Robert Pattinson on His Surreal Life

Robert Pattinson sat down with The Guardian to talk about his upcoming work in Little Ashes and to try to clear the air with the media circus that seems to surround him 24/7. As usual Rob is very honest and off-beat, which will probably mean that the next batch of recycled and out-of-context stories to hit the tabloids will be about Rob’s nueroscience career.

“Sometimes he has fun making things up in interviews. Such as? “I do really intellectually highbrow stuff in my downtime. I read first-edition Shakespeare. I write poetry. I’m trying to get my masters in neuroscience. That’s the kind of guy I am.” He pauses, clearly amusing himself: “Man, I don’t even know what a masters is.” And he laughs hysterically as he creates another shape with his hair.”

Read the whole story on the Guardian. TY to Gemma for the heads up.

Twilight Stars at Risk for Stereotyping?

The Deadbolt has a great article up that analizes whether or not the Twilight Saga stars are at risk of being stereotyped given their high profile roles.

“In Vancouver, B.C. where the Twilight sequel New Moon is being shot, Twilight mania has reached a new high as both fans and press have converged to eagerly await the daily personal or professional moves of Pattinson, Stewart, and Lautner. However, with the rising success of the Twilight Saga, as well as the target audience of young female fans that continues to escalate, are the Twilight actors being swallowed up in the enormity of attention? When the cinematic sun eventually sets on the Stephenie Meyer based Twilight Saga, will the actors be forever hemmed in by their own Twilight success, or will they be able to shake their Twilight image to avoid a professional stereotype.”

Check it out on Deadbolt, which is rapidly becoming one of our personal favorite websites.

Kristen Stewart: Biking Riding, Not With Taylor

Vancity Allie visited another location the other night. From what bystanders could tell, Bella (Kristen Stewart) jumps on the back of a motorcycle of a biker guy.  Onlookers are guessing that it’s a tweak of the scene in the book (call it artistic license) where Bella approaches a dangerous crowd while out with Jessica.

“And let me just say this — Kristen Stewart is one HECK of a cool chica. She did ALL her stunts tonight, at least the ones that I saw. Props for braving it out in the cold Vancouver night on a motorcycle all evening. Major Kudos, Kristen!”

Be warned that if you click to read the full story on the Vancity Allie blog that Allie was close enough to hear dialoge and to see people standing in interesting locations. Don’t worry, Allie was standing behind established barricades, and none of her coverage was illegally obtained, but, if you are trying to stay spoiler free on non-book stuff, you probably want to miss this particular story.

Ultimate Bella New Moon Song

I have been continuously rummaging through my Ipod in order to find the Ultimate Bella New Moon song and I must admit I am feeling a little depressed!! Listening to songs that relate to Bella’s is story is very sad and chosing Bella songs is even harder.  Clearly My Immortal should be on the list but what about Rest in Pieces and TIme Stands Still??  And those are just some of the ones that are actually on the playlist!

So this week’s Music Feature is fully interactive.  I want to know what YOU think the perfect song for Bella is.  SO here is what you need to do leave a comment with you favortie song in it.  Feel free to post a  link to the lyrics or link to video.  Please don’t post complete lyrics it makes the comments hard to go through.  Next week we will have a poll using some of the songs suggested.  So bust out the kleenex and get posting!!

Be My Escape

Vancouver Set Visit

Alphie and Pel (Lori and Laura) had a fabulous time in Vancouver. A full detailed set report will be out in a few weeks. We have video, audio (the audio is to die for), photos, you name it. It was fabulous!

We can’t really say much more at the moment because we have to wait for an official release date OK from Summit, plus we have a lot of editing to do (did we mention the to die for audio). Summit isn’t being mean or anything, it’s what is known in the industry as an embargo. It’s very standard and this type of relase date in the future thing is imposed on full-time professional journalists on press junkets all the time.

So what we can share at the moment are two photos: one of Alphie and Pel and the other of the scenery where you can tell how Forks-like the terrain is.

Shout out to Mandy who acted as a local guide for us showing us everything Vancity had to offer. We also have to add what a privilege it was to finally meet so many fellow Twilight site ops and assistants. We always talk to each other online, but this was the first time we met everyone in person. Another shout out to Kallie and Kassie of Twilight Series Theories, Matt of Twilight Source, Kimmy of His Golden Eyes, Kara of Twilighters Anonymous, not to be confused with Kara of Twilight Moms.

Twilight Cast Round Up

Michael Sheen and Jamie Campbell Bower have been Tweeting about their arrival in Canada. No exact date was given, so clearly they have some healthy respect for the paparazzi.

Mike Welch is now officially done shooting. According to his website:

“Mike had a blast filming on the set of New Moon. He will complete his shoot just in time to return for his appearance at Creation Entertainment’s GRAND SLAM with a Salute to TWILIGHT ON SUNDAY May 3.”

Ashley Greene hosted a launch party at Kitson Melrose for LA designer Joseph Agi for his Spring/Summer 2009 Collection. Kellan Lutz and Marlow (her new puppy) were also there.

Friends Spoof Catherine Hardwicke

Proving that she has a great sense of humor, Catherine Hardwicke loaded a video of Nikki Reed and other friends making fun of her appearance on the “Welcome to Twilight” featurette.

Twicon Has Jackson Rathbone Up Close & Personal

This press release just in from Twicon:

Exclusive TwiCon Event With Jackson Rathbone!

For the first time at any conference anywhere, Jackson Rathbone will be offering an intimate and personal chat session at TwiCon 2009!  On Sunday, August 2nd from 10am-12pm, Jackson will join 500 fans for coffee, questions and answers, and possibly even an acoustic song or two.  It’s all about getting to know Jackson better, so he’ll be taking questions directly from fans, as well as giving 25 lucky attendees some face time by personalizing memorabilia (to be provided by the attendee) on stage in front of the audience!  Here’s how the event will work:

Fans will be seated banquet-style after grabbing a cup of coffee (provided).  During this time, screened questions will be gathered from the audience by TwiCon staff.  Each table with an approved question will receive a numbered card, which indicates the order of the questions to be asked.  The attendee designated by that table will stand and ask their approved question when it is their turn.  Jackson will be casually seated on stage and has graciously welcomed the opportunity to give the fans a closer peek into his life, so we ask in advance that the screaming be kept to a minimum during the Q&A as a respectful gesture to Jackson. We will allow attendees 2-3 minutes for flash photography upon his entrance, but photography without flash will be allowed at any time.  All attendees must be seated unless standing for a question or if they are chosen as a winner for face time with Jackson (there will be no information given on how to win until the event begins!).  Fans may ask questions of a somewhat personal nature, but remember that these questions will be screened and any inappropriate questions (boxers or briefs is not appropriate!) asked that were not approved will constitute immediate ejection from the event.  So be sure the question we screen is the question you ask!  After the Q&A, Jackson may or may not perform a song or two alone on stage.  When winners are selected to greet Jackson on stage, they will be asked to bring the item they would like signed on stage with them, give a brief introduction and Jackson will then sign and personalize the memorabilia for them.  The winner will then leave the stage and the next winner will go up.

Interested?

Tickets for Jackson’s exclusive coffee chat are $25 each.  There are only 500 tickets available.  Tickets will be available for purchase through your TwiCon registration account on Friday, May 15th at 11:59pm EST.  Each registrant is limited to one ticket.  If you are registered in a group, you may purchase one ticket for each group attendee.  As with all of our events, you must be fully registered and paid in full to be eligible for this event, and tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable.  A waitlist will be created after tickets have sold out; an announcement will be made on our site at that time.  Start thinking about what you’d like to know about the one and only Jackson Rathbone!

See the Twicon site for full details.
