Next Movie’s Confessions of a Male Twihard has a tongue-in-cheek look at Valentine’s Day with Twilight commentary.
Flowers
According to Stephenie Meyer, she isn’t sure why a ruffled tulip appears on the cover of “New Moon” because she wasn’t involved with the cover design. We can guess it stems from the idea that the ruffled tulip symbolizes perfect love. Buying a bouquet of those would be a nice gesture for even non-fans. Put the ruffled tulips in a black vase for fans, though.
If you’d like to forego the traditional flower gift, send your lover a fruit basket instead, filled only with red apples. If you have a dramatic bent, perhaps present one apple first in your hands like on the “Twilight” cover. If you’re a bit on the crazy side, you can take a bite from each one beforehand to symbolize your desire to eat the “forbidden fruit.”

Catherine Hardwicke has the upcoming Red Riding Hood hitting screens next month, but apparently she couldn’t even make a pitch for another movie because she is a woman. Moviefone has not only Catherine’s quote, but an analysis of the situation.
“…it’s Catherine Hardwicke, who’s revealed that she was blocked from pitching to direct ‘The Fighter’ because she’s a woman.
Hardwicke told The Wrap last week: “I couldn’t get an interview even though my last movie made $400 million. I was told it had to be directed by a man — am I crazy? It’s about action, it’s about boxing, so a man has to direct it … But they’ll let a man direct ‘Sex in the City’ or any girly movie you’ve ever heard of.”
It would be quite easy to immediately jump on that particular $400 million movie. ‘Twilight’ isn’t the sort of fare that will give anyone a lot of clout at the bargaining tables outside of teen romance. The rabid fandom that led to the series’ success, and the subject matter and treatment at hand are quite narrow in focus. It might seem like a stretch for the woman known for only tackling youth-based subjects to get a drama about an adult male boxer and his brother.
But to do so ignores two key points.
One: Hollywood has always allowed fro surprising choices.
Two: Hardwicke didn’t say she was refused because of her past work.”

As you can tell from article about Blockbuster filing for bankruptcy protection, things aren’t going so well for the video store industry. People are getting movies either right in their homes via Video on Demand (VOD) or just by downloading. According to the LA Times:
“Although there are no industrywide charts for digital downloads, Apple reported in December that the most popular movies of the year on iTunes were, in order, “The Hurt Locker,” “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” “Hot Tub Time Machine,” “Iron Man 2” and “Zombieland,” according to CNET News.”
