The Lexicon gets a Mobile Facelift

When the Lexicon started in March 2006 we never considered that anyone would be reading the blog or having discussions on the forum with anything other than a traditional computer. Heck, we didn’t know that many people who even had laptops back then.

Today that has all changed, and while the Lexicon has had a mobile site for several years to help people on Blackberry, IPhone, etc. , today we want to unveil our new look for the ever increasing number of folks who view us on smart phone browsers.  We hope that you agree with us that this is a visually pleasing and easier-to-use format.

We want to thank Openhome, one of our Forum Moderators for all the new Mobile artwork. She created the splash screen that you see to the left(it’s what shows while our app is loading) among other things. We’d also like to give a shout out to Jazz Girl, Edwards Wheels, VirginiaMay, and  roo-roo91 for testing the mobile version of the forums, and rounding up other testers. And of course a huge TY to our resident tech guru 24601 for getting this to all work!

To access our mobile site, just visit us with your smart phone’s Internet browser. As a reminder, each mobile device is different, and so the images you see may be slightly different than the ones shown. [Read more…]

James Franco, Yale, and a Twilight Spoof Musical?

Our friends over at the Twilight News Site caught wind of an article in the Yale University Newspaper. James Franco (yes THAT James Franco) is a doctoral student there.  It seems like James still has this Twilight obsession going and is now turning it into a live performance parody…maybe. Details are sketchy, but The Twilight News Site has a link to the Yale article and some really good blow-by-blow commentary, and a history of Franco and Twilight. Here’s there lead in:

“There is a confusing article in the Yale University student newspaper, about a confusing film/stage production, led by confusing doctoral student James Franco, which is thought to be a confusing version of “Twilight.”  Or “High School Musical.” But with more sex, violence, and “surrealism.”

We already know that Franco is a big Twilight fan, although his take on the films seems to be limited to the notion of “What do girls want? Do they even know?” And we already know that Franco asked Bill Condon if he could appear in “Breaking Dawn,” and was given an unequivocal “no.” So this, it appears, is Franco’s response…”

Check out the full editorial on The Twilight News Site.

In case anyone is wondering about the legalities of such a venture, if something is a true spoof/parody (in other words an over-the-top comedic send-up that no one could mistake for a serious sequel/prequel) then that is fine to do. That’s how SNL, Jimmy Fallon, and similar shows can do their Twilight Spoofs/parodies.

Additional Actresses to play Renesmee

His Golden Eyes discovered that two other actresses are now listed next to the role of Renesmee on the IMDB. Lexicon reader Sarah also pointed out to a Facebook page that backs this information up( you have to scroll a bit to find it, and warning creepy picture from a movie on that page).

Check out the full story and speculation on how these actresses will fit into the process on His Golden Eyes.

Twilight Fans Perched on Government Building to Catch a Glimpse of Filming

It certainly seems like our Southern Twilight fans are just as dedicated as those in the Pacific Northwest! According to The Advocate:

“Jamie Ryan, 28, said it was her first time visiting Baton Rouge as she peered over the ledge of the State Capitol building’s observation deck on Friday afternoon, bundled up against the cold wind that whipped her hair around.

She’d flown in from Lubbock, Texas, on Thursday and had been perched on the lookout post for more than four hours with brand-new binoculars pressed to her face.

But Ryan wasn’t interested in the sights of the capital city — her eyes were locked on the enormous green screen erected in Arsenal Park, trying to catch sight of the stars of the “Twilight” movie filming there.

“I’m staying right here,” she said of her spot, where at least five other fans lingered around her. “I am determined to see something.”

“Twilight” mania hit the streets of downtown Baton Rouge this week when the movie’s crew began building a massive green backdrop near the State Capitol building that sent the local rumor mill and online forums into a frenzy.”

Shout out to the girls who run the Twilight Takes Over Baton Rouge Facebook page for getting a mention in the article. They are an enthusiastic and classy group!

Twilight in Baton Rouge: A Resident Fan’s View

One of our Lexicon readers, Kathryn, is from Baton Rouge. We asked her to write up a short piece on what it has been like from a fan’s perspective on having the Twilight cast and crew in her hometown.

“So, I’m originally from Baton Rouge, LA where Bill Condon and Co. are currently filming Breaking Dawn. But, sadly, I am currently residing in Illinois while I finish graduate school. Needless to say when Summit announced that some Twilight filming would be done in my hometown, I was upset. My mother has been keeping me updated with what’s going on with the filming.

Firstly, the cast (and crew, I assume) are staying in a complex which is about 3 minutes from where my parents live. I tried to hang out there one day when I was home for Christmas with no luck in catching a glimpse. For most of the week I was home, the actors were away. And in case you’re not familiar with the area, unless the actors actually come out and walk around a nearby shopping area they will not be seen. You have to have a security code to even get into the private parking garage which is attached to the complex where they are staying. It’s completely enclosed. Security is tight there at any time. With the Twilight cast and crew there you might as well be trying to break into Fort Knox.

I talked to my mom on Tuesday, and she informed me that they have been setting up all week to film right down the street from where she works, at the Department of Education downtown. Her building is right across from the Mississippi River, and they’re filming in Arsenal Park…just in case anyone would like to safely and LEGALLY attempt to scope out the filming this weekend.

This morning my mom sent me an email to say they were moving in set pieces (statuary, columns, plant life), some props, and the main actor’s trailers. They were also getting ready to block off the area from through traffic. Then, around 3pm my mom sent me another message: She had just received an email saying that the lights to her building and parking garage were going to be cut off so they wouldn’t interfere with filming. Supposedly, they will be there filming all weekend.

Another interesting piece of information I received was one of my mom’s co-workers has a daughter who is actually an extra in the movie. Her role is  and she gets $100 per day of filming. When she was cast she had to sign a confidentiality agreement stating that when she is called into filming she will not tell anyone the actual location.”

TY to Kathryn for sharing her story.

Rumor Patrol: Not a Renesmee Breaking Dawn Photo

It seems like everyone in town is running the below photo and stating it is a Breaking Dawn still. Our inbox is going crazy with “Did you see this?” emails. It’s not, though the flowers are eerily similar to the meadow flowers from Eclipse.

It’s from an old fashion photo shoot, see video below for proof. The video was shot before MacKenzie booked Breaking Dawn.
