Chris Weitz Comments on Eclipse

chris-weitz-tuxChris Weitz chatted with People magazine about Eclipse and the Oscars.

“I’m looking forward to the sleeping bag scene, I gotta say,” Weitz tells PEOPLE. “That’s going to be very steamy…Weitz, who is not helming Eclipse – director David Slade is taking over – says he is showing his Twilight pride on Oscar Sunday by voting for Anna Kendrick, who plays Bella’s pal Jessica in the series. (She is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role opposite George Clooney in Up in the Air.)

“I voted for her of course, because she’s my homie,” says Weitz, adding that New Moon – which is being released on DVD and Blu-Ray March 20 – would have been up for more awards if the Academy had a different voting body.”

Robert Pattinson: Remember Me Podcast

This just in from Summit Entertainment:

“We’ve got something really special & unique to share with you today.  Rob Pattinson sat down with the filmmakers of REMEMBER ME — Allen Coulter (director), Nick Osborne (producer) and Will Fetters (writer) for a long form candid chat about the film and working together.

The “Rob Pattinson & Filmmaker Chat” will be rolled out in 3 parts, available on iTunes, as an audio podcast which can be found here —
http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/remember-me/id359811752

Rob and the filmmakers share revealing insights into the genesis of the film (Part 1), the character of Tyler (Part 2) and the chemistry between Rob and his co-stars Emilie de Ravin and Ruby Jerins (Part 3), who plays his little sister in the film.  Part 1 is now available — look out for the next installments in the coming days.”

David Slade Gets Artistic

DavidSladeArtDavid Slade is entering the realm of home decorating…no, we aren’t making it up.

“Fans of David Slade, the acclaimed director of cult hits including the psycho-sexual thriller “Hard Candy” and the graphic novel noirish vampire flick “30 Days of Night,” might be shocked to discover that the man has a sweeter side. While working on his third film, “Twilight 3: Eclipse,” the filmmaker has somehow found the time to fill his Fubear Studios website with intriguing illustrations and downright freaky animated films. He also has learned the art of giclee printing. Among his first available works: a quartet of prints starring Scarfdog and Duck, [shown left].”

Jamie Campbell Bower at InStyle partyHBO has a new fantasy series in the works with a cast that includes Sean Bean, Jennifer Ehle and others.

“It’s official, HBO has given the go ahead for the upcoming series Game of Thrones based on the book series “A Song of Ice and Fire” by George R.R. Martin. Talk of the pilot being picked up has been floating around the rumor mill for about a year now but things didn’t become official until March 2nd…HBO has requested a total of ten episodes, including the existing pilot. Filming is said to resume this June, locations include Northern Ireland and Morocco. Although the number of actual seasons is dependant on ratings, it’s said each season will cover the storyline of at least one book.”

Chris Weitz Interview on Buzz Sugar

ChrisNMNot really sure what’s going on here. They might have released their interview material ahead of an embargo, may be having technical problems, or gone with a re-edit. The link to the interview on Buzz Sugar is now dead, but you can see a bunch of the content of the interview on Twilighters Anonymous.

There are lots of different editions of the New Moon DVD. Which bonus features are you particularly excited about?

I’m excited that my voice will finally be heard! For me, the fun thing was doing the commentary with Peter Lambert, my editor, because it kind of re-created the atmosphere in the cutting room. Peter’s a really funny guy, and we were able to delve into not only the behind-the-scenes moments, but to explain why certain things were shot or cut together in certain ways. So that, for me, was the most fun.

When you go back and watch it again, are there things you’d like to change if you could?

I would like to never have shot Rob and Kristen running through the forest and Kristen’s just turned into a vampire. Because everybody always laughs and it makes me feel terrible. [Laughs] I would have shot it a different way so it wouldn’t get that response. But otherwise, I’m very happy with things.”

On a personal note, we agree with Chris on the forest commentary. We spoofed the wide-spread, giggling, fan reaction on our Christmas video.

The Lexicon Turns Four!!

Happy4Bday

The date was March 6, 2006.  Very few people had heard of Twilight at the time.  In fact, fanfiction.net  only had about 35 stories posted under the Twilight heading.  When you looked up the name Stephenie Meyer it was probably spelled with an “a” and if you said the name to someone they most likely replied, “Who?”  The number of Twilight related websites on the Internet could be counted on two hands.  There was no Twitter.  There was no Facebook.  There was just the hope of someone finding your web address.  And so it was with little expectation that the Twilight Lexicon went live.

When we opened the site we honestly thought that maybe 100 people would ever visit us.  We celebrated and cheered when the hit counter reached 500.  We were amazed when people actually recognized us at book signings.  And we never ever thought that we’d end up on a convention stage telling our stories or going on set visits or even on the red carpet.  We have always been a couple of fans of a really fun series who feel so fortunate that we have been able to ride this wild ride.

In honor of our birthday, we – Pel and Alphie (Laura and Lori) – have gone and done something that we haven’t done since before Eclipse was published: we have recorded a podcast!  If you were around “back in the day” you might remember that we called them Forkscasts.  We stopped doing them because, frankly, other people were doing it better than us!  But we figured we’d record one for this occasion and fill it full of stories of things we’ve done over the last few years.  Hopefully you will all be entertained and laugh along with us as we prove just how silly we can be.

Now, a birthday wouldn’t be a birthday without gifts!  As a thank you to our readers who have kept us on-line and come back every day for their daily Twilight fix, we will be giving away special prizes every Wednesday for the rest of this month.  We promise you that these are prizes that you will want!  All you have to do to win the prizes is answer the trivia questions that we will post on the next few Wednesdays.  All the trivia questions will come from the stories we tell in the birthday podcast, so even if you haven’t been around since the beginning, you can still have a chance to win.  Keep checking back for more info on how to enter.  And watch our facebook and twitter pages because we might give away a few things over there, too!

But for now, leave a post to this entry about how you found the Lexicon or your first memory of visiting the site.  And if you know what we mean when we say “red leaves” then let us know!  No prize this time, but we’re just curious if anyone remembers them.  They were sorta pretty!

Again, many thanks to all of you for visiting us!  Here’s to another great year!
