“Rounding out the top five are Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the Twilight movies. While romance might take a backseat to action in many of the movies on our list, it’s the driving force in the Twilight films. The last book, Breaking Dawn, has been divided into two movies. The first will hit theaters this coming November.”

Producer Wyck Godfrey Spills Breaking Dawn Details to USA Today

USA today sat down with Twilight Saga producer, Wyck Godfrey, and asked the questions that many of us want answers to:

Q: Where does the story split in half?

A: “We basically want to take the audience through the emotional part of Bella’s journey as she becomes a vampire. The first part will cover the wedding, the honeymoon and the birth.” The film ends just before she embarks on her supernatural transformation.

Q: The book has three segments, two of which present Bella’s point of view and a middle that’s devoted to the perspective of her rejected werewolf suitor, Jacob (Taylor Lautner). How is that handled?

A: “The story will break from her and follow Jacob throughout the course of the movie as he struggles with his own dilemma. There is a sense that as Bella and the Cullens (Edward’s makeshift vampire clan) deal with her pregnancy, the world is still turning outside with Jacob.”

Q: Why was Bill Condon, the Oscar-winning filmmaker best known for his musicals as the screenwriter of 2002′s Chicagoand the director of 2006′s Dreamgirls, selected as the director of the finale?

A: “These films have the most difficult stuff from a performance standpoint. With his history of directing, I can’t think of anyone who would be better at bringing out the best in an actor.” Plus, the director, who did the 1995 sequel to Candyman, is a fright-fare enthusiast. “He has an appetite for the genre and a passion for the Twilight books and movies.”

Q: Considering what goes on during the torturous birth process, how can the rating be PG-13?

A: With Twilight‘s core of under-18 fans, “it would be a crime against our audience to go R-rated.” However, “this is based on a much more mature book. We need to progress and be more sophisticated.”

A compromise: Having the bloody, bone-crushing delivery be seen only through Bella’s eyes. “She is looking through the haze, experiencing pain and everything rushing around her. We only see what she sees.”

We were able to talk to Wyck at the Eclipse premiere where he hinted that he and Stephenie will be doing other projects.

Giveaway Time: Prom and Prejudice by Elizabeth Eulberg and Lost in Austen

Elizabeth Eulberg is probably someone that many of you have met over they years, but you don’t realize it. She is Stephenie Meyer’s publicist who set up hundreds of events, has laid out thousands of books to be signed, etc. Well last year Elizabeth was a published author herself with her debut novel, Lonely Hearts Club (which we found out about on a Google alert because Elizabeth was too modest to tell us!) This year, Elizabeth’s next novel has just come out. It’s called Prom and Prejudice and it’s an updated retelling of the classic Jane Austen Novel.

We are total Jane Austen addicts around here. Lori and Laura have read more Jane Austen fanfic than they can possibly remember. They can also recite many of the Austen novels by heart, and critique every move adaptation…they have seen them all. If you want an earful, just ask them about the pig incident when they saw the Kiera Knightly version together.

Laura read Prom and Prejudice in one morning on her Kindle because she couldn’t put it down. (Shhh don’t tell Elizabeth, but Laura thought she would hate it because she’s read soooooo many crappy, updated versions of Pride and Prejudice. She was worried about coming up with euphemisms that didn’t divulge her dismay. Fortunately, they were not necessary since she loved the book!)

Publishers Weekly just interviewed Elizabeth about this new book:

Have you long aspired to write fiction?

I remember always telling myself stories when I was little. And when I moved to New York fresh out of college, I started to write a book in my head about that experience. But I never thought of actually writing a book—I think because I’m too practical. When I started working in publishing, I became more hesitant to write, since I was surrounded by so many amazing authors. So I put off doing it. Then one night, while I was still at Scholastic, I was having dinner with Dav Pilkey and he said, “You really should write a book,” and he wouldn’t let me forget about it, which I thank him for.
When you finally decided to tackle a novel, why did you choose to write for teens?
In publishing, I’ve always worked in that world and mostly read YA novels. Also I remember being in high school so well. It’s a time in your life that you’re figuring out a lot of things, including who you are. It’s a time that’s ripe for drama. And teen readers are the sweetest ever. They really get into a book. I’ve received some really amazing letters from readers and find this a great audience to talk to.

What led you to revisit Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice—is that novel a particular favorite of yours?

My mother was a school librarian, so I grew up with someone who loved books—in fact I was named after Beth in Little Women and I have a sister named Meg. Books were always a big part of my life and I’ve always loved Jane Austen. I think she’s one of the greatest novelists of all time. It’s amazing that she wrote Pride and Prejudice almost 200 years ago and it still resonates today.

I was having a conversation with a friend about the novel, and we talked about how it is a story that fits in well with current times and has influenced popular culture—think of Bridget Jones’s Diary and the Bollywood movie Bride and Prejudice. I began thinking about how it might be retold with teenage characters, though I was a bit nervous about doing a modern retelling of one of the most classic works of all times—no pressure there!”

Well to celebrate Elizabeth’s book and to do a thank you for all the help she’s given us over the years, we thought we’d do a giveaway.

We will send one lucky person an autographed copy of Prom and Prejudice and a copy of one of our very favorite Jane Austen films, Lost in Austen. You can be anywhere in the world to win, but be advised that we only have DVD versions that are for the USA and Europe (AKA regions 1 and 2)

So just put a comment in the box about what you love about Jane Austen or Elizabeth and we’ll pick out a random winner on Sunday at 11:59pm eastern.

Site Update

We have the first of what will be many site updates over the next few weeks.  I’m sorry that it’s taken so long to get all the information posted.  This was my (Alphie’s) job and with both of my parents being hospitalized, the Christmas holiday, and a family vacation, I just was over swamped!  I hope you can forgive me as I did intend for all of this to be posted by the end of 2010.

As it is, Anny and Lady Di have worked their fingers off to get these bios done!  I will probably post an update every couple of days until they are all posted.  Today we will start off with the Denali clan.  All the bios were prepared by Anny and I used the photos of the actors  sent in by Adonis until we have official photos from the film.  I hope you enjoy them!

Where to Spot Twilight Stars in Awards Shows in 2011

It’s Awards Season, and the People’s Choice Awards just kicked things off last night.  Here is a list on where you can expect to see Twilight cast members in the near future.

Golden Globe Awards: Robert Pattinson has been tapped as a presenter, no idea for what, but he’s on the list of those attending. According to the official site , “The show once again will be broadcast nationwide live on NBC, in HD, Sunday, January 16, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 (PST)/8:00-11:00 (EST) from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. ” Expect more presenters to be announced as we get closer to the show.

BAFTA Awards (AKA the British Academy Film and Television Awards). Last year Kristen Stewart won their Rising Star Award. It’s traditional for the previous year’s winner to present the trophy to this year’s winner. It hasn’t been officially announced(BAFTAs tend not to announce their presenters, but the info kind of leaks out) , but look for Kristen to make an appearance.  They also tend to try for the brightest stars from the UK to present on the show. Look for Robert Pattinson (who presented an award last year) and Michael Sheen as strong candidates for presenters. Another BAFTA possibility is Welcome to the Riley’s director, Jake Scott, getting nominated in the Outstanding Debut of a British Writer, Director, or Producer category. The show takes place February 13th, look for award nominees to be announced on January 18th.

The Oscars last year Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner co-presented as part of producer Adam Shankman’s efforts to youthenize the show and make it more fun.  With a film like Water for Elephants (that is getting early buzz as 2012 contender) coming out next year that co-star OSCAR winners Christoph Waltz and Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson might end up as a co-presenter. Another one to look out for is last year’s nominee Anna Kendrick to be tapped as a presenter. The show airs February 27th, and nominees will be announced on January 25th.

These are just the awards in the winter. Once Spring and Summer hit we enter the MTV award season: VMA’s, Movie Awards, etc. You know there will be a heavy cast presence there beyond the trio of Robert Kristen and Taylor.
