Bryce Dallas Howard Opens Up About Post Partum Depression

Bryce Dallas Howard like many women suffered from severe post partum depression, and more importantly, like many, many women she was in denial about what was controlling her life.

E! first alerted us to the article that Bryce had written on Gwenneth Paltrow’s blog. It’s an incredible read. If you have ever suffered with this disorder or know someone who has you’ll cry in recognition. If not, it’s really something every woman should read because you don’t know if it could strike you.

“A friend invited me to a “pow-wow” of mothers (in a tepee nonetheless); there we talked about the trials and tribulations of motherhood. The woman next to me coined the phrase “post partum denial,” and hearing her story helped me to understand my own. When I shared, somewhat disconnectedly and inarticulately some of my own disappointments, my feeling of not measuring up to what Theo deserved in a mother, one woman responded, “It takes a long time for them to grow up. You’ll have time to discover the kind of mother you are.” Another woman suggested I read Brooke Shields “Down Came the Rain.” Her book was a revelation.

Then one day I was sitting in my home with my best friend and my sister, and out of nowhere I got this sudden feeling of summer. When I told them they looked at me curiously and chuckled a little. I searched for a better way to describe my feelings, “I dunno, I just got this feeling… like everything is going to be okay.”

My depression was lifting. Later that day, I saw one of my closest friends; the person who had performed our wedding ceremony and had also videotaped Theo’s birth. He looked at me and without skipping a beat he said, “My friend is back.” I smiled. “It’s like you’ve been abducted by ‘The Borg’ for a year and a half, and now you’re back.”

What’s the Twilight connection you might ask? Though not stated in this article, this was the point in time that they were casting the first movie and then shooting it. Full article is here (scroll down a bit)

Deseret News: Profiles Kiowa Gordon

Utah’s Deseret News interviewed Kiowa Gordon, who will be appearing at a number of events in the Utah area. (Photo credit: Camile Nighthorse, AKA Kiowa’s mom)

“Gordon, a newcomer at the time[of the casting search for Native Americans], got the much-coveted part due in part to a lucky break. He is a member of Meyer’s LDS Church ward in Arizona, and “when she told me they were casting for the movie, I jumped at the opportunity.”

And he said he has enjoyed the chance to play a “strong” Native American character in the film. Gordon is a member of Arizona’s Hualapai tribe, which is probably best known for maintaining and operating the Grand Canyon’s “Skywalk.”

“I love being able to honor my roots and my heritage, especially in movies that are so hugely popular,” he said by telephone from Los Angeles.

Gordon said his mother and manager, Camille Nighthorse, has been responsible for his cultural upbringing.”

MTV: Kellan Lutz vs Henry Cavill

For those of you who remember Twilight history, you know that Stephenie Meyer had cited Henry Cavill as an actor she had in mind for Edward Cullen back before there was ever a movie script. There were countless avatars, forum signatures, and YouTube videos featuring Henry as Edward back in 2006-2007. Incidentally, the Bella in all those graphics was usually Emily Browning.

Anyway, Henry is now in the movie The Immortals with Kellan Lutz. MTV’s Hollywood Crush asked Kellan Lutz whose god would win in a battle,”Kellan’s Greek God of the sea or Henry’s Titan Theseus”.

Peter Facinelli Filming Loosies in Tight Quarters

PeterloosiesAccording to the Providence Journal, Peter Facinelli’s set for the new movie Loosies is a little cramped, but that’s not stopping the cast and crew from getting quality work done.

‘Director Michael Corrente is sitting on a director’s chair in a hallway of the old Cranston police station watching a widescreen TV monitor where Peter Facinelli is playing an emotion-charged scene in the movie “Loosies.”

Facinelli, co-star of the highly successful “Twilight” movies and Showtime TV’s “Nurse Jackie,” is in his undershirt at a kitchen table which is part of a movie-set kitchen that’s on the other side of the partition directly behind Corrente.

The set, which is supposed to be in a New York City apartment, is so tiny there’s room to fit only the actors, cinematographer and sound man. But Corrente, who is directing his first film since “Brooklyn Rules” in 2007, says it doesn’t matter that he’s not up front with the actors. With the new digital technology, which allows the camera to hone in blazingly close on Facinelli’s eyelashes, he can direct the movie via TV monitor, with only occasional forays onto the actual set where Facinelli’s character is having a tense moment with his mother, played by Marianne Leone of “The Sopranos.””

AP: What Happens When Taylor Lautner Comes to Your Town

The AP has a three-day cataloging of exactly what happened in a small Pennsylvania town where Taylor Lautner was filming Abduction.

“As Day Two dawned, a handful of girls were camped out by 7 a.m. More arrived, perhaps twice as many as the day before. Some were younger: Maryah Rosenwald, 13, wrote “I heart Taylor” on her arms and legs with a Sharpie and carried a hand-lettered “Marry Me” sign and a Ring Pop for the engagement. Others were older, just a few months younger than Lautner and decked out for a date.

Not everyone was thrilled. The football team sweated through morning practice without a girl so much as glancing at them. “I kind of want him to leave,” groused freshman football player C.J. Arch.

Arch’s friend Jayden Korber, also a freshman, looked on the bright side: Lautner “brought all these new girls to town,” he said. “I’ll just do the clean-up work.”

By afternoon, it was humid and boring. Nothing to see except the brick exterior of their school. Hannah Rice, 14, mentioned that her mom had contacted the production company to offer up the family’s house. “It would have been cool to say he slept in my bed,” Hannah said. “I’d start drooling.”

Then squeals, and a chorus erupted:

“I would have stolen his clothes.”

“I would have stolen his underwear!”

“I would have stolen him! I’d have locked him in my closet and not let him go!”

As giggles subsided, reality seemed to suck the air out of their fun. “He’s so close,” Amber Beemer said. “But you can’t get him.”
