Florence Welch: Team Edward or Team Jacob?

Marc Malken of E! talked to Florence Welch of the VMA nominated band Florence + the Machine about her Twilight feelings. Florence + the Machine appear on the Eclipse Soundtrack with Heavy in Your Arms.:

Are you Twilight fan?
When I was on tour, I got into the books. Then me and my little sister got into them together. Two Christmases ago, we had the last book but we only had one between us…In the middle of the night we would be reading it to each other. And then we’d fall asleep and she’d be like, “Don’t read ahead of me!”

Team Edward or Team Jacob?
I felt really bad for Jacob in the film. I really wanted him to kiss her. But I do think Edward is pretty hot.

Do you mean Edward or Robert Pattinson?
I haven’t met Robert Pattinson in person—but I think I quite like the whole fantasy of Edward.”

Florence + the Machine won Best Art Director for their video  “Dog Days Are Over”(seen below). They lost in their other nominated categories: Video of the Year, Best Rock Video, and Best Cinematography.

TwiFans: Fanjunket News: The Twilight Guide Update

Twifans has an update on the Twilight Guide. They asked Stephenie Meyer about its status during their fanjunket interview:

Alison: And the real question was……is there any word on the official Twilight guide?

TST: Now that “Bree” (the book “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner”) is out, and it’s out of there…

SM: Oh, I know…

Alison: Please tell us, it’s not like Midnight Sun, like you’re not doing it?

SM: Oh no, no, it’s continuing. It just…it keeps evolving. So then we have to catch up… I don’t know. I hope that when it comes out, it’s amazing. Because it seems like a lot of effort has been put into it at this point. And it is kind of evolving, and “let’s do this, no let’s do this”. It’s going to have a lot of great information, and it’s really cool. I think my favorites are the genealogy charts for the Quileutes. They are beautiful….they’re lovely.

TST: We want to know when it’s going to be done. That’s what everyone wants to know. They’re like “I’ve pre-ordered it!”

Bella’s Birthday/Stephenie Meyer Celebration Kicks Off in Forks

All sorts of things are going on in Forks this weekend. The post office has even gotten into the act and created a special stamp! According to the Forks Forum (the local newspaper):

The Forks Post Office and the LaPush Office are issuing two new Twilight-themed stamped envelopes just in time for this weekend’s Bella’s Birthday celebration at Tillicum Park.

The LaPush Post Office is selling special pictoral postmark of Team Jacob and Forks Post Office is offering a special pictoral Team Edward postmark. Each envelope also has a special Forks cancellation and a birthday cake stamp. Both envelopes sell for $4 each.

Last year the Twilight special issue sold several thousand copies. The special stamped envelopes were only available for a short time and are now collector’s items.

A Forks Post Office van will also again be set up at Tillicum Park to sell the Twilight envelopes, plus offer mailing services for Twilight fans who purchase souvenir gift items from Twilight vendors.

For more information on the envelopes send an email to the Forks Post Office.”

Melissa Rosenberg Says Bill Condon “Gets It”

melissa-rosenbergheadshotMelissa Rosenberg just updated her Facebook with the following message:

“Hi Y’all! Sorry I haven’t checked in for a while. Been immersed in the world of Breaking Dawn. I’ve been working very closely with our director Bill Condon, whose input has been SO great. He understands story, structure and character as only a fellow writer can, but he also has fantastic visual ideas. And he’s not shying away from anything! Sex, birth, feathers, blood… it’s all in there. More later! xoxo Mel”

Twilight Series Theories: Fanjunket Friday: Volvos, Proposals, Teens, and Religion

Twilight Series Theories has another transcript and audio file up with their discussion with Stephenie Meyer. They entitled this week’s episode Volvos, Proposals, Teens, and Religion, but our favorite section is where Stephenie talks about stories left currently untold.

“LT:  If you were forced to write a sequel or some novella, which—what character or characters would you do?

SM: If I were to go ahead with sequels, and I think that I’ve already stated this in some book thing, I would tell it from two narrators again, although I think I’d switch back and forth and it would be Nessie and Leah.  And you know it’s funny because a lot of people are like—I’ve read a lot of theories about why I felt compelled to have Bella have a baby and there’s only one reason and it’s not because—there isn’t a lot of really negative stuff—it’s not because you know Bella needed to have a baby or anything, it’s because I knew—it was really clear because I’d already done “Forever Dawn”—once Bella becomes a vampire she loses her relatability.  It’s subtle, but you no longer could do anything she could do and it really, as a narrator, she—I wanted to continue, I wanted to show where she went with it—but as a narrator she loses a lot of her appeal because she’s a vampire now and it’s really interesting to see how she does things but emotionally I felt like the tie was not as strong.  I wanted my narrator for the next story.  When I was writing this I was never gonna stop and I may go back to it, but like I said there’s the burnout factor that you don’t take into account and working on the movies, it’s a lot of vampires.  But Nessie was created because she was the logical voice, you have someone who’s half-human, half-vampire who doesn’t fit in anywhere and is an outsider in some ways, but then loved and cherished by her family.  But all the intricacies—she had so many problems, so many challenges so she was so attractive to me as a narrator…”

Eclipse Hits Theaters in Wider Distribution Today: But Where Will it Land in 2010?

eclipsebill

Today Eclipse hits theatres in a wider distribution. It’s sort of a re-release since it’s hitting a broader area. Fandango is selling tickets to the re-release of Eclipse in celebration of Bella’s birthday! The link will help you find a theater near you, showtimes, and of course will let you order tickets!

As of Wednesday night, domestic sales of Eclipse are $298,859,646. That’s roughly 2 million more than the final domestic in theater sales of New Moon. As of right  now Eclipse is the number four film of the year behind Toy Story 3, Alice In Wonderland, and Iron Man 2.  It’s not very likely that Eclipse would overtake either of the top two this weekend. Toy Story 3 has earned over a whopping $400,000,000 and Alice in Wonderland has $334,191,110. On the other hand, Eclipse stands a decent chance at overtaking Iron Man 2 either by the end of this weekend or when it ends its in theater run some time in late November.

This re-release should solidify Eclipse as a top five film of the year putting it well ahead of Inception, currently in the number 5 position. The major challenge in the top five will come when the the first segment of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows releases by the end of the year. Eclipse shouldn’t get knocked out of the top five, but it will be interesting to see what the final rankings will be.

We’re betting on the following:  Toy Story, Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland, Eclipse, Iron Man 2 being the final order. What do you think?
