The Twilight Saga Makes Lists Galore!

t’s in inevitable that just before Christmas each year top ten lists come out. This year because the decade is turning their are decade lists on top of the yearly lists. We’ve already covered Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner making their MTV Woman/Man of the Year lists, Taylor Lautner being named Moviefone’s Entertainer of the Year, and the Twilight Saga books and Stephenie Meyer being named author of the decade by the Baltimore Sun. Now the actors and the books are hitting several others.

Guinness Book of World Records: “Twilight, which is growing into a massive franchise, received the record for Highest-Grossing Movie by a Female Director – Catherine Hardwicke.”

Amazon.Com: Top selling books and top selling author of the decade.  The books come in at  3. Breaking Dawn , 4. Twilight, 5. Eclipse, 7. New Moon. Stephenie Meyer comes in at number 2.  It’s interesting to note that the DVD of Twilight didn’t make the cut. Given the possibility of three more movies on the horizon, the DVD will probably make the cut next decade.

Time Magazine: People Who Mattered: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. In summing up why they made the list, Time states, “They’re also not generically beautiful. God knows they’re hot enough, but they look interesting too. Intelligent. Slightly askew. You don’t just want to look at them or sleep with them; you want to talk to them. Like the vampire Pattinson plays onscreen, you can see that once upon a time they were merely human, just like us.” They are number 15 on the list. You can vote for Rob and Kristen and voice whether you think as newsmakers they should be considered higher or lower.

MTV Man of the Year

Both Taylor Lautner and Robert pattinson have made MTV’s Man of the Year list.  Rob came in at number 6  and Taylor in at number 4.

In talking about Rob’s wild year MTV stated, “We all know Rob had a busy 2009, and everybody had their own thoughts on what he should do after “Twilight.” Few saw his first move coming, however, as he dropped out of the indie flick “Parts Per Billion,” leaving producer/star Rosario Dawson sad but promising the show would go on. In February, he showed up at the Oscars and stole attention away from stars as big as Brad and Angelina. Despite expressing fears that he might become “Twilighted out” while shooting “New Moon” and “Eclipse” back-to-back, he nevertheless got back to work as Edward Cullen”

As far as Taylor went, MTV said “As the calendar page turned to 2009, there were few entertainment stories as compelling as Taylor Lautner’s crusade to convince the “Twilight” powers-that-be to employ his buff new bod for “New Moon,” with co-stars like Ashley Greene, Elizabeth Reaser and Kristen Stewart among those firmly in his corner. The 17-year-old “Twilight” star spoke extensively about his dedication to the material and his workout regime, which delighted fans and convinced Chris Weitz that his casting search for Jacob was over before it really began.”

Twilight Stars Ebay for Charity

Would you like a guitar signed by Robert Pattinson for Christmas? Well, if you put in the winning bid on Ebay it could be yours, and even better the money goes towards helping the homeless.

“Brand new Fender Telecaster signed by ultra hot Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) from the Twilight movie series. Rob happened to be shopping for instruments at Norm’s Rare Guitars and Norm (a great friend of The Midnight Mission), asked him if he’d sign a guitar that could be auctioned off to support the services of the charity. Rob was gracious enough to say yes and do it. This terrifically talented actor and singer/musician even consented to have his picture taken with the signed instrument. I didn’t post it here, but have it available for authentication (believe it or not this humble actor is a bit camera shy when not at work). Get this now!! I have seen tons of signed pictures and posters, but not a Fender guitar. And as you real fans know, Robert is an excellent musician – he plays piano, guitar and sings! So it’s a winner – a great and unique gift for you or someone you love and you help people who don’t always feel loved.”

Now how would you like to have your own private conversation with one of the actors? You can do that with Rachelle LeFevre if you have the winning bid on Ebay. Rachelle is a great animal lover, and the money goes towards helping Best Friends, a charity that looks to place homeless pets and seeks the humane treatment of animals.

Rachel Weisz: Movie With Robert Pattinson May Not Happen

You’d think that New Moon being as successful as it is and Robert Pattinson being a HUGE part of that success would be incentive enough for people to back Robert’s next project, especially when it is written by Madeline Stowe and co-stars Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman and winner Rachel Weisz. Not so, according to MTV:

“It’s an independent movie, and they are raising the money, so hopefully it’ll happen,” Weisz said of the flick, which will mark the writing and directing debut of veteran actress Madeline Stowe. “I don’t know if it will [be made], but yeah, I’m very excited.

“It’s a great screenplay, and [Pattinson and Jackman] are both great actors,” Weisz added of why she is attached to the film. “I like to work with all kinds of talented people, whatever the age.”

Please Don’t Kiss The Cardboard

It seems that a cardboard cutout of Robert Pattinson is giving health authorities cause for concern. Too many people kissing Rob vicariously might lead to swine flu. Digital Spy explains:

The Sunday Telegraph reports that employees have now placed a notice on the cutout which reads: “Please help reduce the spread of germs by refraining from giving Edward, or any other character for that matter, a kiss or a hug.”

Rob’s cutout is not the only one to cause problems. It seems that Taylor Lautner cutouts in Burger King restaurants are being hoisted at an alarming rate. Several stores in the chain have had to replace their cutout multiple times.

Twilight Saga Stars Other Projects on the Horizon

So out of these, which one are you looking forward to the most?

Jackson Rathbone in Dread.

“Rathbone describes Dread as a Kinsey-esque study of fear. “It has those base elements: What are you afraid of? Why are those urban legends urban legends? Why are they told over and over again? Because, those ideas are scary. There have been many documented cases of a complete stranger murdering many people and getting away with it and no one ever knowing why. It’s very rare that you’ll find a film or a piece of literature that delves into the mind of someone that’s been affected by that and what they do to get over it. We all have something in our lives that causes that dread, that inspired it and that’s kind of what we’re trying to get to the root of in this film. Barker’s story did it with such lyrical prose. It’s just beautiful and the imagery is haunting, it really is. We filmed scenes that just made a lot of people sick. Not just because of the gruesome element, but the idea of those situations where you’re like, ‘Yeah, if I was in that situation what would I do?’ And you know what you do a lot of times and you just wouldn’t ever want to think about it.”

Anna Kendrick in Up In The Air

“Q: What did you enjoy most about your character, Natalie?

Anna: I love that she’s unapologetically ambitious. I don’t have that and I wouldn’t really want that for myself, but I admire it so much, in her. I love that she’s independent and strong. I know that the audience really falls for her, after she completely melts down, and I love her even when she’s in her bratty mode. There was almost a desire for me to not show as much as Jason [Reitman] wanted me to show, and keep her protected and not give as much away because I feel protective of her and I wanted her to maintain her dignity. I love her, even when she’s a nightmare… I think she’s a control freak, and I think I’m a control freak, but we react to being out of our element in very different ways. I get more awkward and I fumble and things immediately fall apart. And, Natalie’s rigidity and self-awareness increases exponentially, when she feels out of control. She tries to cling to anything that she can control or keep orderly, whether it’s her hair or her computer. It makes for some very interesting comedy.”
