Tinsel Korey Supports One Warm Kid Campaign

According to the campaign’s press release:

P.S. from Aeropostale, a mall-based specialty retailer of casual and active apparel for young women and men, today announced that it has partnered with nonprofit One Warm Coat to create its first annual ‘1 Warm Kid‘ campaign, a coat drive for kids that will run from October 11, 2010 through October 31, 2010 at P.S. from Aeropostale locations across the country.  In support of the campaign, P.S. from Aeropostale will match every donated coat with a brand new coat up to 100,000.

’1 Warm Kid’ aims to raise awareness of the growing numbers of families living in poverty and to collect as many coats as possible, all of which will be donated to local agencies where they will be distributed to families in need this winter.  A growing list of celebrities are lending their support to the campaign and encouraging others to participate.  Those who donate will have the chance to win signed coats from Ellen DeGeneres, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, Cole and Dylan Sprouse (“Suite Life on Deck”), Debby Ryan (“Suite Life on Deck”). Jennette McCurdy (“iCarly”), Devid Henrie (“Wizards of Waverly Place”), David Del Rio (“The Troop”), Tinsel Korey (“Twilight”), and more.

“1 in 5 kids live in poverty. It’s startling to learn of how many families struggle to have the basic necessities, such as a coat,” said Scott Birnbaum, Senior Vice President of Marketing of Aeropostale, Inc.  ”1 Warm Kid will provide warmth to many families this winter and shed light on this growing epidemic.”

A driving force behind the success of ’1 Warm Kid’ is P.S. from Aeropostale’s relationship with the schools in its local communities.  Through their partnership with One Warm Coat, more than 1600 schools were invited to participate in the coat drive.  To activate students and entice school participation, P.S. from Aeropostale is awarding prizes to the top three schools that collect the most coats.  First prize school will win $5,000 and a party in their school.  The second and third place schools will win $3,000 and $1,000, respectively.

“We are excited to have the support and encouragement from schools across the country,” said One Warm Coat President Sherri Lewis Wood.  ”We know school kids can be a powerful force in community service. 1 Warm Kid provides them with an opportunity that is easy to implement and will have an immediate impact in their own community.”

In addition to the schools organizing drives, P.S. from Aeropostale welcomes individual donations as well.  As an extra incentive for anyone who donates, P.S. from Aeropostale will give 25% off your next purchase, though no purchase is necessary.

Access Hollywood: Breaking Dawn I, 2nd Most Anticipated Film of 2011

breaking_dawncoverAccording to Access Hollywood:

#2 – “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part I”
Starring: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner
Directed by: Bill Condon
Release date: November 18, 2011

Why we’re excited: Why aren’t we excited is the better question. What better way to kick off the beginning of the end of “The Twilight Saga” then with a little vampire-human wedding & honeymoon action! Plus, we all know what happens on the honeymoon, right???… Room service! No? Hmm. OK, how ‘bout this — “There will be sex scenes – multiple sex scenes,” screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg previously told Access Hollywood of the romance we’ll see between Edward and Bella. Hey now! Summit has yet to announce exactly where the “Breaking Dawn” storyline will be split, but Part I will begin to put the bow on this pop culture-transcending saga, which has turned vampires and werewolves from cheap Halloween decorations to every kid’s favorite supernatural bestie. Whether you’re Team Edward or Team Jacob or even Team Whatever Happened To That Nice Rachelle LeFevere, grab your lawn chairs and get in line – there’s only 14 months until opening night – knowing the “Twi-Hards,” the good seats are probably already taken!”

The number one anticipated film honor goes to Deathly Hallows part II. It’s hard to feel bad about losing the number one spot to the ten-year in the making conclusion of the Harry Potter movies. What’s also really noticeable is the release date. Breaking Dawn is without competition for that Thanksgiving box office spot just like it had for Twilight and New Moon. The other films on the list are all Christmas, July 4, or Memorial Day release where there are multiple blockbusters debuting.

This past summer, Eclipse got lucky when anticipated summer blockbusters like Robin Hood and The Last Airbender fizzled fast. Only Inception lived up to the hype and its budget. Other summer films are hoping to recoup budget in the DVD market-not something Eclipse has to worry about.

Maggie Grace Co-Stars in Faster

If you want to see Maggie Grace on the big screen before Breaking Dawn you have a chance in November when Faster open. Maggie Grace Co-stars along with Dwayne Johnson (AKA The Rock).

According to Collider:

“Dwayne Johnson is looking to push into more action after a slew of kid-friendly flicks and CBS Films’ Faster is his re-entry into the genre. George Tillman, Jr. (Soul Food, Barbershop) will direct the hard-nosed revenge flick, written by Joe and Tony Gayton (Bulletproof). The flick has already received an R rating and the new clip certainly shows its violent and sexy side.”

Maggie appears prominently starting at the 1:24 mark through the end. The trailer has been rated R for violence. Personal opinion, nothing too, too gory but certainly images of violence involving guns and a knife, so click at your own risk.

Kellan Lutz at the Sitges Festival 2010

Last year Jamie Campbell-Bower attended the Sitges Festival and got a warm welcome. This year. Kellan Lutz wowed the crowd speaking a little Spanish and talking about the films and himself. Shout out to our friend Javier from Crepusculo who we are pretty sure based on the fuzzy images was one stage doing the Q&A! Back in 2006 there were only three sites other than MySpace that were large that covered Twilight: The Lexicon, Twilighers Italia, and Crepusculo. They also had a follow up interview with Kellan that you can find here.

Pixie Lott Wants a Twilight Role

According Music Rooms the UK singer Pixie Lott wants to be a part of Breaking Dawn.

“Pixie has admitted to having a crush on Robert in the past, and thinks starring in the hotly-anticipated penultimate film in the series – Breaking Dawn: Part 1, which is due out next year – might help her snag her man.

“I’ve always wanted to get my hands on Robert Pattinson and I guess it would be fun to have my face whitened up and suck on people’s blood,” she laughed.”

See more on Music Rooms.

Do you think Pixie is a big enough of a name to walk the carpet of the premieres if she doesn’t get cast?

Pixie is the latest in entertainment industry people professing Twilight love.

Daniel Radcliffe Speaks for Edward Cullen…Sort of…

According to the On the Red Carpet:

‘The Simpsons will be taking on The Twilight Saga in their annual “Treehouse of Horror” Halloween episode and Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe will be voicing a vampire named Edmund.

Fans can see a glimpse of what Radcliffe’s character, a vampire named Edmund, will look like in art released by Fox (seen right).

In “Tweenlight,” which is a short in the episode, Lisa Simpson falls for the new vampire student.“Daniel was very excited to do The Simpsons,” exec producer Al Jean told Entertainment Weekly in November 2009, “We kept trying to ask him for secrets from the upcoming Harry Potter movie until we realized that they were all in the books.”

See more On the Red Carpet

Twilight Poison found the official summary from  Fox:

THE SIMPSONS (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) – “Treehouse of Horror XXI”

The supernatural spells continue in “Tweenlight,” when Lisa (Yeardley Smith) becomes smitten with a mysterious new student, Edmund (guest voice Daniel Radcliffe), who also happens to be a vampire. When a romance blossoms, the young lovers run away to Dracula-la Land, leaving Homer (Dan Castellaneta) to come to Lisa’s rescue.

It will be interesting to see who else goes the Twilight themed Halloween route. Last two years The Office has had Twilight elements in their Halloween and Christmas shows.

Where Does the Forks High School Facade Demolition Stand

There’s been a lot of back and forth as to what the status of the Forks High School’s 1920’s era facade is.

Here’s a recap of exactly what is going down:

1) Initial plans called for the facade of the 1920’s era building to be left as a free-standing structure in tribute to the original building.(see artist’s rendering at left).

2) It was announced on Monday that unexpected costs to make the structure safe and stable would run far ahead of what was budgeted

3) Forks, due to a legal requirement, has to hold a public hearing to determine what if anything should be done to save the facade. The date for the hearing is not as of yet set. The Peninsula Daily News gave the specifics of this requirement:

“The conditional use permit granted by the city to do the construction work requires the district to give the public time to save the facade through alternate funding, Superintendent Diana Reaume said Monday.

The bid by Primo Construction Inc. of Carlsborg includes an alternate additional $271,000 to reinforce the facade to remain as a memory of the 1925 school building, the rest of which was torn down in June.

“Our efforts to save the facade are not over,” Reaume said.

Under terms of the city conditional use permit, the school district must hold a public hearing and give the public 45 days to come up with alternative funding, Reaume said.

The date for the hearing has not been set, but will be shortly, Reaume said.

“Also, even though the alternate bid [to reinforce the facade] was rejected at this time, the district has 45 more days to go back and accept any of the alternatives previously rejected,” she said.”

4) Approximately 2 years ago when the Lexicon visited the town, Lori, Laura and other Lexiconers talked to various town members about Twilighters doing something for Forks. This was prior to the movies being released and Breaking Dawn wasn’t yet in print when this conversation began. At that time there was talk of trying to save the entire building and the Twilighters for Forks (a charitable 501c3 corp) was established to raise funds that could go towards saving the building or for the youth of Forks should the building not prove savable. We supported that group’s efforts. It should be noted that this group has/had no official decision making capacity over Forks High School construction. They are not in any way part of the school administration, just people in town who cared and wanted to try to do something for the kids.

The fund is still active, they have not decided exactly what this money should go towards but they are weighing their options. There was some widespread misconception that this fund was a brand new effort to fund the facade when some Twilight fans found an old link on the Forks Forum website. That link has since been edited to remove the Lexicon name because we haven’t been involved with that fund in quite some time. To quote one of the fund administrators, :

“Now that we seem to be back in the spotlight again, I talked to Chris at the Forks Forum and we are looking at updating the Twilighters for Forks page to explain where we are at and what we propose to do with any contributions. Until we get some feedback from the school and the construction manager, we are not sure what to put on there.”

5) There are currently bricks from the old building being salvaged and sold as a fund raising effort for the Forks High School scholarship fund. The district superintendent also spoke about this to the Peninsula Daily News:

“Because of the many people with memories of the high school and actual Twilight fans with attachment to the building, the district is in the process of having 1,500 bricks from the demolished portion salvaged, Reaume said.

The bricks must be professionally cleaned, then will be put up for bid at the 2011 Forks Scholarship Auction.

The money from the auction will not be used to save the facade(emphasis Twilight Lexicon), Reaume said.

“That money will go right back to the kids,” she said”

6) We just got a press release from the Dazzled By Twilight store that is located in Forks. They are the folks that do the driving tours around town. They are collecting money that will hopefully go to saving the facade if that is in fact that the town actually decides to save it. This is their own independent undertaking; they are not a 501c3; they are not connected with or have the authority over the school in any way. If the facade is not going to be saved, they state, “If we don’t raise enough money to save the facade, all proceeds will be donated to the Forks School District Stadium Fund.”

As this story continues to develop, we will continue to bring you the latest updates.
