Who’s Creating That Red Carpet Style?

According to her press release, FIDM Alumna Melis Kuris is dressing three Twilight stars for the Eclipse premiere.

On Thursday, June 24, 2010, the premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will take place in Los Angeles and FIDM Alumna Melis Kuris will be dressing stars Peter Facinelli, Charlie Bewley, and Chaske Spencer. “The excitement of putting a look together for a client and then seeing the photos a few hours later is the instant gratification I constantly experience,” says the Los Angeles-based stylist.

I love being a stylist because everyday is different and you are constantly working with new celebrities, photographers, and producers

Networking is key, but so is dedication and patience.

“My house had over 25 racks of clothes and close to 300 pairs of shoes. That job was really what shifted my career to the next gear and seeing all of them on the red carpet together was such a highlight for me. I remember one of my first shoots the photographer wanted to shoot three girls with a very Victorian-inspired look. If I hadn’t had my old projects and books to reference back to it might not have turned out so well. The more you put yourself out there the easier it is to get the next job.”

Melis, who styles celebrities for music videos, editorial shoots, commercials, and the red carpet, has worked with Will Ferrell, Avril Lavigne, Anna Paquin, and Lily Collins, among others. “I love being a stylist because everyday is different and you are constantly working with new celebrities, photographers, and producers,” explains the fashion school graduate. “Networking is key, but so is dedication and patience.”

Melis says that the first Twilight film was one of her biggest career challenges. She was asked to style 10 of the main cast members (including Taylor Lautner, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Green, and Nikki Reed) for all of their press and the premiere. “My house had over 25 racks of clothes and close to 300 pairs of shoes,” she remembers. “That job was really what shifted my career to the next gear and seeing all of them on the red carpet together was such a highlight for me.”

She says that certain FIDM classes such as Textile Science, and Trend Forecasting, History of Costume Design allowed her to be one step ahead in the styling world. “I remember one of my first shoots the photographer wanted to shoot three girls with a very Victorian-inspired look,” she explains. “If I hadn’t had my old projects and books to reference back to it might not have turned out so well.” Melis says that networking is key to success, but that dedication and patience are equally important. “The more you put yourself out there the easier it is to get the next job,” she adds.

With four dynamic California campuses, FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising is the premier west coast fashion design college, educating for careers in fashion, graphic design, interior design, and entertainment. FIDM’s graduates include renowned fashion designers like Monique Lhuillier, Emmy® and Academy Award® award-winning costume designers, top fashion industry executives, and entrepreneurs.

The Stephenie Meyer Fansite Interview: The Midnight Sun Answer

You can hear or read this part of the fansite discussion that took place last weekend in Los Angeles. Twilight Series Theories, Twilight Source, Twifans, and Letters to Twilight were all there for a four hour discussion.

Much of that discussion can’t be made public until after Eclipse comes out so as not to spoil the movie; however, the sites were given permission to broadcast/write-up the first thing Stephenie talked to the group about which was the status of Midnight Sun.

You can listen here and hear Stephenie herself in her own words:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALPHIE

This is Pel writing. I’m a really bad best friend. I totally forgot what day it was. It’s Lori’s (Alphie’s) birthday.  In short, if Lori didn’t read Twilight in December 2005, have the book “eat her brain”, get inspired to write fanfic, and then get inspired to correspond with Stephenie there would be no Twilight Lexicon.  So a huge thank you and a very happy birthday to Lori, because without her vision and trapdoor memory for book facts, passion for the series, and wanting to share that passion with others, this site wouldn’t be here!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LORI!

Entertainment Weekly To Feature Trio in Eclipse-Breaking Dawn Interview

Entertainment Weekly has a huge Eclipse issue planned and they have put a tidbit online:

“Entertainment Weekly sat down with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner for a feature interview running in this week’s magazine to discuss the world they inhabit within the Twilight universe — both on screen and off.  The three young stars opened up about coping under the glare of intense media spotlight, how they rely on one another to pull through, what they think of the upcoming final movie, Breaking Dawn, what lies ahead once the franchise wraps, and much more. In this preview, the three stars talk about gearing up for the final chapter of the saga that has changed each of their lives forever.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You guys are about to start shooting the two Breaking Dawn movies back to back. You signed on to this franchise before Breaking Dawn was written. When you read it, were you thinking, How is this going to be turned into a movie?
KRISTEN STEWART
: Yeah, definitely. What is Renesmee going to look like? Is it going to be this little teeth-baby running around? It’s going to be weird.
ROBERT PATTINSON:
[Laughs] “Little teeth-baby.”
STEWART:
Yeah, but I think it’s going to be cool. One of the main objectives of the series is to get Bella to a point where she’s mature enough to make such a hefty decision, and she goes through a lot. In the fourth one, she is going to become a wife. She is going to become a mom. She is going to become an adult and a vampire. To do it so young, it needs to be believable. So I’m really excited about playing that.”

See more on EW and by the issue starting June 25th for the full interview.

Los Angeles Fox Station Visits Eclipse Tent City

So far that makes ABC and Fox who have checked things out, wonder if the other networks will take a look.
