Meet Mackenzie Foy

Mackenzie Foy plays Renesmee in Breaking Dawn part 2. She sounds like she’s a really well-adjusted kid who is talented.

According to EW

Foy grew up outside of Los Angeles and has been working steadily — she booked her first gig, modeling for Ralph Lauren at the age of 3 — modeling, appearing in commercials, and acting on TV shows such as ‘Til Death, Hawaii Five-O, and Flashforward. She picked up some new skills while shooting Breaking Dawn, thanks to her famous costars. Taylor Lautner taught her how to throw a football and Kristen Stewart gave her tips on summoning tears onscreen. (“She said to think of something sad for a very long time.”)

The actress, who is homeschooled, just completed fifth grade. She says hopes to continue being an actress — and eventually a director — for the rest of her life. But in the near future?  ”I’m going to swim and eat popsicles.”

Here is how much Bill Condon liked her in a question that Laura asked last year.

One of my favorite movies is Jerry Maguire with the line, “You had me at ‘hello’”. Was there anybody in that casting process that maybe you didn’t know and then you were just like, “Whoa, you had me at ‘hello’!” Who was your—

BC: You know who? Mackenzie Phillips. I mean—Foy…Mackenzie.

(laughter)

BC: She’s a perfect, perfect—yeah, [inaudible] Mackenzie Foy. Mackenzie Foy was like, wow that’s it. She looks like their daughter and there’s just a quality she had, you know. I mean and it was such a relief because Renesmee was so tough to picture and imagine, you know? So I have to say she was just like, I think we’ve got it right there ‘cause it’s possible. And then I showed her to everybody else and everybody agreed.

This video is a really good example of her just being a kid.

MyAnna Buring Talks Twilight Opening Doors

MyAnna Buring, who plays Tanya, talks about her training (it takes works) and what the Twilight opportunity has meant with Ideas Tap

You studied at LAMDA. Do you think you could have had your career without going to drama school?

I think drama schools are great; it’s fantastic to take three years to figure things out, especially when you’re young. If you’re 18, it’s as much about learning to live alone as it is about learning your craft.

It’s also useful in an industry way – you know that agents are going to come see your shows. I got my first agent through drama school, although I’m now on my third. It can take a few tries to find the perfect person.

Did you notice a change in the kind of parts you were being offered after Twilight?

Two things happened; I did Kill List, which was a micro-mini budget project, but it got a really great response in the UK. I then got Twilight, while I was doing Kill List. They came out within two months of each other, and the combination had a massive difference. Twilight meant I was attached to a big franchise, which opened doors, and Kill List was one of the first opportunities I had to really get my teeth into a rounded, three-dimensional part.

I get to audition for things that I wouldn’t have even got into the room for, three years ago.

Robert Pattinson Not Fond of His Madam Tussauds Likeness

Robert Pattinsom talks to the Metro about Cosmopolis, fame, and Twilight:

“…He was literally replaced when Madam Tussauds gave him a waxwork. A really, really terrible waxwork. ‘It looks like Hugh Jackman,’ he exclaims. ‘I think it IS Hugh Jackman – they’ve just smushed it in a bit.’ Or maybe it’s the inner Pattinson, the one who feels melted by the Twi-light. ‘If you get famous, you can really buy into it, then you go nuts. But I never really felt comfortable going, “Yes, I’m famous!” I don’t know why.’

On November 16, the final Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn Part II, will be released – and so will Pattinson, he hopes, from the hysteria of Stephenie Meyer’s teen saga.

Can he give us a reason to watch it? ‘It’s really funny, the last one,’ he chuckles. ‘I mean, funny and completely insane. There’s Jacob is falling in love with my daughter, who grows into an 11-year-old in three months! There were so many scenes where it felt so bizarre.’

Team Ian or Team Jared: Which Are You?

With new photos of The Host recently out, we’re curious which is your favorite character. They each in their own way (unlike Edward and Jacob) “get the girl”, so which one do you like better as a character?

Q & A With Jake Abel: Ian in The Host

EW talked with Jake Abel who plays Ian in The Host.

When you signed on to the film, were you the kind of actor who, if you hadn’t read the book, you devoured it, or did you want to stay away from it so you built your own character?

This is my fourth or fifth film that’s been an adaptation of a book, and I hate to admit it, but this is the first one I’d read before filming the movie. Usually I kind of keep the script [as] the bible and base everything off of that. But I think Stephenie probably had a big hand in Andrew’s adaptation of her book. I knew that they were going to try to keep as close as possible and I knew the book would give me much more backstory — just because of the capacity a book can hold — than the script could give me. So I did just crash through the book in a few days. I learned some stuff, and then some stuff changed in the movie, and it all came together, and I was really happy with what we came up with for Ian.

I know Stephenie Meyer was on the set a fair amount. What was that like, knowing that you were interpreting something that had lived in her head for so long?

The thing about Stephenie is that she’s highly collaborative. If you have ideas — and we had ideas about the sequels [to the book] — she was like, “Tell me! Tell me!” There were a couple of times I was like, “How ’bout this?” And she was like, “Well, I’ll think about it.” And that’s always so relieving as an actor, because we all want to bring something to the table, and we all understand that the film we’re making is the writer’s baby. There’s parts of you that want to honor their vision. There’s parts of you that have your own vision. And she welcomes that process with open arms. I got her blessing early on with what I was wanting to do with him, and because of that I was able to not think about it so much. She’s kind of the ghost on set anyway. Unless you go find her and have a conversation, she’s not coming up to you to give you notes or change your performance. She’s really, really great about that.
