Cameron Bright: Doesn’t Miss Hollywood

Canada.com interviewed Cameron Bright who plays Alec in the New Moon movie.  Cameron is a native of the Vancouver area where New Moon is being shot.

“If I didn’t live here, I think I would probably be that stereotypical actor. In Hollywood, everyone wants to be an actor and just flaunt it,” he said. “Here, they just don’t care.”

Screen Caps from Twilight Poison

Twilight Poison has a great gallery of screen caps of the ET footage that has been run over the last few days.

Look for more coverage from ET tonight.

Topless in New Moon! (ok, not really)

The above is an example of a title I could never pass up.  Also suggested titles were “Hawt Pics of Bronzed Men”, “Let’s Laugh at Wisconsin!” and the ever-popular “Jaden Fails At Life” (which is incorrect, because in at least 10% of it I succeed).

I have a feeling that there’s an actual explanation for the werewolves/shapeshifters having such bronze skin (they aren’t living in the sunniest of towns, you know), and that I just totally missed it in the books.

Ok, library fines are calling my name.  See you guys.

New Moon Exclusives from ET

Here is the video of yesterdays Entertainment Tonight New Moon Exclusive.  There is about 20 miutes of footage some of which you have seen before most of which you have not.  There are extended interviews and some vampire fashion tips.  Thanks to everyone who sent in the link.

Twilight Australia Party Continues

Edi Gathegi and Kellan Lutz continue to delight fans down under. According to the Herald Sun:

“Despite being in one of the hottest movies of the year, they played without the usual wannabes and hangers-on that so often trail behind visiting stars. The pair hung out at Prahran’s Boutique.

They just turned up – no call ahead to arrange a VIP area, and no fuss about where they mingled and who with.”

Twilight News Out of Control

The Deadbolt has a great article up on how Twilight news coverage has spun completely out of control. We’ve seen it all in the months since the movie came out. There were fairly harmless things like Vanessa Hudgens supposedly auditioning for the nonexistent part of Leah in New Moon to outright character assassination regarding the Stephenie Meyer lawsuit. What’s more interesting is that once a story is corrected, the outlets that made the error almost never retract their stories, not even in tiny tiny font. So the stories just keep perpetuating themselves.

Deadbolt, which operates out of Vancouver, did something really awesome the other day. They asked us about the quote we got from Summit about the Stephenie Meyer lawsuit being fake. They didn’t just take our word for it. Deadbolt has an article up on what they’ve seen as a shift in media responsibility in the ten or so years that they have been on the Internet.

“Between five and ten years ago, rumors were handled much differently prior to the blogging explosion. It was an unspoken rule that without confirmation, you’d be tarred and feathered and mocked over a lack of credibility by reporting rumor as fact … or near close to fact, as near certainty. Confirmation, or near confirmation was key. Today there’s an “okay, let’s move on” mentality since there are simply too many outlets, too many people writing the same stories, and too many writers with wide gaps in experience all playing in the same pool.”

Twilight Twitter 411

So, because there still seems to be so much confusion on who has a Twitter and who doesn’t, we thought we’d give you a run down:

The only public Twitter accounts that we can confirm as real are as follows:

Jamie Campbell Bower

Michael Sheen Michael just put up a series of photos (like 12 of them, one featured at the left) check them out.

There are a ton of fake, Kristen Stewart, Rob Pattinson, and Stephenie Meyer accounts. Be skeptical of supposed real accounts, here’s a couple easy ways tell when they are real or fake:

  • Photos are only of official PR shots
  • Tweets happen while actual filming is taking place. 2/3 of the supposed Rob and Kristen accounts send tweets when they are actually on set.
  • If a star has a real account that they have not disclosed to the public, their Tweets are most likely locked because it would be a PR nightmare otherwise. The likelihood of them friending someone they have never met to see private tweets is slim to none.
  • Check the stars official websites and interviews, and see if they mention their official twitters, MySpaces, Facebooks.
  • Check what accounts they are following. chances are they are not just following the accounts of fellow castmates, they do have other friends.

The phenomena isn’t limited to Twilight stars. Aparently someone has just faked a Kaleb Nation account too.  Kaleb just did a great story on how over 26,000 people have been fooled into friending a fake Stephenie Meyer account when clearly right on Stephenie’s own website she lists her only avenues of connecting with the public: MySpace, Twight Saga website (official run by her publisher), and StephenieMeyer.com.

Here is the correct Kaleb Nation account, and here is the correct Twilight Lexicon account.

How to Be screening in Boston

On Thursday I attended the Boston screening of How to Be.  I know this is a little late but things have been busy and I wanted time to process the movie.  First off I brought my non-Twilight friend with me who was slightly surprised when we arrived 30 minutes before the movie started to find a line that wrapped around a block and a half from the movie theater.  The sign at the front of the line said “How to Be Line starts here (yeah with that guy from that other movie).  The Coolidge Corner employees clearly have a sense of humor and they managed to get over 300 people seated in an orderly fashion with in 15 minutes. Seriously, that is a feat in and of it self.  Now on to the part you all really want to hear about: The Movie.  Here is your “possible spoilers ahead” disclaimer. Don’t say you weren’t warned!

The film was introduced by writer/director Oliver Irving.  He was accompanied by Composer Joe Hastings, Mike Pearce who plays Nikki, and Johnny White who plays Ronny.  They returned at the end of the film for a question and answer session with the group.

But first let’s talk about the actual film.  I really enjoyed it.  It is an unusual coming of age story.  The main character Art is going through an early 20’s crisis which is facilitated by his girlfriend dumping him and his family being very cold.  His friends Ronny and Nikki are both kind of going through a crisis in their own way but not nearly as bad as Art’s.  Art decides he needs help and hires a self help author to come live with him and “make him more normal.”

Ronny and Nikki are interesting characters played fantastically by Johnny White and Mike Pearce.  They bring a comedic value to an otherwise sad situation.  The interactions between them an Art are funny, endearing and sometimes antagonistic.  Both actors did a great job at bringing the character’s subtle quirkiness to life to compliment the constant quirkiness of Art. I don’t know if the movie would be nearly as good if they weren’t in it.

Then there was Art played by that guy in that movie, sorry couldn’t help myself, played by Rob Pattinson.  Art is such an awkward, lost guy you can’t help but feel for him. The awkwardness that Rob brings to the character is palpable, sitting in the theater there are times I felt embarrassed for him and that isn’t always an easy thing to relate to an audience.  This character is the complete opposite from Edward and he plays it incredible well and believably.

The movie was enjoyable from start to finish but I did have 2 favorite scenes, actually thinking about it I have more than two but I will list only two, so as not to give too much away.  First, Art volunteers at a community center/home for people with special needs.  There is a scene where he is playing basketball with them and it is funny and heartbreaking at the same time.  It kind of asks the question, what are you willing to do to make yourself feel better?  Art is trying to help others but at the same time trying to build his own confidence and self esteem.  The second scene is the pub scene.  It feels authentic in so many ways. It is a typical friends hanging out, telling stories and joking around scene but it doesn’t feel forced and for good reason, they weren’t drinking apple juice in their pint glasses while filming.  It is a very relatable scene and of course Art has one of his most embarrassing moments with the ex.

You can see trailers for the film HERE. It will be available on IFC Direct starting April 29th.   As for the Q&A that was after the film it was really hard to hear but you can get answers to most of what was asked on the How to Be website and in an interview done with Oliver Irving and Joe Hastings. Some final things to note: How to be was shot in 5 weeks, Oliver Irving raised money for the film by riding the train and looking for investors primarily from banks, and the music was created for the film before the scenes were shot so that Oliver and the actors kind of had a feel for what the mood should while filming. Some facts that I could actually hear being talked about.

Fans Turn Out For Melissa Rosenberg Signing

Melissa Rosenberg signed Twilight scripts yesterday in Los Angeles at the festival of books. All proceeds went to support The Writer’s Guild.

Lexiconer Cindy, pictured left, writes in:

“I thought you might enjoy the photos of Melissa’s script signing session this afternoon at the LA Festival of Books at UCLA. My daughter, Caitlin, and I were first in line for her arrival and I was able to ask her if there was any news at all about Breaking Dawn. She said “nothing yet”… She was also very appreciative of everyone that turned out in support of The Writer’s Guild.

It was great  chatting in line with other gals who had been to Comic Con as well as one who was older like myself and just getting into the extreme passionate fan-dom of Twilight. So it was really fun to share stories, anecdotes and updates with all of them while we waited for Melissa’s arrival. It was well worth the wait!”
