Various Twilight Cast Members at Comic Con 2010

Both Anna Kendrick, Billy Burke, and Michael Sheen will be at Comic Con this year, but not in connection to Twilight. Anna is going to be promoting Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Billy is going to be promoting Drive Angry. If you are going to Comic Con their panels should be relatively accessible. Now Michel on the other hand is going to be there with Tron Legacy, and that will draw quite the crowd. Access may be tougher, so plan ahead.

Comic Con always has other actors present to represent various series that don’t per say have a movie out in the current year. This year according to their press release, “Kiowa Gordon, Bronson Pelletier and Kirsten Prout  appear at Comic Con 2010 in San Diego CA on July 25th 2010. They will sign autographs from 1:30pm to 5pm at the Comic Con 2010 Convention held at the San Diego Conevention center.  Twilight Fans may bring any Twilight merchandise to be signed by these 3 talented actors.Information on Comic Con 2010 signings can be found at  http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci_autographs_grp.php

Now for all of you who may be at Comic Con and need a fanfiction fix. 100 Monkeys Summer Tour 2010

This just in from 100 Monkeys:

“Los Angeles band 100 Monkeys have been nothing short of active these past few months after the first part of their fan-picked 100 City Tour came to an end. Two new singles, Kol Pix and Future Radio, were debuted worldwide earlier this month and made their first radio appearance on the Jimmy Star Show this past week. 100 Monkeys also announced the release of the first disc of a two-disc live CD titled “Live and Kickin’ Part 1.”  The songs on the CD were recorded during the first-half of the 100 City Tour and will be released just before they leave on tour.  In less than four days they?ll embark on a Summer Tour consisting of twelve cities which run up and down the west coast.  These guys have been nothing short of busy.

100 Monkeys are highly driven by their fan base and all of the people who support them.  Their last tour, the 100 City Tour was picked by the fans themselves who voted for the band to come to their city.  Those cities who had the most votes or pleas to come to their city, were setup to be visited.  Two cities picked by the fans that now stand out more than ever are Sacramento, CA and San Francisco, CA, which will be played on the upcoming Summer Tour.  Sacramento is a city they have yet to visit on any tour, and was set to be played in January but ended up having to be cancelled.  San Francisco is a city they haven?t played since early 2009 and during their last tour also sadly had to cancel.

Their Summer Tour begins on July 20th, 2010, and runs through to August 6th, 2010, and will include the following cities (in order):  Hermosa Beach, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Las Vegas, NV; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; Vancouver, BC, Canada; Fresno, CA; Reno, NV; Sacramento, CA; and wraps up in Los Angeles, CA.

100 Monkey members, Ben Graupner, Lawrence Abrams, Jerad Anderson, Ben Johnson and Jackson Rathbone (who appears in such movies as The Last Airbender, and the Twilight Saga) are looking forward to visiting all twelve cities, but Sacramento, CA and San Francisco, CA, are ones in which they can?t wait to play as they were skipped the last time around and it will be a chance to hopefully see some new faces.

In an effort to  pack the house at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA and The Venue in Sacramento, CA, the Official 100 Monkeys Street Team is offering up goodies for those fans and supporters who wish to help make these shows truly sensational.  These two cities were picked at random for the  “goodie giveaway”because  they were previously canceled on the 100 City Tour.  Fans are being asked to print the flyers and take pictures of where they are posted throughout these cities.  Fans who submit five pictures/venues to [email protected] will score themselves a signed flyer by all of the guys (and maybe more since we’re feeling generous)!  If you need flyers for either of these events, please email the Street Team.  For any fans wanting to go above and beyond and live around San Francisco, CA area, feel free to text your local radio stations Live 105 (Text# 36105) and Alice @ 97.3 (Text# 25423) requesting 100 Monkeys.  For those fans living around the Sacramento, CA area, anyone who logs on to http://www.krxq.net/can also requests 100 Monkeys on the form on their website.

Recently 100 Monkeys was featured in Rolling Stone as one of “Bamboozle 2010’s Five Breakout Bands to Watch, their honest and catchy lyrics combined with the fusion of Rock, Jazz, Blues, Funk, and even borderline Country, creates a truly eclectic sound; one which the band has coined  “onomatopoetic, but for the sake of simplicity, we’ll call it funky rock-n-roll,” and a show not to be missed.

Just as unique as the band’s sound, are their live performances, which feature their now patented  Monkey Switcheroo, in which band members exchange instruments, often during a song.  Additionally, fans attending live shows look forward to the nightly Improv Song, where the band takes title suggestions from the audience and turns it into a lyrical masterpiece.

Official Twilight Convention Boston

We are at the Official Twilight Convention in Boston. This convention marks the debut of Julia Jones at an on the road convention, and it’s her hometown! Kellan Lutz will also be here Sunday. It’s the first time he’s done a convention since March.  Follow along with us as we live tweet starting at around 3:00pm est today.

Stephenie Fansite Junket:Part 2 Volvos, Angryedward, Reshoots, and more

In another release of the fansite press junket with Stephenie Meyer today, Twifans has up some additional information about the picking your battles on a movie set and how thing get in, get cut, and get reshot.

“Kim: Okay, we have a question about the Angry Edward, and how hot he is. When he gets angry, he pulls up, and he’s like…ya know……if you ever touch her against her will again. All the fans just love it. We all love it and everybody went crazy. The members, our members, we all wanna know about angry Edward.

Alison: Why do you think the fandom thinks Angry Edward is SO hot?

SM: Ya know it’s funny about this scene, and Meghan’s giving me the eye. That’s the one I walked out on, on the dailies because in my head that scene was so much different. In the movie Edward is quite separate motivation-ally from the book Edward. At this point in the film in the story for me he’s gotten past this. Like he’s realized “I can’t act like a teenage boy anymore. I have to give her space. I have to be the mature one here.” And in that scene in the book, he has, icy calm control. He is very gentle. He is very soft spoken. He is very mature. So when I see him….and plus ya know, the movies are unable to bring to life some of the elements in the mythology. If Edward had, in anger, grabbed Jacob by the shoulder, his arm would have come off. And the fact that Taylor is uninjured, and that he just kind of sits there…..bothered me. So I’m like…wait! If we are gonna go for it, tear his arm off. Ya know. And it’s hard for them, because blood puts you over the limit and stuff, and they would not tear off Jacob’s arm. I’m like….if we want angry Edward, I wanna see some blood. They had already filmed that day, so we couldn’t redo it but, people have responded really well to it.”

New Fan Junket Friday!

The four fansites that got the coveted visit with Stephenie Meyer have posted another clip from their four hour conversation. They’ve titled it “Leg Hitches, Freaky Fred, Edward, and More…” If that doesn’t grab your curiosity, here’s a snippit where the ladies from Twilight Series Theories got Stephenie to answer some questions about Fred from The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner.

Twilight Series Theories: What is it about his human characteristics or his trait that caused him to have that ability when he is a vampire?

Stephenie: I see it as Fred’s backstory. He is in college, a little bit older like Riley and I see him as being – he is beautiful now because that is what happens, but him as being kind of a science nerd. Sort of quiet and sort of not liking other people’s attention. And of course when you live in a room full of newborns, that’s gonna be an even stronger need. So him, having that need to not be seen manifested in that way. And of course that makes him kind of cool.

Twilight Series Theories: Well, it is weird because he has got this ability to make people feel so repelled that they are nauseated. I think that is where they got the smell thing from.

Stephenie: I think so, but for me it was like completely a feeling in your gut. It wasn’t really a mental thing, more like a visceral and really, really potent. When you have to learn fast when you are in a group like that and so he is in an elevated learning program and he gets good really quickly. And, he is really, really smart. I liked to think about the newborns and what it would be like to be so unable to focus and all the time all you can think about is this driving need that you have and you are barely human. But if you can stop and slow down, you are able to think and you are really bright actually and he is able to do that on his own which makes him unique and special.

Gil Birmingham to Be Honored at La Push Quileute Days Festival

gilbirminghamGil Birmingham will be honored at the annual Quileute Days Festival in La Push. You can see the entire schedule of events here. The event is open to the public and admission is free.

According to the press release:

“In honor of actor Gil Birmingham’s portrayal of tribal chairman Billy Black and his telling of the legends of the Quileute tribe in the block-buster film Twilight Saga Eclipse, the Quileute Nation has invited him to participate in Quileute Days, Saturday, July 16 at the Akalat Center Grounds. Quileute Days will run Friday through Sunday and will include traditional tribal games, softball games, a parade, vendors and more. The annual event is free to the public.

“We are delighted to welcome Gil to La Push and Quileute Days,” tribal spokeswoman Jackie Jacobs said. “It is an honor to have him join us in this very special celebration of Quileute culture and traditions. How wonderful to have Gil Birmingham, who portrays Council Chairman Billy Black in ‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ meet the true Chairwoman Anna Rose Councell-Geyer and the other members of the Quileute Tribal Council.”

On Saturday, Birmingham will join in the festival parade at noon, hold a 3 p.m. autograph session — a $20 contribution is required(proceeds benefit the elders of the Quileute Nation) — and will make a 4 p.m. guest appearance at the Talent Showcase.

“I am truly honored to be invited to the Quileute Nation this weekend as they celebrate their culture and traditions,” said Gil Birmingham (Comanche) from his home in Los Angeles, CA. “In the three Twilight Saga films, I attempted to portray Billy Black and Quileute tribal members with honor and respect. The entire premise of the Twilight books and movies is based on Quileute tribal legends which are deeply rooted in the ancient cultural traditions. It was important to me that the legends, as well as an honest portrayal of modern day Native Americans, come through in the film Eclipse.”

The theme of Quileute Days this year is “History through Our Traditions,” focusing on education about the authentic Quileute history, legends and culture.  Stick games — a traditional betting game — will begin at 6 p.m. Friday and at 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Also, there will be a Jacob Black and Bella Swan look-alike contest.”

Teen Choice Awards 2010: Don’t Forget to Vote

The full list of Teen choice award is now available for voting. So if you meet the age requirements,  go and pick your favorites! Twilight is featured in the following categories:

Scene Stealer Female: Dakota Fanning, Ashley Greene, and Anna Kendrick are nominated for New Moon. Also in the same category is Betty White.  This will be a tough one for Twilight to win.

Scene Stealer Male: Kellan Lutz for New Moon

Chemistry: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are nominated for New Moon. Note, Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift are also nominated for Valentine’s Day.

Fantasy Movie: New Moon. This is also a tough category with Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter also nominated.

Chaske Spencer Talks Openly About Battling Addiction

In 2009, a person who was in rehab with Chaske Spencer, decided to go public with the information that Chaske Spencer had gone to rehab selling his story to TMZ.  Chaske Spencer responded by putting the following statement on his blog:

“Personal Message from Chaske Spencer Setting the Record Straight

To all the wonderful, incredibly loyal fans:

For those of you that read that I was in rehab, I wanted to make sure you heard the truth from me directly. Yes it is true, that I was in rehab, however it was over 19 months ago, long before NEW MOON was even on my radar. It was a pivotal time in my life where I was lucky enough to have supportive friends and family to help me get healthy. I am grateful that I have been clean and sober now for 19 months and cannot imagine my life if I had continued using drugs and alcohol. Almost everything else that was written about this is blatantly false and we are exploring our legal options. That was my past, and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to create a new future for myself. I encourage anyone who is in a similar place to seek support from their friends and family and know that without them, I would not have had the chance to be where I am now.

I want to thank all of you for the support you have shown, and continue to show. I appreciate each and every one of you.

Chaske revealed more information to People Magazine. According to People Chaske talks openly how what started out as drinking three cans of beer a day to deal with the pain of his parents’ divorce eventually lead to an additional cocaine and heroin habit by age 21 that cost him jailtime, his reputation, and nearly his life.  He openly talks about how he hit bottom, went to rehab, got his life together, and is open about his past mistakes.

According to People Chaske stated, “I got pretty tight with the wolf guys. I took each of them aside and told them I’m an addict and an alcoholic and that’s why I don’t drink.”

As part of his sobriety, Chaske now spends time giving back to his community through work with United Global Shift, a nonprofit organization that works with Native Americans.

Kellan Lutz to Appear at the Do Something Awards

The Do Something Awards will broadcast LIVE from the Hollywood Palladium on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 9PM EST on VH1.

According to the groups press release “The ceremony will celebrate a new generation of do-ers and world changers by honoring five young people for their commitment to social change. DoSomething.org is one of the largest organizations in the US that helps young people rock causes they care about. Kellan Lutz was just announced as being among the attendees.

Currently Nikki Reed is Do Something’s featured spokesperson on their school supplies campaign that that are doing in conjunction with Staples. There is no word if Nikki will be attending as of yet.

Ashley Greene has also worked with the organization in their Jeans for Teens Campaign.
