Twilight Saga Going To The Dogs

We get all sorts of people who email in various stories about their personal reaction to Twilight, trips to Forks, encounters with actors, etc.  This one, was original, we’ve never seen photos quite like this before.

Lexiconer Rachel, whose family including her husband are fans, writes, “Thought you might enjoy these pics of our English bulldog Tucker  getting his Twilight fix.He is Team Jacob all the way!!! Eclipse is our favorite.”

Rachel’s family recently vacationed in the Vancouver area and visited film locations.

Nikki Reed Retro Photoshoot

Just Jared covered a photo shoot surrounding the making of the film 42nd Street. A well camouflaged Nikki Reed appears in these PR photos shot for Vanity Fair.

We are a little confused though because Nikki doesn’t seem to (at least according to the IMDB) be connected to the project. We figured it out, not a film at all, just an ongoing series of photo recreation of classic films.

Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, and Nikki Reed in LA

Ashley Greene was snapped by Just Jared during a photo shoot in West Hollywood.

Kellan Lutz and Nikki Reed were at Nobu in West Hollywood for the Express sponsored Txt L8tr event.

Txt L8tris an organization whose mission is to stop people from texting and driving. In fact they have a contest going to help spark more awareness on this serious and statistically growing issue.

Around the Net: The Rachelle Story

A variety of media have picked up the story.  Here are links to those doing an analysis rather than just repeating press releases from either camp. We will edit this entry anticipating that there will be more during the day.

RadarOnline: Fan reaction and fansite reaction. You can see our previously released quote appearing here. You can also see quotes from TwiCrack, Cullen Boys Anonymous, Bella and Edward, and A Twilight Kiss.

HitFix:  calling it She Said/Studio Said “Sadly, the biggest losers here are the fans who are getting caught in a tug of war between a rising star whose was extremely fan-friendly and a studio who has done everything possible to satisfy their constant hunger for new material.  Is it going to take franchise author Stephenie Meyer to broker peace between everyone involved?  One thing is clear, if you end up seeing Lefevre on Larry King Live or hearing her on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show over the next few days?  Then it’s really gotten ugly.”

ReelzChannel: A brief  look a fan reaction that runs run the serious to the sublime.  It  ends on some ironic quotes given that these quotes were from fans.

The Movie Fanatic: As usual providing analysis from all angles in more than a soundbite.  After hitting all points TMF asks its readers, “Finally, the main issue for a moviegoer like you and me is that all film outfits make decisions, whether popular or otherwise, for the sake of coming up with a great movie. For all we know, there maybe other casting changes in the Twilight horizon soon enough! What’s on your mind? What was your first reaction when you learned that Rachelle Lefevre was replaced by another actress to play Victoria? Are you a Bryce Dallas-Howard fan? Have you seen her previous movies? What is your reaction regarding Ms. Lefevre issuing a press release regarding her reaction to the casting change? Let us know what you think!”

Behind the Scenes at Comic Con

MTV’s Hollywood Crush has a great off-stage look at the cast.

TwiCon Starts Today

TwiCon, the first fan run convention featuring both the actors and fan panels, starts today in Dallas, Texas and runs through Sunday. Look for upcoming reports from various media outlets from ReelzChannel to MTV on the event.

The convention was featured in The Dallas Morning News:

TwiCon 2009 has sold out, even at $255 a ticket. That buys attendees four days of access to serious-minded academic panel discussions (one is called “Your mood swings are kinda giving me whiplash: Twilight Fans and the Negotiation of Gender and Feminism”), Bella-themed self-defense classes, a TwilightMOMs meeting room, a fan fiction contest and (natch) a Red Cross blood drive.”

According to Becky Scoggins, one of the four main organizers of the event:

Our biggest goal for this year is to make sure that Stephenie knows we appreciate her. We’re not trying to make money off of her, we just want her to know that 3,000 fans got together to talk about her books. To even think that people are getting together to talk about books feels really good.”

100 Monkeys Concert Dates and More

Remember the other day when we first learned via Contact Music that Jackson Rathbone and the band were going to grant the wish of a Make-A-Wish Foundation child?  Now we have more information from the band on that and their upcoming dates.

According to their press release:

Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper Hale in the blockbuster movie, Twilight, is coming to Dallas.  He’ll be in town for TwiCon, the largest Twilight Convention in the country.  While he’s there, Rathbone is also taking time to meet with a very dedicated fan.

Fourteen year-old Dorothy has loved Twilight since the day she read the book.  Then, after seeing the movie, she was really hooked.  Like many teenagers, she dreams of meeting Robert Pattinson, falling in love and living happily ever after.  She didn’t get quite that lucky but when Jackson Rathbone and his band, 100 Monkeys, heard her story they invited her to join them this weekend at their concert in Dallas, Texas.

Due to terminal cancer, Dorothy hasn’t been able to do much lately but one of her childhood dreams came true last week.  She and her family were given a vacation of a lifetime at Disney World in Orlando.  They get back this Friday just in time for the concert.  She and her family are getting tickets to the show and backstage passes to meet the band this Saturday at The Palladium.  “We’re all very lucky people and helping others makes us who we are,” said Rathbone.

100 Monkeys recently completed a two-month, East Coast tour, with every show sold out.  The band has been featured on MTV, VH1, Entertainment Tonight and in People Magazine.  The thing that makes the band so unique is that each member can play every instrument.  In between songs, one of them yells ‘switcharoo’ and they all switch instruments.  “It’s amazing to see musicians that can play six or seven different instruments without missing a beat.  We’ve booked them at venues all over the country and they never fail to amaze me,” said Tim Crockett of New Castle Entertainment.

The all ages concert at The Palladium promises to be their biggest event ever.  The band is also releasing a new, live CD this weekend and everyone who attends the show gets a free copy of the CD.  Tickets are only $19.99 and are available at TicketMaster.com.

After the concert on Saturday, 100 Monkeys are hosting a party at Sambuca to benefit the Spencer Bell Legacy Project.  Spencer was a dear high school friend of the band who died of adrenal cancer in December of 2006.  For more information about the Spencer Bell Legacy Project, visit www.SpencerBellMemorial.com.

Bella’s Truck Making the Rounds

Remember this entry?  Well, it looks like we now know who the proud owner is. According to the Dallas Morning News:

“Sterling Biegert’s first car is kind of a clunker. It has no air conditioning and no radio, and there’s a large dent in the rear bumper.

But to the Flower Mound teen, a huge fan of the widely popular Twilight vampire books and movie series, the Chevrolet pickup is a Hollywood star. Driven by one of the main characters, Bella Swan, the truck appears prominently in several scenes of the Twilight movie.”

Tonner Dolls Features The Nomadic Vampires

If this isn’t ironic in light of recent news, we don’t know what is. Dread Central got a peak:

“Tonner Doll Company was the first collectibles outfit to recognize the potential of the Twilight franchise and (along with some prodding from Dread toy junkies) quickly jumped at the chance to bring this world of supernatural beings into their family of licenses. To date only Edward and Bella have been realized in doll form, but as the Dread crew closed up shop at San Diego Comic-Con, our excellent Tonner friends flagged us down for a sneak preview of what’s to come.”
