MTV: Robert Pattinson Talks Tent Scene Reshoots

Robert talks about the tent scene reshoot. At the time various gossip sites tried to insinuate that the film was in massive trouble due to these reshoots. One went so far as to state that David Slade was being replaced, and Summit was in negotiations with Catherine Hardwicke and Chris Weitz to rescue the film. Obviously, this later proved to be complete fabrication. Ironically enough Rob saw the rough cut of the film the day after his scene was reshot (probably why he remembers it so clearly as you will see in the video) it was also the same version shown to the Oprah audience roughly 5 days later. So the film was essentially done at the time of the reshoots minus minor tweaking. Once the film opens in wide release, Alphie will give her thoughts on what the differences between the two versions were and which she liked better and why.

The LA Twilight Convention Photo Tour

Kaleb Nation, the Twilight Guy, has put together a photo montage of the Eclipse cast as seen at the Official Twilight Convention in Los Angeles. There are fantastic shots of Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson…everyone.

Jen and Laura (Be My Escape and Pel) will be at the Official Twilight Convention this weekend in Phoenix.

FearNet: Exclusive: Melissa Rosenberg on ‘Eclipse,’ ‘Breaking Dawn,’ and Feathers

melissa-rosenbergheadshotFearNet and Jen Yamato are back with another great Q & A, this time with Melissa Rosenberg.

You’ve now written three full films in the franchise; how much has each script responded to critiques, from fans and/or critics, of the previous films?

I’m not sure; everybody who’s involved in them, we really try to do our best to stay true to the book. There are going to be some people who don’t like that and some people who do, and if you start responding to the people who don’t like it you start pissing off the people who did. So you have to be true to your own creative instincts for what works and what doesn’t. If people ignored the movie and boycotted it coming in and it didn’t do well, then I think we would be listening. But the movies have done tremendously, so obviously somebody likes them! So we keep going with our gut.

How early on did Stephenie share with you the events and character details that made it into her new Twilight novella, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner?

It would have been in the outline stage. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to introduce Riley; that was one of my first ideas: let’s open on Riley and how he was created. Coming up with a back story for him and all of that. I think I had probably finished a draft of the outline, it was somewhere around then, and I was asking [Stephenie] about what the newborns were up to — what was going on for them while Bella’s living her life, because they’re living it simultaneously? And that’s when she shared it with me and I was really able to fill out some of their activities and how Riley was directing them. So it was right there in the beginning.”

IESB: The Bad Vampire’s Interview, Eclipse Press Conference

BryceeclipseXavier Samuel, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Dakota Fanning participated in the press roundtable.

Q: Dakota, you are so very evil in this. What was that like?

Dakota: This is the first time I’ve gotten to play the same character in a different film. It was really great.  I love playing this character. It’s a fun character to get to play. And, being a part of all that is Twilight is such an honor and still kind of surreal for me. I feel so lucky to be a part of it.

Q: What do you like about this character?

Dakota: She’s obviously not the nicest person, but it’s kind of fascinating to be able to play someone that takes pleasure in hurting people. That’s a weird thing to get to do and, obviously, something I’ve never done before.

Q: Bryce, how is it coming into this world for the first time?

Bryce: I had not only read the books, but one of my friends actually made this little pack of Post-It notes for me with Rob’s face, that said, “Live dangerously.” All of my friends were like, “Why are you so  obsessed?” I was just like, “It’s so dangerous. Their love is so dangerous.” It was very fast and it was very sudden. To be honest, I was intimidated going into it, for a variety of reasons, but I felt so lucky to get to meet this group of people. It’s a group of people that have genuine friendships and are so deeply committed to doing justice to these stories, and who always put the character and the story first. Obviously, that’s translated, and I think that’s why the movies are as beloved as they are.”

IESB: The Wolfpack Interview from the Eclipse Press Conference

wolfpackeclipse

IESB has transcribed the interview of the wolfpack at the Eclipse press conference. Chaske Spencer, Julia Jones, and Alex Meraz participated.

“Q: Julia, how was it to join the Wolf Pack as the only female member?

Julia: You know, it happened really fast. All of a sudden, I was thrown into this group of boys and, for me personally, I was a tomboy growing up, so it felt really familiar. I have a younger brother, who’s about the same age as some of them, so there was something that resonated, initially. But, over the course of filming and some of the press that we’ve been doing, it’s like home. It just feels like family now, and it’s great.

Q: Were you a fan of the first two Twilight films? Had you known about the role at all?

Julia: I have a lot of friends who are big fans. I had never read the books before, but I actually had a very good friend of mine tell me about this role of Leah Clearwater. She said, “They’re going to make a movie out of it, and it’s you. This is going to be your role.” That’s something you hear, and it just goes in one ear and out the other. Like, “That’s sweet. She wants the best for me,” or whatever. And then, when I got the call for the audition, all I heard was, “You have an audition on Monday for Leah Clearwater in Twilight,” and I had this visceral reaction. My heart started beating really fast and I had to breathe. It was very strange. And then, I went to work.”

Interview Magazine Profiles Xavier Samuel

XavierINterviewMAgThe interesting thing about this interview is that it is done by Xavier’s co-star and Twilight newbie, Bryce Dallas Howard. Anyone who was at the LA Twilight convention I think would agree that the two of them have amazing on stage chemistry and respect in a brother and sister kind of way.

“BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD: So now that you’re almost on the other side with Eclipse, how has everything been for you? It’s all been a little wild, right?

XAVIER SAMUEL: Yeah, it has. It’s kind of like being struck by lightning in a way, because it all seems so improbable.

HOWARD: Eclipse is your first American film.

SAMUEL: It is. I’ve been doing American auditions for a while, and it always felt sort of like sending these audition tapes off into the ether. So just hearing anything back from anyone was kind of startling.

HOWARD: When we were shooting Eclipse, it was amazing for me to see how the girls all went berserk over you. These girls were totally losing their minds—and much like everyone else in the cast who experiences those sorts of things, you dealt with it really graciously and wonderfully. Were you at all startled by that?

SAMUEL: I mean, it’s kind of bizarre, isn’t it? Having that kind of attention. I’m not under the microscope in the same fashion that a lot of the other cast members are, so I think I can slide under the radar a little bit more, but getting any attention at all is completely new for me.

HOWARD: Well, it’s been interesting to see how these young women have responded to you and your hair and your accent.

SAMUEL: My hair and my accent are sort of my main assets.”
