We Love Writers, But Please Save Your Money!

This probably sounds like a really weird blog entry title, but we’ve been getting a bunch of unsolicited material and we don’t want people to waste their hard earned money doing something that won’t help them. We know a lot of sites are branching out into other YA titles. Kudos to those sites! We love to read. However, book blogging on other books  not something that we are going to be doing here.

We are a Stephenie Meyer and Twilight fan site. That’s always been our primary focus. Sometimes we have diverged, but there has always been a Twilight book or movie or Lexicon staffer connection. In our five years, we’ve only ever written a blog story about four authors other than Stephenie Meyer. Each of those authors had a very strong personal connection to Stephenie Meyer and/or and done some great service for the fans/Lexicon. It’s not that we don’t like other authors, far from it!  Just to name drop some current favorites: Deanna Raybourn, Stephanie Perkins, Myra McEntire, Jon Lewis, J.R. Ward, Elizabeth Eulberg.  It’s that we just don’t have time to do justice to anything else and well…we are what we are: a Twilight and Stephenie Meyer site.

So please! Don’t spend your hard earned money on sending us your books, movies, CD’s. Spend it where it will matter!  Check out book blogging sites that will fit your genre. Just to name a few:

Summit Entertainment Addresses Tsunami Concerns for Breaking Dawn Cast

Summit Entertainment addressed some confusion on how the Tsunami was affecting the Breaking Dawn cast. Various versions of what was happening with the cast started to emerge on Twitter and elsewhere. They released this brief statement on their official Facebook page in order to quell rumor and desensationalize the story as it related to their cast and crew:

“Due to the tsunami advisory, filming of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn has been delayed. All cast and crew were evacuated to the movie production’s base camp. Everyone is safe and sound.”

The cast and crew were filming in the Tofino area which is on the coast. It’s the same area where some of the cliff diving sequences were shot for New Moon. The cast was onsite when moved very early this morning local Pacific Time as a precaution.

Much of the West Coast of North and South America is/was under Tsunami advisory/warning. Additionally, it should be noted that LaPush is also under the same warning. Current thought (as we post this at 1:30 East Coast Time) is that they are not anticipating major damage in the area, but people along the coast should listen to local authorizes and abide by their directives as to what is considered “safe ground”.

Several cast members such as Peter Facinelli and Gil Birmingham took to their Twitters with prayers for the victims. Several organizations such as the Red Cross, Shelter Box, and others are reaching out.

Exciting Line-Up Nashville Twilight Convention 2011

Due to lots of changing filming schedules up in Vancouver that were adjusted due to weather issues, and some actor personal issues, the Nashville Twilight Convention had to change which actors were appearing. In the end, there’s a unique and never seen before line up!

Appearing for the first time in the USA at a Twilight Convention are:

Leah Gibson-(Nettie Eclipse)

Patrick Brennan-(Liam Breaking Dawn)

Guri Weinberg-(Stefan Breaking Dawn)

They also have the return of  two actors to Nashville. They appeared last year in the middle of a freak ice storm that lasted several days, and were a huge hit as they rolled with the punches. They both put on impromptu performances to entertain fans when other actors couldn’t get into town due to closed airports. They both definitely won themselves some fans that day!:

Gil Birmingham

Charlie Bewley

And there are two actors making their Nashville debut:

Jodelle Ferland

Nikki Reed–this is a great opportunity because Nikki doesn’t do a lot of conventions.

There are still tickets available at the door. you can get a day pass for $25 or under. Full information here.

Pending how heavily twitter is being utilized for vital earthquake information we will be live tweeting the event or providing a summary the next day. We need to play this by ear. Look for Lori (Alphie) and Shelley (Something Blue) who will be there.

Kristen Stewart Covenant House Birthday Project

The ladies over at Twilightish wrote in to tell us about this and we are happy to jump on board for a worthy cause.

Here’s part of what the ladies at Twilightish said about this effort:

“To celebrate Kristen Stewart’s birthday on April 9th, Twilightish, PattzStewGlobal and the “Saturday Sites” (see below**) have joined together to raise money for Covenant House, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping child runaways get off the streets.

In her recent Vogue interview, Kristen said that “Her plan is to find a way to help teenage runaways get back on their feet, a subject close to her heart after her role in Welcome to the Rileys.”  What better birthday present than to help fulfill Kristen’s wish?

We’ll be promoting Covenant House on our websites until April 9th, Kristen’s birthday, at which point all funds raised will be given to Covenant House in Kristen Stewart’s name.

Bath & Body Works Takes Summit To Court Over Twilight

Summit LogoAccording to Yahoo:

Bath & Body Works is suing the distributor of the “Twilight” films, hoping to get a declaratory judgment that its “Twilight Woods” line of lotions, shower gels and other products doesn’t infringe the trademark on the hit vampire franchise.

This might be the best toiletry-related lawsuit since Johnny Carson’s estate won a permanent injunction to stop “Here’s Johnny Portable Toilets” in December.

The retailer says it’s under threat from Summit Entertainment because its lotions and other bathroom products allegedly rip off the design and color palate of “Twilight” promo materials.

Confusion in the marketplace? Summit allegedly thinks so. Now Bath & Body Works has beat Summit to the courthouse to stake its claim in federal court in Manhattan.

“The term ‘Twilight’ is used so as to evoke the idea of a particular time of day when the sun is just below the horizon, illuminating the landscape,” the lawsuit says. “Whereas defendant uses the term ‘Twilight’ to refer to defendant’s teen vampire saga.”

Summit is currently involved in a myriad of legal action connected to the Twilight Saga:

Blockbuster not paying for Eclipse DVD’s
Musician who tried to connect his music to Twilight.
The scout who found Twilight wanting more money
Legal action surrounding the illegal distribution of Eclispe photos.

There was also previous legal action regarding the Bella’s jacket and the Twilight perfume that reused a bottle design from another company.

Next Fad: Vampire Facelifts?

Throw this one in the “just when you thought you’d heard of everything” category.

“Legend has it that vampires stay young-looking by feasting on the blood of others, but a new, real-life cosmetic procedure turns the tables. The so-called “vampire facelift” involves injecting a patient’s own blood into her wrinkles and hollow cheeks to turn back the clock. Here’s a brief guide:

What exactly is a “vampire facelift”?
It’s not a facelift really, but rather an in-office cosmetic procedure in which an injectible substance known as Sephyl is used to fill in wrinkles and furrows, and give the appearance of youth. But, unlike common fillers like Juvederm and Restylane, the substance in question is based on a patient’s own blood. Blood is drawn from a patient’s arm, and the platelets are spun out using a Selphyl-brand centrifuge. It’s this “platelet-rich fibrin matrix” that is then injected.”
