Project Book Babe Wrap Up Part 1

Hi All,

It’s Pel here. I’m going to write this one up in first person because I don’t think it will come out right otherwise. So here goes.

After massive plane delays I finally landed in Phoenix, AZ an met up with Be My Escape 6 hours after I was supposed to be there. I landed at 11:30 Arizona time which was 2:30am as far as my body was concerned. So after checking into our hotel we slept in before meeting up with Danobanano, Nena Cullen (our awesome photographer and videographer), Alice Whitlock, and a few others.  Not being co-ordinated at all and being tired, I dropped my cell phone in the parking lot and it hasn’t been right since. That day it turned into a quasi taser/stun gun it would zap me on vibrate for no apparent reason and then ring and no one was there. So I totally apologize to the couple of people I gave my number to, I wasn’t ignoring you, I was getting random messages at best (This actually comes into play later) and I have a bruise from being zapped.

So after standing in line the incredibly organized crew of volunteers (hat’s off guys) had people checking in  in groups of 30 or so.  I met up with Kara from Twilight moms and we staged a “dress throwdown” photo. Seriously, dress aside, we do actually like each other on only live a few miles apart. I also met a ton of Lexiconers *waves hi* I can only remember the name of one person because I was so tired, and the only reason I remember her name is because it’s the same as my own, so shout out to Laura.  I also met one of the people from the very cool Cullen Boys Blog. I also met, really quickly, Allison from Twifans.

So, before the author panel started there were two warm up bands both were really great. Then Faith, who the event was being done for, came out and thanked everyone. We’ve said it before, but Faith(click for video) is one classy lady, and a person who without asking had a bevy of authors from different genres and different publishing houses, who had never met each other before, volunteer to do this event. Please, on a personal note, if you can even give just a dollar and forgo a cup of morning coffee, it’s going to a great cause.

Next up Shannon Hale of The Princess Academy and Austenland fame acted as emcee along with J.S. Lewis of the Grey Griffins series. They were both hilarious. Seriously, they should do stand up. I’ve never read J.S. Lewis before, but I am now. If he’s half as hilarious in print as he was on stage than his books must be fantastic. They had everything from an Aretha Franklin number sung by James A Owen with back up dancers Shannon Hale, JS Lewis, Laini Taylor(very pregnant), and Janette Rallison,  and appearances of Stephenie’s dress on the body of  Dean Lory escorted by PJ Haarsma(see video).

Now when it came time for the author panel to be introduced Shannon Hale remembered everything except one thing. It’s hilarious at around 2:40 when Shannon realizes what…er…who she actually forgot.

Stand by for more later when we describe the auction and the signing.

Miley Cyrus on Edward Cullen vs Robert Pattinson

Miley Cyrus was talking to Teen Vogue and expressed something we’ve seen a lot of on our boards and blog. She said, “I’m not a huge Rob Pattinson fan. Girls aren’t really in love with Rob; they’re in love with Edward.”

So what is your take? What category do you fall into, and if you don’t fall into a category here what did we miss in our poll?

Borders Gives Twilight Fans a Thank You

This just in from Borders. They wanted to thank Twilighters for coming to their stores to celebrate the DVD and book releases, so this is what they are going to do: Their merchandising team is doing a first in its coupon efforts here: Twilight fan appreciation. What they did was create a coupon that is Buy ANYTHING in the Twilight Saga (books, DVD, apparel, you name it) that is at the store and get the next item 50% OFF. It’s an in-store only coupon (meaning not available for online purchase). It’s the first time any of their items like the sweetheart candy, Edward Cullen doll or t-shirts have ever had a discount.

From what Borders told us, “The thing is the fan sites we love are the only folks that are going to get this coupon to share with the community so it truly is appreciation for you all as it won’t be posted anywhere else – not even our site until you all have put it out there. Ending this email as I started it, with a BIG thanks and hope this offer is something that will help the fans get their hands on those items they really want that are out there :- )”

The offer is good April 6-12, 2009 Get the coupon here.

Media Blvd Interviews Kristen Stewart

Media Blvd interviewed Kristen Stewart about her role in Adventureland and the upcoming New Moon. Kudos to Media Blvd on some refreshing new questions! On New Moon, Kristen stated:

I’m excited to get back into it. We pick up, right where we left off. I’m not creating a new character. I’m not trying to get into a head space, for the first time. And, I’m excited because the story is scaled down a little bit. Edward leaves Bella. The entire first movie is based on them being together, but if you take that away, there’s still a story, which I think is impressive. It’s not just these two characters who make it. She’s solitary. She’s entirely depressed. She matures. Taylor Lautner is still playing Jacob, and that’s the best thing. And, he’s buff too. That’s so important. He’s so good. In this film, we have to have a counterpart that is going to briefly outshine what was so great in the first one, which is a feat, and I think that he’s got it, so I can’t wait to see how he is able to pull Bella out of what he does. She’s like a zombie and he’s like the light. It’s such a tragic story. She’s like, “That’s who I should be with, but I’m totally in love with the guy I shouldn’t be with.” That’s how girls are.

Cartoonize the World Draws Ashley Greene And Creates Comic Strip

The folks at Cartoonize the World have just added Ashely Greene to their every growing collection.

Previously they have done Robert Pattisnon, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner.

See their site for a larger version.

High School To Host New Moon Shooting

Since this one has made the airwaves (radio and TV) in Vancouver, it’s hardly under wraps anymore.  The New Moon movie has converted a local high school into mataching the look of last year’s Portland area schools so that they can film a variety of interior high school scenes there.  Exact filimg times are not known, though rumor has it they will be shooting during evenings and vacations so as not to disrupt the normal school schedule.

Gil Birmingham Plays Guitar at Accio Con

Accio Con took place this past weekend in Florida. Among the many guests was Gil Birmingham, Billy Black in the Twilight movie.  This marked the first time Gil attended a Twilight Con.

RobPattinson.com has some excellent coverage including a Kellan Lutz video. Check out their site. TY to Jennifer.

Twilighters Anonymous also did live podcasting from the event. You can catch the archive here.

Rob Pattinson’s Spit for $17.99!

Hello people, I’m Jaden Nation.  Due to a perfectly-executed mixture of bribery, blackmail and Becka Grapsy (the three B’s) I am now a sorely-underpaid employee of the Twilight Lexicon.  For the past couple of months I’ve been running a video blog about the New Moon movie and now the Lex offered to host my videos (in simple terms: Bailey got nothin on me).  No, just kidding.

We’re having some bizarre problems (probably aliens) with uploading this week’s vid.  So if, for example, you’re interested in getting a free sample of Robert Pattinson’s saliva on your Twilight DVD, plz click the image below to see the video.  You will be transported to a world of magic. (I have vanquished the aliens and now you can watch the video in the post, Clearly Jaden is still new around here)

Also, this video includes some Bald Content.  For anybody from my usual channel asking what happened to my previous curly golden locks of hair: this is what happened:

Jaden and Sweeney

Stunning last-minute Photoshop magic, eh?  Note my ghostly (ghastly?) appearance and the POOF of hair protruding from the side of my head.  It’s my headhunter lock.

Music Feature Saturday

For today’s music feature we bring you a  new voice in the Twilight universe.  This week the Lexicon is proud to feature Aaron Galbreath.  Aaron wrote the song “Bleed” after being inspired by his wife’s love of Stephenie’s books and the amazing love story between Edward and Bella. The lyrics tell Bella’s story of longing while Edward is away.  You can hear Bleed at Aaron’s website.  You can check out Aaron’s recent performance of Bleed below.  We also conducted an interview with Aaron.

Why did you become inspired to write a song for New Moon?

My wife and her best friend are huge fans, so I gave it a shot. Turns out, it’s a great book, great epic love story. I tend to write songs about love and relationships so I was immediately connected to the subject matter.

Check out the rest of the interveiw here.  We also have the lyrics to Bleed for you to check out and comment on.

UPDATE:  If you would like a free download of the song, you can get it here.
