Fan Encounter With Breaking Dawn Cast in Baton Rogue

A fan from Letters to Twilight was in Baton Rogue on business and she had a great encounter with the cast. She also describes the vibe of the area locals when it comes to filming in the area.

“I’m in Baton Rouge for a conference (they were really convinced after I suggested the location because “it’s more affordable and saving the extra money adds to our bottom line at the end of year”!) and have had the awesome privilege of hanging out with a number of the Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn cast. *Not Robsten. Damn.* But I have pictures to prove that they are actually here in Louisiana! I was with Erik Odom (Who? I know! He’s Peter, nomad- Jasper’s friend), Michael Sheen, and some others.

I read LTT all the time and also was curious about the lack of BR photos available. The thing is they really are blending in like regular people down here. (Like someone even thought I was Bella, told me to get on set & into bed with “Edward!” I didn’t ask questions) It’s crazy to imagine, but now that I’ve seen it myself I understand why the locals are keeping it quiet.

They are just nice people and you feel bad for interrupting them to be “that crazy Twihard” that has spotted the Twilight star. And now needs a picture… Or 3… They are just working, and have the same 24 hours in a day that we all do. I saw them in the lobby walking around and felt odd stopping them to say hi. It took me a day to speak to one. When I did he, was super nice and introduced me to everyone. It was epic.”

Summit Entertainment Having Problems With Blockbuster Video

According to Home Media Magazine, Summit Entertainment is having a problem getting paid from Blockbuster video ( the company has filed for Bankruptcy protection) over Eclipse, Hurt Locker, and Red DVDs.

“Specifically, Summit last November shipped Blockbuster 426,180 DVDs (excluding widescreen) of Eclipse for unit prices ranging from $6 to $20.20 each, in addition to 92,290 copies of the film on Blu-ray Disc (excluding widescreen) for unit prices from $6 to $23.99 each.

Summit, which claims Eclipse was the fourth-biggest home video release of 2010, contends Blockbuster has generated $8.3 million in rental revenue from the shipments.

The studio also has outstanding invoices for 1,710 copies of The Hurt Locker on Blu-ray for $23.99 each, and 1,620 copies of Robin Hood Unrated Blu-ray/DVD combo for $24.99 each.

Separately, Summit last month shipped Blockbuster 294,990 DVD copies (including special editions) of Red at prices of from $6 to $18 each, and 66,480 Blu-ray copies of Red at prices of from $6 to $23.99 each.

In the complaint, Summit said it is “a relatively small company, not one of the ‘Big Six’ media conglomerate ‘major’ movie studios” that it says can more easily accommodate delayed payments.

“It will be a significant hardship for Summit if this receivable is not paid,” read the complaint.”

See the whole story here.

EDITED :Reuters is also now commenting on the story.

“Blockbuster representatives spoke with Summit’s management on a January 28 conference call about unpaid bills for DVDs including the “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” which was Summit’s second-most popular DVD and No. 4 among all studios last year.

“To Summit’s surprise and dismay, the debtors informed Summit that the debtors would not pay Summit with respect to products that were shipped post-petition (after the bankruptcy filing) because the debtors lacked the funds to do so,” said a court document.

Summit’s president, Stephen Nickerson, said in a court document that Blockbuster will take in $8.3 million alone from the “Eclipse” DVD and he called the unpaid bills a “significant hardship” for the small studio.

Blockbuster filed for bankruptcy in September, weighed down by its debts and stung by video-on-demand and competitors such as mail-order pioneer Netflix Inc and Redbox Inc, a Coinstar Inc unit that rents movies through kiosks.”

It would appear that Blockbuster obtained the discs well after it filed for protection, at least 3 months. So a question for all you lawyers out there, how does that affect Summit? Did Blockbuster make a deal in bad faith, or is this standard Bankruptcy procedure that Summit should have understood?

The Girlfriend Needs a Boost: Auctions Include an Autographed Poster of the Trio

MTV’s Hollywood Crush has a great story up in how it is that the movie The Girlfriend, co-starring Jackson Rathbone, is looking for further funding. Indie films go to festivals like Sundance, Toronto, Tribecca etc. in the hopes of two things: critical acclaim and distribution funding.

Sometimes films are wildly lucky. For example, Charlie Bewley’s indie film “Like Crazy” won the top prize at Sundance and had three studios in a bidding war wanting to distribute it. There is even some OSCAR talk surrounding the film starting. Most films are not near as fortunate.  Peter Facinelli even recently made a YouTube video to bring awareness to a friend’s project.

Director Justin Lerner and the production team Jerad Anderson, Kristina Lauren Anderson and Shaun O’Banion explained to MTV’s Hollywood Crush what the situation with The Girlfriend is:

“As many people know, the costs of finishing a film, making prints, submitting to festivals, as well as publicity and marketing (the big one) are, as Kevin Smith pointed out at Sundance this year, sometimes more costly than an indie film’s entire budget. Therein lies the dilemma for a complex, artistic, intelligent film like ours,” they wrote.

“So far, there has been a strong outpouring of support, and donations have been varied—as large as $100 and as small as $5 or $10… every little bit helps and allows us the chance of getting the film out to a wider audience, and to ensure that those who have supported the film may have an opportunity to see it in a theater near them. We also hope to donate a portion of the final amount to the NDSS (National Down Syndrome Society).”

The production team has set up a Indie Gogo site to try to raise funds  http://www.indiegogo.com/Girlfriend-2 for your contribution there are a variety of perks ranging from having your name listed to meals with the cast.

There’s also a new item, on EBAY. It’s an 100% authentic,  8 X 10 glossy New Moon photo autographed by Kristen Stewart. Taylor Lautner, and Robert Pattinson. Also the signatures look pretty good because it wasn’t signed in a rush, great collector’s item! You can bid on it on EBAY here.

If you can donate please do http://www.indiegogo.com/Girlfriend-2. The film has a positive message about people with Down’s Syndrome, and actor Evan Schneider does a wonderful job!

Ross Matthews Interviews Charlie Bewley at Sundance

It’s a little surreal to see “Ross the Intern” interviewing Charlie.

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning Make Best Dressed Under 25 List

MSN has selected both Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning as part of their Best Dressed Under 25 list.

“The Twilight star has carved out a style personality that finds itself somewhere between Bella Swan’s Pacific Northwest hoodies and jeans, and the rebellious aesthetic of Joan Jett, her character in The Runaways. Of course all this is glammed up by the necessities of Hollywood. Stewart may be a reluctant denizen of the spotlight, but she’s not afraid to show off her long legs in skin-baring minis. Herve Leger, Valentino, messy hair, short skirts and toned-down sparkle are her go-tos.”

Jodelle’s Music Video Connection: Keeping it in the Family

Jodelle Ferland was recently seen in the newest music video from Sapphire. We know know how that came about:

“And the band is always eager to show fans their video. Nanaimo actress Jodelle Ferland, who has made a name for herself as Bree Tanner in the movie Twilight Saga: Eclipse, stars in the video for the song “Oh, My, What a Fine Day.” The band and Ferland were introduced after her brother Jeremey recorded violin on some Sapphire recordings.”
