Birthday Giveaway Number #3: A Vampire Baseball

This month we celebrate FIVE years on line with the Twilight fandom!  We posted a podcast at the beginning of the month answering the questions you asked us about various Twilight moments and trivia.  Every Thursday this month we will be holding a giveaway using questions from that podcast as your way to enter the contest and win amazing prizes!  This is our way of saying thank you for all the support you’ve given the Lexicon for the last five years.

So far we have given away an Edward doll made by Tonner Dolls to Dee from Kentucky and a Montepulciano, Italy bag signed by three of the Volturi and Peter Facinelli to Allie from California. Well, now we are up to our next item.

We saw a vampire signed baseball go up for a charity auction a couple of months ago and we knew it was a unique, fan must have. We bid on it and won! And now we are going to give a vampire baseball signed by Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, and Ashley Greene to our next lucky winner.

Here is this week’s trivia question:

“What is the question Lori (Alphie) says reporters ask 99.9% of the time?”

Remember, all of our birthday giveaways are open to anyone, anywhere in the world. It doesn’t matter where!

Edited: We forgot to announce when we’d pull the winner! Sorry about that on a ton of cold meds and I’m a little out of it. Winner pulled at 11:59pm est this Saturday the 19th of march.

Stick Man Theater Does a Special Segment For Our Birthday!

We love the guys over at Stick Man Theater. They do these hilarious, short versions of the Twilight movies and novels using stick figures. Their stuff is simple, but has just the right amount of good-natured snark and humor. They’ve also recently branched out into Harry Potter and True Blood.

Well in honor of our birthday, they did a 12 cell condensed version of the Twilight Saga.

Check out all the cells and the rest of their work over on their site!

Nikki Reed Given Kudos For Supporting Going Green

According to Mother Nature Network:

“Nikki Reed is on a one-woman recycling mission. “It’s very upsetting to me but apparently my building does not have recycling. They say that the city separates it but I don’t believe it and I don’t feel good about mixing all my trash. So I do it on my own. There’s a man who comes to my alley and collects cans and stuff so I give it to him,” she told us at the launch party for the fashion collection UK Style by French Connection. Reed was on a break from back-to-back shooting on the two “Breaking Dawn” movies that will close the “Twilight” saga. “We’re almost done, like four more weeks,” she said, not quite sure how she’ll react when it’s over, since in the past there was always another installment to look forward to.”

USA Today: Hollywood Brings Out a New Breed of Brawn

Eclipse trailer Jacob abd BellaUSA Today covers a variety of reasons why actors who have been around and were not really well known, to total newcomers are going to be making a splash this year as the latest predicted Hollywood heartthrobs. These types are coming in two categories and Twilight, they claim, is part of the reason:

“The ‘Twilight’ factor

The reason for the double standard?

“It’s the two archetypes you see in Twilight,” Dergarabedian suggests. In one corner is brooding vampire Edward and, in the other, burly werewolf Jacob. “It’s probably an attempt to make sure women see these films.”

Not a bad guess. Yes, the target audience of such geek-squad fare remains men 18 to 25, who can almost always be counted on to show up for at least the opening weekend of a comic-book adventure. But as the cost for special-effects and possible 3-D treatment escalates, it isn’t a bad idea to reach beyond the core crowd and add some eye candy for the ladies as well.

Consider that the first three romantic Gothic thrillers based on the hugely popular book series have collected nearly $1.8 billion total in worldwide ticket sales by targeting female ticket buyers.

Meanwhile, barely known actors Robert Pattinson, 24, and Taylor Lautner, 19, turned into overnight sensations. Besides, it is normal for the definition of a movie hunk to go in cycles, says Jeanine Basinger, head of film studies at Wesleyan University.”

We Love Writers, But Please Save Your Money!

This probably sounds like a really weird blog entry title, but we’ve been getting a bunch of unsolicited material and we don’t want people to waste their hard earned money doing something that won’t help them. We know a lot of sites are branching out into other YA titles. Kudos to those sites! We love to read. However, book blogging on other books  not something that we are going to be doing here.

We are a Stephenie Meyer and Twilight fan site. That’s always been our primary focus. Sometimes we have diverged, but there has always been a Twilight book or movie or Lexicon staffer connection. In our five years, we’ve only ever written a blog story about four authors other than Stephenie Meyer. Each of those authors had a very strong personal connection to Stephenie Meyer and/or and done some great service for the fans/Lexicon. It’s not that we don’t like other authors, far from it!  Just to name drop some current favorites: Deanna Raybourn, Stephanie Perkins, Myra McEntire, Jon Lewis, J.R. Ward, Elizabeth Eulberg.  It’s that we just don’t have time to do justice to anything else and well…we are what we are: a Twilight and Stephenie Meyer site.

So please! Don’t spend your hard earned money on sending us your books, movies, CD’s. Spend it where it will matter!  Check out book blogging sites that will fit your genre. Just to name a few:

Novel Novice

Eve’s Fan Garden

Maw Books

The Secret Life of a Bibliophile
