Nylon Magazine:Kristen Stewart’s Make-Up Artist

Nylon matthesw

The woman behind Kristen Stewart’s look in not only the Runaways, but also in New Moon and Eclipse chatted with Nylon about her technique.

“Bella Swan’s lips. Joan Jett’s eyes. Kristen Stewart’s cheeks.

You can thank Robin Mathews for all three. The expert makeup artist has painted the faces of everyone from Dakota Fanning to Anna Faris, but, after working on the second and third installments of the Twilight franchise, her latest project just might be her most wild yet. As the makeup department head of The Runaways, she figured out a way to perfect the smoky eye. The good news? She tells NYLON how to get it, sans professional help.

What’s harder: making someone look like a rock star or a vampire?
That’s a good question. Probably The Runaways was a bit harder, because it was recreating real people, icons. It was hard to live up to—although Bella is pretty much a teen icon, too.”

This just in from Make-Up Artist magazine:

Norma Hill-Patton, the make-up department head on The Twilight Saga: New Moon, was recently featured as a keynote speaker at the first-ever International Make-Up Artist Trade Show (IMATS) in Toronto. Twilight Make-Up Artist Reveals Her Technique

The Beauty Blogging Junkie has an interview with Robin Matthews, who has worked with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning on both the Twilight and Runaways movies.

BBJ: What appealed to you most about working on the set of New Moon?

RM: We got to shoot part of New Moon in Italy, so that was a total trip. I wish I were back there now! I am currently in Vancouver shooting The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and two days prior to coming here, I wrapped The Runaways with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. By the way, those two were unbelievable; completely playing their own instruments and singing themselves. You’ve never seen Dakota Fanning look like this before. This will be a breakthrough role for the both of them I’m sure. They were undeniably fantastic. Oh, hanging out with Joan Jett every day didn’t suck either!”

InStyle’s Twilight Hair Breakdown

InStyle has got teh scoop on all the products and techniques used to transform the Twilgiht cast’s hair.

“The first step in getting Pattinson and Stewart to resemble their characters Edward and Bella was a hair transformation. “Both of their hair colors were from a previous film and needed to be corrected for their Twilight roles,” says Mary Ann Valdes, the movie’s department head hairstylist. To get the right shade, she had the actors try on wigs and when the color was decided on, she sent them to Beverly Hills salon owner Stuart Gavert (with the help of co-colorist Jonathan Castellanos) take care of the coloring.”
