuinely interested in that, and just want to be taken away and fall into the arms of lovers.”

Break of of the Winter Blues With a Signed Bag Giveaway

We don’t know about the rest of you, but we’ve had it wit the ice and snow of winter.  Laura can’t wait to leave the snowy, icy, and cold NYC area for two creation conventions in California: San Fransisco that takes place this weekend and Los Angeles that takes place the first weekend in March. Lori can’t wait until March when the convention is at her hometown of Nashville.

Despite the ground hog predicting it will be an early spring, we’re not so sure. We need something to cheer us up. I mean did they have to pluck him out of his borrow using mining gear? He must be buried under three feet of ice and snow at least. Also why do we haul over-sized rodents out of their burrows and surround them with TV camera’s…never mind…it’s probably the same reason we drive on parkways and park on driveways.

Anyway, back to needing the cheering up! Today we are giving away a signed bag from the Creation Entertainment Official Twilight Tour. It was signed by Dan Cudmore, Charlie Bewley, Chaske Spencer, Kiowa Gordon and Bronson Pelletier. Just tell us what you do to fight the winter blues in the comments and we’ll pick a random winner on Friday night at 11:59 eastern.

If you are in the San Fransisco area, day tickets are only $25. If you come on Saturday you get to see seven actors. That’s a hard deal to beat!

Also, March is the Lexicon’s anniversary month. As usual, we’ll have lots of awesome giveaways coming up. Items signed by Stephenie Meyer, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and more! So you definitely want to be around in March as we celebrate!

TwiIdiot Runs Down the Best of Twilight on CafePress

You remember Gretchen from TwiIdiot? She’s the person who was picked by Collider out of over 700 applicants to write the Eclipse DVD review.

Often times trying to find a design at CafePress can be overwhelming because the search feature isn’t the greatest. Well there are a ton of sales going on over at CafePress (some that are over tonight at midnight)and Gretchen’s compiled her favorite stores and merchandise. She calls it Tasteful Twilight Gifts. It’s a way to celebrate Twilight love without an over abundance of sparkle dust…not that there’s anything wrong with sparkle dust. 🙂

We made the list at number 4:

4.  Twilight Lexicon on Cafe Press

The Twilight Lexicon fan site has a lovely Cafe Press storefront with several designs.  Here is my favorite on a throw pillow:

The design also comes on T-shirts, note cards, dog T-shirts, thongs and boxer shorts.  I think the pillow would make a nice wedding gift or go nicely in a black, white and red-themed bedroom.

And your reward for reading this far — here are the three Cafe Press discounts that are running right now.  I will update here periodically as the promotions change.

Spend $40 or more and get free shipping.  Use code: CUPID at check out.

Get 20% off Twilight-related merchandise.  Use code: BELLA at check out.

Get 20% off your order.  Use code: LOVEBUG at check out.

Get the full buying guide here, and she’s also asked people to chime in with comments of their favorite stores and merch!

Robert Pattinson Heading to the BAFTA’s As a Presenter? The Ads Certainly Suggest The Possibility

Unlike the Golden Globes and the OSCARS that do weeks of PR for their awards including name dropping presenters at regularly scheduled intervals, the BAFTA’s are more low-key. You discover who is presenting maybe days before. The show airs on February 13th.

Here’s who we think is likely to be there from the Twilight cast in a presenting role assuming Breaking Dawn filming allows:

Robert Pattinson: As a UK Robert Pattinson site points out his face is splashed all over their promotional ads in the London Tube and in their TV adverts. He presented last year and with Water for Elephants, Bel Ami, and Breaking Dawn coming out this year he’s a big attraction. Also given his age, it’s a way to get younger viewers to tune in.

Kristen Stewart: Last year she won the Rising Star Award. It’s a bit of a tradition for the previous year’s winner to present the statue to the current year’s winner. See video below.

Michael Sheen: He’s producing a Passion Play for his hometown in Wales, Port Talbot. In the fall he’s slated to do Hamlet at the Old Vic, and then there are all the mega-hits he’s in from Alice in Wonderland to Tron to Breaking Dawn and then the smaller films like Midnight in Paris that’s currently in production.  He’s practically the poster boy for local Welsh Boy Makes Good.

Long shot: Jamie Campbell-Bower is making a name for himself starring as King Arthur in the upcoming Camelot. He’s also in the final Harry Potter movies. We’re actually wondering if Jamie might appear as a future Rising Star nominee.

Anna Kendrick: She was there last year for Up in the Air. She’s also a bit of an anglophile following UK shows like The X-Factor where she made a guest appearance this season.

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner Make Vanity Fair’s Top 40 List 2010

Every year Vanity Fair creates the Top 40 in their March issue list that covers the biggest Hollywood earners. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner all hit this year’s list with the likes of other big-time Hollywood names such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith, and Sandra Bullock.

Here’s a preview of what they had to say about the Twilight connection:

“We can also look to the Twilight kids. That franchise also landed three people on the list.

Speaking of—how did Taylor Lautner find his way in Hollywood’s top 10 earners?

He’s perhaps the highest-paid teenage star right now. When they first negotiated their contracts, they were getting paid a lot less. Then, with the immense success of the film, the agents went back and renegotiated the deal—Lautner’s deal, in particular, was really bumped up. He was actually getting less than the other two stars at the beginning of the Twilight series. For this last installment that they split into two parts, they really ratcheted it up. He’s now paid on par with the others.”
