Happy New Moon and Eclipse Day

Believe it or not today there is both a New Moon and an Eclipse!  Anyone celebrating uniquely?

We’ve heard from one Lexiconer who is going to be eating an apple at Twilight. No word yet if she has anything planned yet for the breaking of tomorrow’s dawn. 🙂

update We have two more chapter summaries this evening for you to enjoy and comment on.

First up is Chapter 23: Memories provided for us by Una.  To discuss Bella’s control and her initial interaction with Renesmee, hop over to the message boards and let us know what you think.

We also have Chapter 24: Surprise provided for us by Oleander.  Again, visit the message boards to talk about the cottage and Edward and Bella’s relationship now that she has been transformed.

The Children’s Literary Cafe 8/1: Fan Phenomena and Literature for Youth

So if you are an adult and going to be in the New York City area on 8/1/09, Pel is going to be a part of a panel discussion at the iconic New York City Public Library. (Yes, that library with the big stone lions in front.)  The other panelist of note is Melissa Anelli of Harry Potter The Leaky Cauldron and Harry, A History fame.

We will be discussing online fan life. Please note the event is intended for adults:

“The Children’s Literary CafĂ© at the new Children’s Center at 42nd Street is pleased to announce our event on Saturday, August 1st at 2:00 p.m. Come through the main doors to the information desk and ask for directions to the auditorium:

The fan phenomenon.  It’s about bringing your love of literature out into the open where you can celebrate it with a community of like-minded people.  Since the advent of the internet, fans have never been able to meet and gather with more ease.

The Children’s Literary CafĂ© is a monthly gathering of adults who are fans of children’s literature. Professionals, librarians, authors, illustrators, publishers, booksellers, teachers, and anyone else interested in the field are welcome to attend our meetings. The Literary CafĂ© provides free Advanced Readers galleys, a rotating series of talks with professionals in the field, and great conversation. This program is for adults only.”

Pel is excited to be joining in the discussion and to be meeting Melissa Anelli since she was and is a Harry Potter fan.

TMF: Robert Pattinson, Just Where Is the Line In The Sand?

The Movie Fanatic has an in depth piece surrounding the media circus that seems to cover Robert Pattinson wherever he goes. They interviewed the crew over at Pattinson online(shout out to admin Joyce who we met in Atlanta), a fan group that has been following Rob for over three years.

Pattinson Online, who has watched Rob go from relative obscurity to possibly the most known bachelor in Hollywood, has their own take on the madness and has started a campaign called FLANS to combat aggressive bloggers, paparazzi, and overly obsessive fans.

TMF asks:

“What’s on your mind? Should the media (particularly the gossip tabloids and magazines) respect an artist’s right to privacy? Or is it justified for them to speculate and spread rumours and gossip about an actor since he is already aware that all of these are ‘part of the culture’? Is it also justified for a celebrity blogger like Perez Hilton to reveal information about an actor for the sake of ‘entertainment’, security, privacy and health concerns, notwithstanding?”

As usual Jed and company at TMF look at all sides of the issue and go beyond the mere soundbite. Check out the full article.

Fandango: Exclusive With Jamie Campbell Bower

Fandango snagged Jamie Campbell Bower for an exclusive chat while on the set of New Moon.

Q. Were you prepared to be a part of the Twilight madness?
Campbell Bower:
Nothing has really prepared me for that. I got off the plane the other night when I arrived and there were five guys waiting there asking if I could take a picture with them. That was weird enough! I was like, “Why? Uh, OK. Yes, of course I can. You know I’m nobody, right?” It’s really interesting, and I only hope that, with the support that I’m getting from people at the moment, I will live up to it in the film. My Twitter fan base between last month and this month has gone up 6,000 people. That is craziness! That is really, really bizarre.”

Rotten Tomatoes Set Visit Day 2

Jen Amato from Rotten Tomatoes field her second report from her day on the New Moon Set.  Jen is also going to be running a regular series on Rotten Tomatoes covering the Twilight Saga Filming. We are looking forward to her coverage.

“Stewart was mesmerizing in take after take. The repetition of it was fascinating to listen to; the 19-year-old actress seemed to open a vein with every take, then fall silent. Or she’d ask Weitz for direction, or cut herself short with an expletive or burst of laughter. The tension of the scene always brightened once Weitz called “Cut!” — a Volturi actor would give Pattinson a hand up, or Stewart might wander off, snapping out of the moment. (After one take, Pattinson turned to Greene and playfully asked, “Does it look like I’m in pain?”)

Watching the monitors revealed even deeper layers in Stewart’s performance. Stewart, who by now has nearly 20 film credits under her belt, is a uniquely emotional performer; anguish is practically written on her face. Maverick or no during rehearsals, Stewart packs an almost unrivaled intensity into her acting. Yet in interviews, she and her Twilight cast mates are hounded by gossipy questions; why not ask her about her actual craft? We would have, given the chance.”

Peter Facinelli In The UK and Ireland

Peter Facinelli was  in the  UK and Ireland this weekend after first attending the Twi-Tour Minneapolis Event. Peter had a bit of a goof when he realized that he wasn’t traveling with his passport so he ended up in the UK a day late. Fortunately the event honored the tickets of those that were supposed to see Peter on the following day.

Here’s the account of one lucky fan Saoirse (pronounced sur – sha and means freedom in Irish) “We arrived at the forbidden planet store at 3:50pm. The sign said Peter would start at 4:45pm. When we got there the queue was relatively short but by the time we entered the stop it was all around the shop, out the door and around the corner. Peter was 35 minutes late but nobody really minded. He showed up and there were many screams. We finally got into the shop and up to where he was signing. He was very friendly and nice and kindly signed books, photos and whatever else, as well as getting a picture with each person. We got our Twilight books signed and he had difficulty with my name, it being Irish, but we got there in the and I also got a photo. It was very cool ;)”

Peter’s own YouTube Channel posted video from the event.

Charlie Bewley: Student Film Robotron

Another student film starring Charlie Bewley has surfaced on YouTube.  It’s called Robotron. It’s not quite as hilarious as the previous one that hit the net called Stuffed, but it’s worth it to see Charlie play an android that gives dating advice.

Thanks to Twilight Treasury for passing this along.

How Early Should I Get To Comic Con?

A lot of people have been emailing and Tweeting us asking about Comic Con and what time they should get there to be able to get a seat.  Honestly, we are hesitant to state a time because if we are wrong and people don’t get in, we don’t want to be hacked to death by an angry mob.

So here’s what we did. We asked people who were there last year to help us out by telling us what time they got there and what kind of seats they then got. So, use this as information when making your own decisions:

@pattinsononline 7:30pm the day before and we got front row. I don’t think we’ll ever do that AGAIN.

@KelseyDD about 2 hours early. I had to sit way in the back too. Thought I wouldn’t make it in.

@LadyBelle616 We got to comic con about 8am and sat about halfway back

chloeeesays Actually, we probably got there about 2-2.5 hours early, & I didn’t think we were gonna make it. Sat in the back too.
