KCA 2010: Updates – The Bieb Speaks

Kids Choice Awards 2010

Voting is still open so, if you haven’t voted yet you still have a chance if you act quickly!.

Aside from the stars featured in the video, Jackson Rathbone is slated to be there. He is promoting The Last Airbender with his co-star Nicola Peltz.   Last year Taylor Lautner picked up the award for Stephenie Meyer for Twilight winning the favorite book series, and somehow he didn’t get slimed!  Anyone hoping we see Jackson getting hit with some green goo tonight?

Fearnet: Jackson Rathbone on ‘Love-Lust’ in ‘Twilight: Eclipse’

Rathbone stareJen Yamato, one of our favorite bloggers, is back with a Jackson Rathbone interview. So good that Jackson is doing press. i mean did we have a dry spell with Jackson or what!

“FEARnet caught up with Jackson Rathbone, currently on tour with his band 100 Monkeys, for more details on what to expect from Jasper’s steamy Civil War-era flashbacks. He teased his scenes with Oscar-nominated actress Catalina Sandino Moreno, who plays the vampire Maria, and gave us a glimpse of what we’ll see in Jasper’s back story. (Hint: Fighting! Horses! Lust!)

In addition to his Civil War days, expect to see Jasper’s training put to good use in Eclipse‘s present, as he trains his fellow Cullens for battle. But fun as those scenes were, Rathbone tells us he had a particularly strange time throwing punches at certain cast-mates…

(Fans following Rathbone’s parallel music career: also see what he said about taking 100 Monkeys on the road after their current U.S. tour.  And stay tuned for more from our chat with Rathbone on his horror flick Dread!)”

Hollywood Crush: Jackson Rathbone and Jasper’s Journey

jacksonrathboneMTV’s Hollywood Crush caught up with Jackson Rathbone and had a few questions. Jackson talks about working with David Slade and literally getting back in the saddle again:

“”There are some really cool action scenes,” Jackson told Hollywood Crush. “We worked with some amazing stunt men and women who were so incredible and just a lot of fun to work with and collaborate with. They taught me a lot. So I hope to see a lot more of the action [in the next ‘Eclipse’ trailer].”

Though we don’t learn much about Jackson’s Jasper Hale in “Twilight” and “New Moon,” his background is explored much more in “Eclipse.” “I’m excited for a step up with Jasper’s character,” Jackson said. “It’s been two, three years and now I get to kind of go outside and show a little bit more of what makes Jasper tick. We get to go into his back story — see where he came from, who he was before, what makes him who we see in the first film of ‘Twilight,’ what makes him seem like he’s always in pain, why he’s always in pain … because he is.”

So why, exactly, is he in so much agony? “He’s almost depressed,” Jackson said. “He wants to live a good life. He wants to be part of the Cullen family. He is the newest to this vegetarian vampire way of life, and he’s still trying to be part of that and address his inner demons and what he used to be. It was really fun to be able to express that.”

Twilight: The Humans Point of View, Utah Signing

utahsigningThe Utah blog In This Week had the chance to interview Justin Chon, Mike Welch, and Christian Serratos before the Salt Lake City DVD release and signing.

“The priority for me was to first and foremost please the fanbase. How do you do that? You capture what Stephenie created to the best of your ability. So having Stephenie on set was an enormous help. Her approval meant more to me than anything. If she likes what you are doing with the character she created, you are on the right track. I respect film critics in what they do, but with what that said, and particularly in this case, I think that this franchise is accomplishing what it set out to do, which is to please the fans, ” Welch says.

Jackson Rathbone Compares Twilight and Dread

jacksonrathbonedreadJackson Rathbone is a pretty busy guy he has Eclipse, The Last Airbender coming out this year. Dread hitting DVD. He filmed the indie feature The Girlfriend which also features 100 Monkeys music, and then there’s the 100 City Tour he’s on with the band 100 Monkeys. He also is rumored to just have landed a role in Truckstop, and then there’s Breaking Dawn which, given his schedule, is probably good that it’s not a Jasper heavy book!

MTV caught up with Jackson (although we aren’t sure how given his busy schedule) and talked to him about Dread and Twilight.

“Despite the fact that “Twilight” isn’t really a scary movie, Rathbone said there are similarities between “Twilight” and “Dread.” “One of the things I like is when different worlds collide. With the ‘Twilight’ films, you have the horror element of the vampire, but it becomes more of a romantic action film with the vampire falling in love with the girl. With ‘Dread’ it’s kind of the same thing. Clive Barker’s world is usually more of a mythical gothic world, but ‘Dread’ is more of a personalized psychological thriller instead of a horror. It has the horror elements, but it’s much more of a person-to-person drama.”

The Host Goes Paperback With Bonus Chapter

TheHostPBStephenie Meyer updated her website with this announcement:

“Good news: The Host paperback is now available for pre-order. I have just heard from the publishing company that the paperback release will have a Reading Group Guide that includes the following:

* New, never-before-published “bonus chapter”
* An interview with Stephenie
* Discussion topics and questions
* Stephenie’s annotated playlist”

EDITED: We asked about the bonus chapter and this is what we were told, “The bonus chapter is something Stephenie wrote when she was working with the film producers – it was a scene that Stephenie always had in her head, but it couldn’t appear in the book because her narrator was unconscious at the time.  The “omitted” chapter would, chronology-wise, fall in between Chapter 58 and 59 of The Host. “

The official press release from Hachette Publishers reads:

“Startling and addictive…. An epic story of love, family, and loyalty.” –USA Today
