David Slade Rejoins Twitter

Eclipse director, David Slade, has rejoined Twitter. His icon picture seen left (we think) is from the his featurette Meat Dog What’s Fer Dinner?

Peter Facinelli is the one who pointed out the Twitter’s existence. Currently the Twitter account is talking about a video that David made for UNICEF in conjunction with MTV to reach a wide audience on the dangers and horrors of human trafficking.

You can friend David’s Twitter account here.

You can catch his very moving video here on the UNICEF CHANNEL(read the comments that go along with the video, they really explain the full legnth of the project.)

David just did his first Eclispe related Tweet,Reading Stephenie’s notes on latest script draft, we are in very good shape.”

Chris Weitz: Zen Master At Work

Chris Weitz has been described by the New Moon actors as “the Zen Master” who is the epitome of calm, focus, and organization while shooting.  You can see the master at work in this scene that appeared in this Sunday’s LA Times print edition.

TY to Summit for the hi-res version.

Hit Fix New Moon Set Report: Day 2

Hit Fix is continuing their coverage of their New Moon set visit.

“Showing acting isn’t always a glamorous life, our next take finds Pattinson  once again on the ground (where’s been on and off for at least two hours) writhing in pain as Alice looks up and says, “He’s O.K.” take after take.  Eventually, Edward’s pain is accurately captured and Pattinson is allowed to walk back to his trailer with his bare chest visible for all the ladies in my party to swoon over.

With Edward gone, the crew continues filming reaction shots. This time? A close up on Jane who stares ominously where Edward is supposed to be.  Notably, Fanning looks almost unrecognizable in her Volturi outfit.  She’s stunningly beautiful looking more and more like a ready to graduate senior in high school rather than the sophomore she really is.  Notably though, at least on the days we were on set, Jane says nothing.  And sadly, Fanning did not speak to us during our time there.”

Part 2 is here and in case you missed part one you can get that here.

Chris Weitz: Noot Seear More Than a Pretty Face

Chris Weitz talked to fashion industry publication Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) about why runway model Noot Seear was chosen for the role of Heidi.

“We wanted someone who had an unearthly and unlikely beauty, but could also convey humour and menace. It’s rare to find a stunningly attractive person who also happens to have the ability to act.”

You can read the article on WWD , alternatively InStyle UK has summarized the article.

For background on Noot, NY Mag has a great rundown.

New Moon Indonesian Advertising

This appeared in Indonesia at a movie theater lobby recently. Wonder how many people are riding up and down that escalator non stop.

TY to anggiamaryorie on Twitter for sending it in. She has a collection of photos currently visible at Cinema XXI Ciwalk Bandung & Cinema XXI Botani Square Bogor, Indonesia here on her facebook.

Twilight Actors Go Indie

A number of Twilight actors are involved in, or about to be involved in, what you could term lower budget indie films. They are the type of thing you see at film festivals. If an indie film is really lucky and garners enough attention it’s possible for it to reach Blair Witch Project or Napoleon Dynamite recognition.

Mike Welch is currently shooting Unrequited in Kentucky.  A recent set visit by the Lexington Herald Leader resulted in some fabulous behind the scenes images.

Get all the images here.  What’s also great about indie films is, that unlike major studio productions, they have grasped the power of  social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. The Unrequited crew Tweets daily with updates from the silly to the mundane.

In fact, their most recent Tweet was really good news: “Contacted today by our first distributor inquery. Pretty exciting that word about this film is getting around.”

Check them out on Twitter here.

Jackson Rathbone is involved in more ways than one in the upcoming flick called Girlfriend. We first heard about the project when we interviewed 100 Monkeys in Allentown, PA. 100 Monkeys will be doing the soundtrack. Jackson is  starring as well as producing. 100 Monkeys bandmate Jerad Anderson is also wearing the producer hat.

Jackson tells MTV’s Hollywood Crush(click here), “I’m actually producing my first film this year called ‘Girlfriend,’” he says. “New director Justin Lerner kind of made a splash at a couple festivals last year with a short film he did…It’s an exciting time,” he said. “I get to play a part in it and have a little bit more say behind the scenes, behind the camera, which is really interesting. It’s what I’ve always really wanted to get into. I love film. I love the art behind it.”

Now the good news is that the group has just set up a Twitter and is about to launch a facebook page (we’ll let you know when that happens.) Directors, producers, actors, etc will all be doing the on set tweets. One of the latest was teasing about info regarding who the co-star, AKA the girlfriend, is going to be:

“We’ve finally decided what actress will play Jackson Rathbone’s “Girlfriend” in our film. The lucky mystery girl will be announced soon!”

You really want to be following this group on Twitter because you never know when they might give out something special to a follower. Right now they have 489 followers. With Jackson Rathebone promised as one of the Tweeters surely that number will go up. So, sign up here to follow along!

Chris Weitz: LA Times Interview

The LA Times Interviewed Chris Weitz about New Moon, and Chris dished some never heard of before details:

“Driving home from a day of post-production, Weitz says he understands what’s at stake. There are 450 visual effects shots to complete, in addition to the score and the movie’s soundtrack, which he says will feature songs from Radiohead, Muse and Band of Skulls, among others. But the sequences he’s readying for the event — one, an action scene that will feature some of those effects, the other, a love scene sure to elicit hysteria from the crowd — will be done in time.

With so much on the line at Comic-Con, where word of mouth can often make or break a project, Weitz is feeling fairly confident that the reaction will be positive, especially since many of the cast members will be there.”

Oh Peter, It’s Jennie on the Phone

Here’s the set up. During the Atlanta Twi-tour Peter Facinelli’s cell phone goes off four times. The first time he ignores it. The second time it’s his agent. The third time he ignores it, and the crowd starts heckling him in a good natured way. Pel shouted out, “It’s Jennie telling you to pick up milk on your way home from the airport.” Then it rings again and it is Jennie. Peter starts to talk to her but doesn’t tell her she’s on speaker phone with a mic right next to her. Peter puts his phone in his pocket thinking Jennie has hung up without returning his “I love you”, but actually she has’t. It was just a classic moment of “can you hear me now?” Jennie could hear Peter but not vice versa.  Hilarity ensues when Peter then realizes that Jennie has heard EVERYTHING including him saying ” Can you believe she didn’t say “I love you back”.

Solomon Trimble at Quileute Days

Solomon Trimble took part in the annual Quileute Days performing a traditional dance and answering questions for visitors and Twilight fans.

[Solomon]…joined a group of 45 dancers and singers from the Quileute, Quinault and North Star tribes in a 2 ½-hour cultural arts program. He wore black shorts with a red and white cape gown, and carried a decorative wolf headpiece in the ceremonial dance ‘Into our home’.

“We are honored to have you into our home,” said Sonny Woodruff, who organized the dance with tribal vice chairwoman Bonita Cleveland. After the dance, Trimble gave Cleveland a robe he received from his mother.

“My mom said you have to give it back to me in 50 years when you’re done with it,” Trimble said.

“I did not expect anything like that,” Cleveland said of Trimble’s gift. “I feel very honored.”

As part of the Quileute’s tradition of returning a gift with another gift, Cleveland gave Trimble a robe depicting an eagle and a whale.”
