Jackson Rathbone in One Magazine

Jackson Rathbone is in the French language publication, One. The Twilight Ladies site provided a translation:

One magazine: In the United States Eclipse and The Last Airbender are out at the same time. What movie do you want to see at the number one spot in the box office?
JR: To be honest, I consider myself lucky just to be in two movies at the same time! Before that, I enjoyed a quantity of projects that nobody went to see in theaters. Things are finally going a good way for me. It was time!

ON: How did you land the role of Sokka?
JR: When I met M. Night Shyamalan, the film director, three years ago, we immediately got on. Initially, I auditioned for the role of Prince Zuko and he told me he was thinking of another role for me. Then I never heard of the film for a year. Then he got back to me and asked me to play Sokka and I was hired. I’m a fan of the animated series, I’ve always loved fantasy stories with such rich mythology. And with this role, I finally have a chance to show that I can do more than just to play a vampire. It also gives me the opportunity to be much less serious than Jasper, as Sokka has many comic scenes.

ON: Are you tired of the role of Jasper?
JR: No, but I try to play very different characters from film to film. I don’t do the same thing twice. I gravitate naturally towards to projects in which the public don’t expect to see me.”

It’s all fun and games. Particularly hilarious is Anna Kendrick trying to explain how the Internet works.

Official Twilight Convention in Toronto a Hit

The Toronto Star reported on this past weekend’s Official Twilight Convention run by Creation Entertainment.

“Sunday was bright and beautiful, but inside the twists and turns of the Westin Convention Centre, 500 girls and women hardly cared. When pursuing love with a vampire, sunlight is an easy sacrifice.

This weekend was the Toronto stop of the touring Twilight Convention, a gathering for fans of Stephenie Meyer’s rabidly popular tale.

Almost 100 million copies of the four-novel series have been sold, and three movies have been made about the teenager Bella Swan and her romances with the vampire Edward Cullen and werewolf Jacob Black. A fourth film is set to be released in 2011.

“I cannot wait for Breaking Dawn,” said Santyna Brar, 14, who attended the entire three-day convention with her cousin, Sonali Kumar, 15.

The two Mississauga teens spent $299 each to get front-row seats for Q&As with Twilight actors[Lexicon note: you can get general admission day passes for as little as $25], plus photos, autographs and tickets to a costumed Vampire Ball on Saturday night.

None of the three principal actors — Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner — were here, though the cast of The Hillywood Show’s Twilight satire did feature a mock Jacob who remained shirtless all day. Brar and Kumar had a great time.

“I never knew stars could be so normal,” said Kumar. At the ball, one of the younger actors, Boo Boo Stewart, sat down at the cousins’ table to chat.”

The convention is next coming to New Jersey, Minneapolis, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Sacramento and other locations.

We weren’t able to live Tweet the convention this weekend because we would have gone broke with the charges (*shakes fist at AT&T*), however we will have a full write up for you this afternoon. Coming tomorrow, we have a video of an EPIC and we do mean EPIC prank thought up by Booboo Stewart and his dad that was executed with a little help from Bronson Pelletier and Kiowa Gordon. We filmed the prank from behind the scenes planning stages to the actual prank. You’re not going to want to miss this.

Twilight Fans Flock to Tennessee

Much like what happened in Pittsburgh a couple of weeks ago, Twilight fans came to Tennessee hoping to catch a glimpse of Robert Pattinson as his filming on Water for Elephants moved from the Los Angeles area to Tennessee:

“Cheryl Hagan spent 10 hours in the car Thursday, driving up from Orlando with her 12-year-old daughter just for the chance to get close to a vampire.

Her trip to West Cove Road in Walker County, Ga., where “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson is filming his new movie, “Water for Elephants,” is her first visit to a movie set. But she has attended 11 “Twilight” conventions, including one in Boston two weeks ago.

“We drove to Boston, so 10 hours is nothing,” she said Friday morning. “I know that I’m obsessed, and I’m OK with that.”

AshleyYounghollywoodAccording to InStyle:

Super Saturday is best described as a couture garage sale, but with celebrity guests and a tony Hamptons setting. InStyle has hosted the event with Donna Karan and Kelly Ripa for several years; this time, Twilight star Ashley Greene is set to join in. The 13th annual sale will stocked with merchandise from over 200 designers, including Diane von Furstenberg, Catherine Malandrino, Elizabeth & James and Giorgio Armani, and it’s all for a good cause: Proceeds benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. If you can’t make it to the Hamptons this weekend, QVC will be broadcasting the event from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. EST, offering viewers the chance to purchase a variety of items from the sale including apparel, accessories and beauty. Sounds super.”

Fanjunket Friday: 1917 Meet Modern Day

The fansites that were on the Stephenie Meyer fansite junket are back with more of their talk with Stephenie.  The audio is embedded below as well as a partial transcript. For a full transcript, check out TwiFans:
Twifans.com: Stephenie Meyer discusses why Edward Cullen wants to make Bella wait until marriage by twifans
“Q: I’m curious about Eclipse because at the point where…I love Eclipse because Edward becomes a lot more flirtatious, and you get to kinda see that.

SM: They have some moments, which are hard to do with fiction because everybody wants constant pacing. I tend to slow down. A lot of what my editors did was cut. Because I just wanna sit and “Let’s have a nice moment. Let’s have a happy time.”

Q: One of the most “nice moments” is when they’re in Edward’s room in bed, and he proposes, okay? There are lots of people that have asked questions, I’ve probably had 10 or 20 just within that one scene. But the one I want the answer to the most is: Edward at one point, he kind-of caves. Just a smidge. When he says “no, no, stop, we’re not doing this until we are married” — is it more out of a moral issue, or is it more out of “I want to make sure you keep up your end of the deal”?

SM: They’re equal parts. There are a couple of things. One is, Edward was born in 1901. And in his mind — he understands the world more clearly than we do. He hears everybody’s thoughts. But to him, this is kind of a…for him it’s a very disrespectful… And he can’t get away from the taboos of his youth. It would be wrong to take advantage of her, in his mind. And obviously, she has a completely different viewpoint. Her viewpoint of it is very modern. She knows that she is with him forever, and she doesn’t see his point. But he just comes from a different place. And I really like, every place I could put in, that would really date him. Because I like when he is…..109.
