EW Vistis the Set of The Host and Talks Seeker and Wanderer Details

EW was just on the set of The Host movie and they have some insider details for us.

Fans of Stephenie Meyer’s 600-plus-page novel have likely already gathered from the description above that film interpretation of The Seeker is almost the exact opposite of how she’s described in the book. Instead of small, dark-haired, and clad mostly in black, the very blonde Kruger stands regally on some serious wedge heels, dressed in a futuristic cream-colored pant suit. It’s a change designed by writer-director Andrew Niccol (Gattica, In Time) to reflect the “purity” of the egalitarian Souls, and Meyer told me on the set that she happily embraced it. Gattica is her favorite sci-fi film of all time.

As for the delightful Ronan, although she wasn’t working that day, she came out to the set to speak with EW about the film, one day after the Oscar-nominated Irish actress turned 18. We’ll have video of our interviews with her, Meyer, Kruger, and Irons in the coming months — the movie, which is still shooting, isn’t hitting theaters until March 29, 2013, after all — but I can tell you how Ronan is differentiating the alien Wanderer from the internal voice of Melanie in the film. It’s actually quite simple: The Wanderer speaks with a generic American accent, whereas Melanie’s voice is inflected with a Louisiana twang, another Meyer-approved tweak from the book.

Which Twillight Scenes Would You Reshoot

Kara Warner from MTV put out a request on Twitter yesterday asking “If you could have any scene in any of the previous films re-shot, which one would you revamp?” There’s a really great write up on MTV with the results. Two of the items that the Lexicon tweeted were also covered by others: The Meadow Scene in Twilight and Bella and Edward’s reunion in New Moon.

In light of the news that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are headed back to the “Breaking Dawn — Part 2” set for a few re-shoots, this week’s Twilight Tuesday posed the question: If you could have any scene in any of the previous films re-shot, which one would you revamp? (Pun intended!)

As always, the members of the knowledgeable and passionate “Twilight” fan community responded to the query with gusto. Some folks want to see extended versions of their favorite scenes, some are still displeased with the book-to-film adaptation in certain areas and some requested they re-shoot entire films altogether. But there are two scenes that a majority of fans agreed could use a makeover: the meadow scene in “Twilight” and Edward and Bella’s reunion in “New Moon.”

Check out the details on MTV.

How Kristen Stewart’s Twilight Quotes Get Taken Out of Context

We’ve seen this happen a bunch to both Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. They give an interview and someone takes a comment out of context and tries to warp it into something it wasn’t. Oddly enough this doesn’t happen so much Taylor Lautner, but he hasn’t had as many outside projects and doesn’t do the same amount of press, so maybe that’s the answer.

Here’s how a self-professed Kristen Stewart non-fan came around after exploring Kristen Stewart’s coverage in the media.

The latest in Stewart’s supposed anti-Twilight campaign came during an interview with Australia’s Film Ink magazine, in which she reportedly flat-out says that that Snow White is a better role than Bella. Again, that’s the spin—here’s what she actually said:

It is fairly common to have your story as a woman, even if you’re the protagonist, facilitated by all of the male characters. It’s so rare to have a female lead character being so proactive. She pushes her own story forward, rather then being affected by all of the outside elements. Hopefully we do that, I’m really proud to be a part of something like that. It’s always food for women to feel empowered.

I mean, I can see how she probably finds this role more rewarding than Twilight, but is this really “harsh words for her passive character Bella Swan”? Or is she just echoing what many are saying about Snow White and the Huntsman: that it’s a Hollywood anomaly because it’s led by two strong female protagonists? For all I know, she may just be spouting off one of the marketing bullet points for the film, but at any rate, I hardly think it’s a deliberate dig at Twilight.

The author goes on to cite several more examples including a recent interview from Snow White and the Huntsman. Check it out here

Maggie Grace Lockout, Taken 2, and Breaking Dawn 2

MTV’s sat down to talk Lockout, Taken 2, and Breaking Dawn 2 with Maggie Grace.

You’re a relative vampire newcomer to the “Twilight Saga.” What will Irina be up to in “Breaking Dawn – Part 2”?
Well, I think Irina is true to the books. I think she’s largely misunderstood and a situational villain, but well intentioned. The “Twilight” fervor is still new to me — it’s kind of intimidating.

Is it true that you are clumsy and that a former castmate called you “Maggie Graceless”? Who said that?
That would be Josh Holloway from “Lost.” That nickname stuck and is fairly earned, so it’s kind of ironic that I’m doing action movies and running for a living. I trip a lot, and I’ve busted my lip a few times. It used to be that I would be trying to read and walk down the street at the same time, and I’d run into poles. Even fly fishing I’ve managed to hook myself before. I was in Utah recently and we were going to go hatchet throwing and I thought, Is this really a good fit for me? It’s something I’ll probably get the hang of someday.

Ashley Greene Talks Apparition and Breaking Dawn 2

Ashley Greene has a couple of new projects in the works. One is the ghost story, Apparition, co-starring another mega-franchise veteran Tom Felton

MTV News: Did you have to do any stunts?

Greene: The stunts on this were much different then something like “Twilight.” No wires, but lots of scenes requiring agility. I think I injured myself more on this film because of the intensity of the scenes. You get wrapped up and don’t realize how hard you’re pounding your hand or that you’ve hurt your ankle until the end of the scene.

MTV News: Is there CGI work involved with the spirit?

Greene: Yes, there is amazing CGI work in the film. I don’t want to give too much away, but I will say the visuals are very compelling. Also, it’s important to note that this film is a supernatural thriller that really keeps you guessing. The fear is built through suspense and fear of the unknown, rather than the blood or gore of a horror film.

MTV News: What scene are you most excited to see in “Breaking Dawn – Part 2”?

Greene: I’m excited to see the final battle scene with the Volturi. Everything has worked up to that big moment. It’s action-packed, and I don’t think the fans will be disappointed!

Bill Condon Writes Message to Fans About Reshoots

Bill Condon posted the below letter to the Twilight fans on the official facebook page. You may remember that David Slade had to do similar reshoots as did Chris Wietz. Reshoots are fairly commonplace in the filming industry and can happen for any number of reasons from damage to original footage, to lighting not being the quality they wanted , to needing an extra scene not initially thought of, things not matching in continuity between close ups and long shots, sound being too dodgy to fix in adr, etc.

Hello Twihards!

Greetings from Los Angeles, where we’re hard at work on BREAKING DAWN, PART TWO. It’s truly crazy to think that it’s been a year since we wrapped production in Vancouver, since for those of us in the editing room the work has never stopped.

A film is a lot like a puzzle, with each piece – each shot, no matter how brief – needing to fit exactly with the ones around it. Our Part Two puzzle is finally coming into full view, and in a few weeks we’ll be heading back north to pick up some additional shots – the last tiny missing pieces. We’re not shooting any new scenes or dialogue, just some technical work with some of our cast and stunt actors.

I am really looking forward to being back on set with some of the friends I’ve made on my Twilight journey, like the great Guillermo Navarro, our cinematographer, and his crew. And yes, Rob and Kristen will be there too, to pop in those gold contacts one last time…

I’m excited to report that before too long we’ll have another trailer for you to decode. And wait until you see the first posters — they’re unlike any “Twilight” images you’ve seen before. And then November 16th will be upon us and the final film will be yours!

Until then, have a very happy spring, and I’ll check back in with you soon.

Best wishes,

Bill

Frances Fisher Tweets from The Host Set in New Mexico

Frances Fisher, who plays Maggie, tweeted the featured photo using her IPhone just as the cast and crew were playing beat the clock to get a scene in before a thunderstorm rolled in. I asked her on Twitter how hot it was out there in the New Mexican desert and surprisingly she said only 80 degrees. So it’s hot , but at least on that day they weren’t roasting! Here are some more of her recent tweets:

Andrew Niccol’s adaptation is true to the book

On the thunderstorm: We were scrambling 2 finish b4 the rain came!

When she is filming until(minus possible reshoots of course): April 27

I read the book after I read the script.
