Billy Burke to Promote Removed on Good Day LA

The whole discussion of his daughter’s name is adorable.

George Lopez: Billy Burke, and Julia Jones

Both Kristen Stewart’s dads were a part of last night’s show. On screen dad Billy Burke was a guest and her real-life dad, John, is the stage manager for Lopez Tonight.

Soundtrack musician Cee Lo Green also appeared.

Collider: Billy Burke From Comic Relief Charlie, to Music to Playing the Bad Guy

Billy Burke is nothing if not a straight shooter. He doesn’t mince words. Another great job from Collider.

One of the things that stands out about these films is the very real relationship between Bella and her father. Do you have a favorite scene between the two of you?

Billy: I remember working on the kitchen scene, where Charlie inadvertently tries to talk to her about sex and protection. That was actually quite fun. We had a good time with that.

Do you think that Charlie is more Team Jacob than Team Edward, when it comes to Bella, or do you think his feelings toward Edward are gradually changing, over the course of the films?

Billy: First of all, Charlie would never play that game. He would never play the team game, nor would I. I have no interest in that. But, he’s obviously got a bent towards Jacob. Jacob is the son of his best friend and he looks at him as a good kid who’s a clean, strong influence. He still doesn’t know that much about Edward, but obviously there’s something weird about him. Charlie would always bend towards Jacob.

Charlie seems to get a little upset, though, when he finds out that Jacob kissed Bella.

Billy: That would be with any kid kissing your daughter. That’s just the way it goes. My daughter is only two years old right now and I don’t look forward to those moments.”

Billy Burke to Partner With VH1 Save The Music

Billy Burke just released his debut album, Removed. A portion of the proceeds are going towards VH1’s Save the Music.  According to VH1:

“The VH1 Save The Music Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music education in America’s public schools and raising awareness about the importance of music as a part of each child’s complete education. Since 1997, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation has provided $45 million worth of new musical instruments to more than 1,700 public schools in more than 100 cities around the country, impacting the lives of more than 1.4 million public school students.”

VH1 describes Billy as: “Billy is an accomplished musician with expertise both in the guitar and the piano. He performed with the rock band The Outcast Theater in Seattle, WA for many years and has recently released his newest solo album “removed”.

Billy Burke’s Debut Album Out Tomorrow

Billy Burke sent out the following email to his website followers this morning:

“Don’t know really how to feel. I’ve been so out-of-control-busy lately but when I woke up I realized “Holy S***– my record comes out tomorrow”. As most of you know this has been quite a long time coming for me so my emotions are all over the place. Anyway we’re all very proud of this album so I hope you all enjoy it. In case it needs mentioning, Removed is due to go live at 12 noon, east coast time. (that’s 9 am over here on the west coast) tomorrow 6/22. I’ll be sending an email out as soon as it’s up, ready and available.

While the album will be available digitally in all the usual spots such as itunes, we have (it now seems unwisely) only shipped 1000 Cd’s to our distributor and given the amount of feedback we have received so far we are a little nervous that they may sell out pretty fast.

I’m normally an itunes kind of guy, however in this case the physical copies are a helluva lot sweeter because only THEY contain the 12 page booklet with the lyrics, photos, and all the other stuff that kind of makes it feel like an album. That said, keep in mind I grew up buying 12 inch vinyl records and these kooky little things we called “cassette tapes” so maybe that’s just me 🙂

Anyhow, a couple other important things to report. I’m humbled and proud to announce that a portion of the proceeds will be going to VH1 “Save the Music”. Sadly, music programs are being cut all across the country. VH1 Behind the Music is dedicated to keeping those programs alive by donating instruments and much needed funding to help keep America’s kids making music. A portion of the sale of each album sold will be going to this amazing cause.

Finally, I wanted to do something to say thank you to you guys (the subscribers) as well, and so for the first 72 hours the price of the physical copies of the album will be a mere $12.97. After 72 hours (if they don’t sell out first) the price will be going up.

So relatively speaking, for less than the price of a ticket to ECLIPSE, not only can you only pick up a new album but you can help some kids get the instruments they need while you’re at it.

That’s it for now. Keep your eye on your inbox.

P.S. I’m still working on those Q&A answers and I hope to have them
to you in the next few days.

P.P.S Congrats to the winners of the record release party tickets.
I’m looking forward to seeing you guys there on Tuesday.”

20 Questions With Billy Burke

With the release of both my debut album and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse falling within nearly a week of one another, I’ve been (needless to say) spread a little thin these days. With so much stuff going on, I feel like I haven’t been as accessible to you the subscribers as I’d like to be. One of the things that’s been so rewarding about the way we’ve decided to release this album is that with all the amazing comments, emails, tweets, and other interactive elements we’ve been employing, it’s created an atmosphere that’s a lot more intimate than these things normally are… and I like it.

In that spirit, I wanna take some time to talk about the things YOU ALL might wanna talk about. Instead of listening to some silly lame ass ask me if I’m team Edward or team Jacob, I think it might be fun to open the floor to some questions from the people that really matter.

Here’s how it’s gonna work:
You have a question? Post it in the comment field below. We’ll select 20 of them (or more depending on time constraints), I’ll video record the answers and whatever else the questions might evoke, then we’ll shoot you a link via email that hooks you up to where you can find the results.

Billy Burke: Updates Blog About Removed Album Debut

Billy Burke has updated his site about the status of his debut album Removed:

“We are not ourselves in the presence of others. By this I mean, If you really wanted to know someone, you’d have to spy on them when no one else is around. When you’re young, you truly believe that no one understands you and, well… you’re mostly right. In fact, if you can find even one or two people in your entire lifetime that genuinely care about “getting” you, you’ve done pretty well. Art (in any form) is really just a quest for some sort of remedy for that “lack of understanding” and like it or not, our lives are constantly influenced by the product of that quest and the people who set out on it. I’m pretty sure I didn’t recognize this philosophy when I was a kid but I definitely wanted to be one of THOSE people and I myself, couldn’t understand those who didn’t.

Most of the songs I’m about to release were written on cocktail napkins. I suppose if anyone had been spying on me while I sat alone in a booth or on a barstool scratching them down, they may have gotten a glimpse of the real me. Although I never consciously write songs in order to be understood, those whose ears this music falls upon will be in a way, hearing “me” when no one else is around.

On June 22nd, 2010 — “removed”, my 12 song debut album will be available as a digital download or mail order physical copy (with 12 page booklet) either here on this site, at iTunes, or wherever you buy your music. Please know that hard copies of the CD with booklet are in limited supply so if you want one we urge you to order quickly.”
