Ashley Greene is Nylon Magazine’s August Cover Model

Ashley Greene is rocking out the cover of this August’s issue of Nylon.

On keeping her waitressing gig after booking Twilight: I was working at the Belmont Cafe in L.A., got the call, and two weeks later was rehearsing. Right when I was cast, my IMDb STARmeter [a chart that tracks actors based on how many searches are done on them] went through the roof — all of ours did, and we hadn’t even done anything yet!. I asked my boss if I could have my job back after the shoot. He was like, “I don’t think you’ll need it but OK.”

On drawing from life experience for characters:
Growing up, I didn’t have a hard life. Luckily, people are not the greatest in L.A., so once I got here and my heart was broken and people stabbed me in the back, I could use that to feel vulnerable.

On being typecast post-Twilight: It’s not like, ‘Oh, you’re the quirky best friend-slash-sister’. There’s no stereotype with Alice. And she doesn’t really look anything like me, with the pixie cut and the white makeup. So to be put in a box, I’d kind of have to do it myself. And I’m not going to do that.

Nylon Magazine Giving Away Kristen Stewart Autograph

Nylon Magazine just informed us that:

“Today, we’re giving away a DVD of Welcome to the Rileys, an independent drama where Stewart plays a teen prostitute living in post-Katrina New Orleans.

The film drew rave reviews at Sundance, and prompted Roger Ebert to comment, “I’m watching the beginnings of an important new actress,” in his review.”

Nylon Magazine: Jackson Rathbone: From Twilight, to Airbender, to Music

jacksonnylonNylon Magazine has an interview with Jackson Rathbone where Jackson’s sarcastic and tongue-in-cheek humor really stands out.

Does anyone call you by your real first name, Monroe? I still go by Monroe when I am in trouble with the law.

Which is… often? Very rarely; very rarely. I don’t get so much as a speeding ticket these days but I am a habitual parking violator.

I know M. Night Shyamalan is famous for his secrecy.  But what can you tell us about The Last Airbender?
Well I can say it is going to be an amazing action film; it’s got the most incredible CGI. We got ILM working on it, which is Industrial Lights and Magic, and it truly is magic, honestly, at the end of the day. We are shooting on the green screen, we have a character called Appa?  Which is a big bison kind of flying bear creature?  And that’s me, I’m a big flying bear creature.”

Ashley Greene: Nylon Magazine Article and Photo Spread

Ashely Greene along with Vanessa Hudgens and Portia Doubleday are on the cover of Nylon for May. There is a fabulous photo spread by Marvin Scott Jarrett and an article that covers Ashley’s rising career, the paparazzi, and the Twilight Saga:

Ashley Greene, on Twilight Paparazzi
“I know their cars. Bit there’s always people sitting outside my house. I put my own security system in my apartment because you have to worry about people getting a little too obsessed.”

About Twilight
“It’s a bit insane for me, because Twilight is this huge teen phenomenon and the fans are passionate and want to know everything about us. So, you know, we get followed around.”

Before getting booked at Twilight
“There were a lot of little things along the way that happened just as my parents would say ‘Ok, its time to come home and go to college…So I built a resume that I could, you know, embellish a little.”

On young Hollywood
“We’re not all crazy! … I feel like that whole generation, that’s dying down now, thinks they’re higher than God and can do whatever they want”

On Breaking Dawn
“If they make one, let’s be honest, I’m gonna do it.”

Nylon Magazine:Kristen Stewart’s Make-Up Artist

Nylon matthesw

The woman behind Kristen Stewart’s look in not only the Runaways, but also in New Moon and Eclipse chatted with Nylon about her technique.

“Bella Swan’s lips. Joan Jett’s eyes. Kristen Stewart’s cheeks.

You can thank Robin Mathews for all three. The expert makeup artist has painted the faces of everyone from Dakota Fanning to Anna Faris, but, after working on the second and third installments of the Twilight franchise, her latest project just might be her most wild yet. As the makeup department head of The Runaways, she figured out a way to perfect the smoky eye. The good news? She tells NYLON how to get it, sans professional help.

What’s harder: making someone look like a rock star or a vampire?
That’s a good question. Probably The Runaways was a bit harder, because it was recreating real people, icons. It was hard to live up to—although Bella is pretty much a teen icon, too.”

Kellan Lutz and Nikki Reed in Nylon

“We were just making a little independent film in Portland,” says Nikki Reed of the movie that changed her life.  “I don’t know what happened.”

What happened is that Twilight exploded from a book beloved by teenage girls to become one of the cultural phenomenons of a decade.

The film grossed nearly $400 worldwide and made tabloid staples of stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, and, increasingly, the rest of the cast too.

Reed, who plays vampire Rosalie Hale, shakes her head increedulously:  “We’ve lived this entire year in shock.”

Kristen Stewart & Dakota Fanning Hit Nylon Music Tour

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning stopped by the Roxy in LA last night to take in the music at Nylon Magazine’s Summer Music Tour. Great way to chill out after a hard days work on the set of the Runaways.

The tour is coming to a city near you, and you never know which celeb who is filming in the area might drop by.

The girls were there to see Patrick Wolf. Other tour performers include Jaguar Love and the Plastiscenes among others. (FYI, the Roxy did have arrangements for under 21’s, but each stop on the tour is differnt so do check local rules.)

Ashley Greene in Nylon Magazine

Looking stunning as always, Ashley Greene posed for Nylon and answered questions on New Moon and her budding Hollywood career.

On moving to Los Angeles as a high school senior: “You’re 17. There are no adults. It’s L.A. And so I went through this stage where I would just go out, not be responsible, not focus on work or class, and my management was like, ‘Listen, you could go either way. You could be this person – I won’t name names – a reality show actress. Or you could go this way – award-winning actress.’ That was a real shock.”

On the Twilight cast: “We get along really well,” she says of her co-stars, who are all confirmed through at least a third movie. “And thank God! Can you imagine going back over and over if we didn’t?”
