100 Monkeys Launches New Website & Contest

100 Monkeys, the band Jackson Rathbone is in, has just launched a brand new website. Currently the site has a video up that is hilarious, unique, and off-beat. Instead of the boys switching instruments they switch costumes in the video.

Additionally, the site has info on the newly added Allentown gig which is June 14 at 8:00 at the Crocodile Rock Cafe. Tickets are $10.00, and the show is open to all ages. Buy tickets here.

It gets even better.

The band is having a contest, full details will be posted tomorrow, but here’s a little preview:
It’s open to anyone who is a MySpace friend of the band on or before June 11th, or if they visit 100MonkeysMusic.com and submit their email address on or before June 11th.
Question: Now what do they win?
Answer: How’s tickets to the Allentown  show and a up close and person meet and greet with the band sound?

So, for heavens sake, stop reading our blog and go friend the 100 Monkeys on MySpace and go sign up for their mailing list!

Photogallery 100 Monkeys at Khyber

Larry at PROnetworks (the guy who recently shot that great footage of Michael Welch, Justin Chon, and Christian Serratos at the  American Dream premiere) shot some amazing footage of the 100 Monkeys concert at Khyber in Philadelphia yesterday. 87 photos in all that totally capture the energy of the band.

Khyber is a really small space. We are guessing that it held about 150 people in a room that was about 15 feet wide and 100 feet long. The drop ceiling was also pretty low. All this lead to a very sweaty environment in the audience even with the A/C on.

Now if you think we were sweaty, imagine the band, 4 guys their amps and a row of fresnels (lights), and monitors that all put out heat. Seriously the stage lighting on the keyboard was practically on top of the keyboard. It’s a wonder the band could see a thing. You pretty much could have wrung them all out after the first 10 minutes. The guys were dripping wet after the second number, and we are sure the folks up at the front were sprayed quite a bit (not that they minded) every time the guys flicked their hair out of their face. However, other than commenting occasionally as they switched off instruments on how hot they were, you never would have known it.  100 Monkeys has energy like you wouldn’t believe. They are completely committed to their music and entertaining the crowd. They clearly feed off the energy.

Don’t just take our word for it, here’s what Larry had to say:

“The band features Ben Graupner, Jackson Rathbone, Jerad Anderson, and Ben Johnson, all of whom switch up on instruments throughout the show. For example, Rathbone started on drums, moved to guitar, then on to keyboards, back to guitar, and so on. All are excellent singers as well, with Rathbone primarily providing lead vocals.

…Fans came from as far away as California

for the gig, although most had traveled from points up and down the East Coast. I met some wonderful lades from Baltimore and Allentown, and was thrilled to finally see some folks from Twilight Moms and Twilight Lexicon in person.”

Get Larry’s full report and pictures on PROnetworks

We are still editing the video footage that we saw and hope to have it up tomorrow. Good news is that there are more 100 Monkeys shows in the area and that the band will shortly be launching their website.

The latest show is in Allentown, PA on June 14 at 8:00 at the Crocodile Rock Cafe. Tickets are $10.00 (and in our opinion are easily worth double that) and even better, the show is open to all ages. So, under 21, no problem you can go! Buy the tickets before they sell out, because you know they will, and at $10.00 you can’t beat the price. Get the details here, and you can buy the tickets here.

The Lexicon is also going to have something incredible coming up in conjunction with the band, just working out the details.

Peter Facinelli to Launch New Website

Peter Facinelli’s official MySpace has announced that Peter will be launching an official website as of June 1st. There’s a minor sneak peak here if you want to bookmark the address.

Also, Peter now has his own YouTube Channel and Official Twitter. So all those supposed “real accounts” out there BUSTED, not to mention all the fake Kellan’s, Ashley’s, etc that were linking to fake Peter’s ALL BUSTED!

TY to Emma of Twilight Treasury for the heads up and congrats to Emma for being a member of the creative team. Also, shout out to Chelle, Peter webmaster/MySpace maintainer.

Edward’s Music Poll

Ok I know this is a day late but I was at the 100 Monkeys and have some great footage of that to show you later!!  Now on to the actual music poll.

First let me start by saying that there were so many great songs submitted that it was very hard to narrow down which ones to include in the poll itself.  Some bands, like Red, Muse, Trading Yesterday,  could clearly have more than one song but in all fairness only one was chosen for the list.  I do suggest checking out the bands other stuff though because it is great!

So just like last week we have a list of songs with links below and then there is the poll for you to vote in. As always feel free to comment on what you’ve chosen and why.  I think it is trcky picking just one Edward song becuase he has such varied emotions in this book  so sometimes it helps to know where you think the song fits in order for us  to understand it.

**Slight technical difficulty with the poll. It seems you can only put 20 songs in one poll so I am creating a second poll for the rest of the songs. Please be patient.

One last thing “Hate Me” is a giving it will not be included in the poll.  And just a reminder this poll is for fun and has nothing to do with the actual New Moon Soundtrack.

New Statue in Montepulciano

According to Twilighters 2.0 a new statue appeared in the town square. They were speculating maybe a saint for St. Marcus Day. If you look closely it’s on what looks like a platform that people could carry the statue around in the street (think the statue of the Madonna traveling around in Godfather II).  It looks like there are actually two statues: one in the background, that is golden and probably St. Marcus, and the other in the foreground that is probably a chained vampire.

They also talked about a newly “installed gutter” I think they mean the storm drain kind, not the kind on the side of the building, which would probably be the entrance to the Volturi’s lair.

Sam Bradley Interview

For this weekend’s music feature we have an  artist whose music appeared on the Twilight Soundtrack. Sam Bradley  co-wrote the song Never Think.  Sam current lives in Vancouver and has been touring in various locations in the US and Canada.  Sam’s current touring schedule can be seen below along with his interveiw.  I also posted a video of Sam performing Never Think/Too Far Gone.  You can check out all of Sam’s videos at his myspace page which also has some great demo songs posted as well.

What are the inspirations for your lyrics and music?

Sea horses, romantic novels and a general love for myself.

(So ladies if you have any romance novel lying around send them Sam’s way =P His fanmail address can be found on his myspace page!)

How would you classify your music? Is there a genre you feel the music fits into?

I would like to attempt as many genres as possible. But currently I think I sit in the rock, folk, soul category. I am a fantastic rapper though. (Oh Really?? Would anyone else like to hear demo rap songor is it just me???)

You can read the rest of Sam’s interview HERE.  Please stop by Sam’s myspace to check out the music.
