Lykke Li: Grateful For the Twilight Connection

Lykke Li is promoting her new album called Wounded Rhymes. She mentioned her New Moon soundtrack experience.
“I’m a very melancholic kind of person,” she says. “I don’t know why, I think certain people are born a certain way. There’s more discomfort being an old soul or a person who questions a lot of things. I’m young, but I’m old. It’s a part of who I am and the reason why I’m here, too.”
Li says she didn’t necessarily understand the Twilight phenomenon, but she was grateful for the opportunity to influence young listeners watching the films.
“[Twilight has] die-hard fans — all these young people still believing in love and being romantic. I really identify with that. I remember watching films in my teenage years, and you’d be in love with Leonardo DiCaprio and then a song would come on. You’d love that song forever; it changed your life.”
Asked what Wounded Rhymes will mean to her when she listens back to it, the self-described old soul thinks it will serve as a reminder of her growing pains.
“I’m going to be like Benjamin Button; I’m just going to grow younger. I will probably be happy, fat, with kids and looking back and thinking, I was such a angry young woman. It’s the dark years before I kind of understood that life is hard, but it’s always beautiful.”

“For you Twihards, actress Tinsel Korey is Emily Young, the werewolf leader’s scarred fiancé or “wolf girl” as Bella calls her in The Twilight Saga. But, what you probably don’t know is that she’s a super talented singer/songwriter too. That’s right. She acts. She sings. She’s gorgeous. And she can probably make you laugh in less than two seconds. Someone that chill must be inherently pretentious and self-involved. Nope. Tinsel’s about as down to earth and charming as they come. And I got to chat with her. Be jealous.

Twilight Fan’s Visit to the Vancouver Sets

Twilight fan and Lexicon reader Lisa traveled to Vancouver to check out the filming locations. She was there the day the cast was filming in a theater in downtown Vancouver. Speculation was that it was a flashback scene of Edward’s being shot in the theater. Judging by the costumes the extras are wearing, the time appears to be the late 1920’s-1930’s. My very good friends and I traveled to Vancouver to see anything we could Twilight. Of course our main goal was to try and see Robert Pattinson…but we would settle for anything Twilight. On Sunday we went on a tour with Amy from Vancouver Set Tours (highly recommend!) and it was great. We saw Bella’s house, Jacob’s house (where some overzealous fans upset the owner and called the cops!), The Cottage and the breakup location. It was so cool to be standing right in the spot where “they” stood.
We knew they were filming at the Orpheum Theater on Monday, March 14 and thought this was our chance. On Sunday evening we saw posts and tweets and blogs about “signs going up” at the theater. It probably around 10 pm and we were only a few blocks away, so we grabbed our coats and our cameras and headed out. At first we thought it was a bust as the Orpheum Theater has an older entrance and a newer entrance around the block. At the older entrance we found nothing but luckily we kept walking and then we saw all the white trailers and trucks and security and knew we found the right place. We walked along the street and came across a cone that said “TSBD”. I have never been so happy to see those initials. We took pictures of the cone and did a happy dance right there in the street.
Early Monday morning we were highly motivated so we got up, got ready and left the hotel at 5:00 a.m. Everything we saw posted said the call time was 5:30 a.m. so we couldn’t be late. We found a spot right in front along with about 4 other Twilight fans and settled in with our umbrellas, and coats, and gloves, and cameras and staked out our spots. It was freezing but we were determined. The extras started to arrive, the catering was brought in, make-up people arrived…it was all very exciting to see a movie in production and to be that close. About an hour later we were all told we could not stand in front of the theater and needed to move. So we walked around to scope out the best location. About an hour later a security guard crossed the street to talk to the fans, ask us questions…distract us maybe. One of my friends realized the distraction and we walked passed him around to the alleyway to see what they might be hiding. We saw a white SUV at the back door entrance in the alley right up to an open door. This was it. This was where they would be dropping him off. We decided this was a dry run to check out the route and planted our feet and were not leaving until we saw a certain someone arrive.
A little about me – I’m just a mom, a huge Twilight fan, who happens to have a camera with a pretty long zoom lens because I like to take pictures of my son at his baseball games. Apparently the security around the building thought I was some paparazzi or something because they kept pointing at me, looking at me, and talking about me. Never mind that I have a flowery green and white camera strap and was wearing bright pink gloves. That screams paparazzi, right?
It was all so exciting. The action, the people, the planning, the execution. Even though there are a handful of people on the screen the amount involved is incredible. Later a few extras would come out for smoke breaks in costume. They were dressed in 20’s period costume and when approached told everyone “cannot say anything, confidentially agreement”. Had to try, right? I cannot tell you how many white vans drove up delivering things – maybe just one box (we would shout “the green box has arrived!”), one person, one person with lots of coffees, food, etc. And we saw racks of costumes being brought inside.
The security around the theater (especially by us) had huge umbrellas and we knew when “they” arrived the umbrellas would come out blocking any view. One nice and friendly security guard actually told us that we won’t see anything because “we are very good at our jobs”. But again, we had to try.
We are determined women because when the septic waste truck came to where we were standing to…do its job…we did not leave. I think we stood there for about 45 minutes with the loud engine, the smells, oh the smells, but we were not giving up our post. I could have kissed them when they finally left I was so happy.
It was around 9:30 a.m. and my 5 friends decided it was time to eat. They look at me and informed me of their plan and I just looked at them and said “…..I cannot leave….”. So they went across the street where it was warm and dry and I stayed at my post. I was hungry and cold but I just couldn’t dare miss a thing.
So it’s about 10:15 a.m. and I’ve been watching the area and the security for about 5 hours at this point so when something changed – I knew it. A delivery truck drove down the alley and then a van blocked the alley entrance, then all the security guards moved to new locations with their umbrellas open. I looked back down the alley and there was the white SUV, doors open, umbrellas blocking everything. So I took what pictures that I could and really hoped that I caught something. There was a van moving to block me (it took about 4 times of back and forth before I caught on the van was moving because of me) as I moved even 5 feet for a better view. Then the doors shut and it was over. Everyone went back to their posts like nothing had happened. So while I didn’t see anyone really, I was able to get the pictures that some fans are talking about on videos. And not matter how small it is – I’m taking it!
So the security guards are really good at their jobs, some are friendly (some are not), and we saw some cool movie stuff happening. Even though we didn’t see Rob during our trip – I feel it was a fantastic Twilight trip.

Scene Weekly, the magazine of the growing film industry in Louisiana, had the chance to interview Angela Sarayfan who plays Tia in Breaking Dawn.
“Q: How have you enjoyed working on Breaking Dawn?
A: To be quite honest, I have no full grasp of the enormity of this film. I know it in theory but I haven’t experienced it.
Q: Many of Twilight’s cast members are now very closely identified with their characters and it may be difficult to be perceived differently in the future. Are you at all concerned about that?
A: I don’t ever go into work thinking that I’ll be defined by a certain character for the rest of my life. I don’t know if Kristen and Rob will be forever recognized for that. I’m sure they may be for a lot of kids and a lot of people. I don’t know honestly what the future holds because I really live in the moment and kind of deal with everything on a daily basis. And so, in terms of the outside world and how they see things, I guess I just have
no idea about that.
Q: One thing it will hopefully do is open up opportunities for you. Is there an actor who’s career you respect or aspire to?
A: Whenever I read a script or I read a part, I like to be inspired by the person on the page and the character. I like to see if I’m inspired by them and what I can give them. It usually happens instantaneously so I don’t really know if I’m gonna follow this person’s career or that person’s career. It reveals itself with each experience. It’s kind of unpredictable. There are plenty of incredible actors that I love. Anna Magnani is a favorite of mine. She’s an Italian actress. I completely love Meryl Streep as well. And there are so many. I look at Dustin Hoffman and Robert De Niro and I look at Al Pacino and the list goes on and on…Marlon Brando or even Klaus Kinski.”

The Province: Charlie Bewley Marathon Tribute

The Canadian site The Province is covering Charlie Bewley’s current Run For Your Life Project. Charlie wrapped his work on Breaking Dawn, and he is out there training every day.
“Twilight actor Charlie Bewley has traded in his fangs for running shoes.
The English actor, who plays the Volturi vampire Demetri in the Twilight Saga movies, is in town, busy training for the May 1 BMO Vancouver Marathon.
Bewley is running and raising money as a tribute to his late friend and colleague, stuntwoman Jocelyn Clarke, who passed away from lung cancer on Feb. 14 at the age of 36.
“She was a really brilliant girl,” said Bewley, who hopes his Run For Your Life campaign will be a lifelong endeavour.
“She is ingrained in my heart. I wanted to celebrate the life of this amazing person.”
While running a full marathon is certainly impressive, Bewley is picking up the pace, if you will, and actually adding another 21 kilometres to the 43-km marathon length, bringing his day’s run total to 64 km.
“For me, it’s an underlying message for anyone who feels they are stronger than what they are putting out right now,” said Bewley…”

“Twilight-fans, take heart: Robert Pattinson is every bit as good-looking and thick-maned as he appears onscreen. But don’t confuse him with his brooding characters — the 24-year-old actor is surprisingly open, chatty, and quick to laugh. Pattinson talked with EW last week about his upcoming film Water for Elephants (in theaters April 22), in which he plays a traveling-circus veterinarian who falls for the show’s star attraction, played by Reese Witherspoon. He also discussed what his future might look like once he’s finished with Twilight. “You can never really predict what an audience wants or how to maintain a career,” he says, “other than doing what you think is cool.” But, Pattinson laughs, “Generally, what I think is cool is what everyone else hates.””
USA Today also has a quote from the same issue:
“Pattinson confirms he and Stewart have filmed the birth scene, and with a laugh, says the shooting was “kind of hilarious.”
He explains: “She has to have this pregnant suit on all the time, that was probably more annoying for her,” he said. That’s not the only change you’ll see in Bella.
“I can’t give too much away but there’s some bits, especially towards the end of the movie, she’s just like the polar opposite of any of the other (films),” he says. “I mean, she’s a different person, which is cool. She looks completely different. She looks probably the most convincing vampire out of all of us.”
Meaning what, exactly? “A lot of us look like we’re just from Mars,” said Pattinson. “She’s kind of the smallest one, but she suits being a vampire.”
Next up: Breaking Dawn‘s wedding shoot, scheduled for April. “That’s a hard scene too,” he told us. Not to mention the flood of paparazzi who will try to get a shot of Bella and Edward headed down the aisle. “It’s been OK in Vancouver in terms of people showing up and trying to get stuff,” says Rob. “I have a feeling the wedding is going to be the one with (paparazzi) parasailing in.” Talk about a money shot.”
