Jon Lewis: Twilight, Project Book Babe, and His New Book
Back in spring 2009, you might remember that the Lexicon as well as other Twilight sites that were in operation then hyped up an event called Save the Book Babe. The event was to raise funds for Faith Hochhalter, a former YA book buyer at Changing Hands bookstore in the Phoenix area, who was fighting breast cancer. Faith was instrumental in supporting many YA authors and in particular Twilight. Aside from signings and promotions, among events that would not have come off without Faith’s help was the Eclipse Prom in May 2007.
One of the major organizers of the event was author Jon Lewis (J.S. Lewis) known to many as the author of the Grey Griffins series (pictured above at the Save the Book Babe event). Jon acted as the emcee that day and he was hilarious, kept the show fun and interesting. At the time I told him that if he books are half as entertaining as he is then my son would love reading them, which turned out to be true.
So, where is this all going? Jon is updating us on Faith, the future of Project Book Babe (right now Book Babe is auctioning on Ebay some left over stock. It’s a great time to get Stephenie Meyer signed items and to support breast cancer research!), and an exciting new series he has coming out. After our interview with Jon, leave us a comment and a random person will receive a prize pack donated by Jon. It includes:
- A copy of his most recent novel in the Grey Griffins series that Jon describes as “The series is a continuation of our GREY GRIFFINS books from Scholastic, but it’s an all new trilogy — same main characters, new school, more exciting adventures.”
- A signed Book Babe poster by with autographs from the attending authors such as Stephenie Meyer, Shannon Hale, Jon and more.
- A Bella and Edward action figure.
What drew you to writing and writing in your particular genre?
Growing up, I thought I was either going to work for Disney as a character animator or for Marvel or DC as a comic book illustrator. But I realized early on that in order to draw a story, you actually need a story and I ended up liking the storytelling more than drawing. As to genre, I actually love all kinds of stories. But I started with middle grade because (as my wife will attest) when I look in the mirror I still see a ten year old kid. I could live in Toys R Us and never get bored, and I still get excited when I see one of the characters walking around Disneyland.

Peter Facinelli Teams Up With Master Card and Home Depot
According to Master Card, “Peter Facinelli, eco-friendly actor most known for his roles in Twilight and Nurse Jackie, teamed up with MasterCard and The Home Depot to share tips on how anyone can be more environmentally friendly. During the month of October, Home Depot consumers who use their MasterCard now through October 31 to buy ENERGY STAR appliances — refrigerators, clothes washers, dishwashers, dehumidifiers, water heaters — 10 percent of the proceeds from those purchases will benefit Habitat for Humanity, up to 1 million dollars.”
James Gandolfini, Not a Twilight Fan, and That’s OK.
In talking with the NY Times, James Gandolfini, gave a great comment on the Twilight Series. Jim for years played the iconic Tony Soprano on the Sopranos. Every time he did a new project, inevitably the interviewer would ask a Sopranos question. In a way it kind of parallels how no matter what other project they are doing the Twilight cast members always get asked Twilight questions. Not only that, their co-stars get asked Twilight questions. Well Jim in his typical no BS style answered the Twilight question proving that sometimes Twilight just doesn’t matter, and it’s OK not to be on the Twilight bandwagon (he stars with Kristen Stewart in Welcome to the Rileys)
“Q. So, are you a big fan of “Twilight”?
A. Actually I’ve never seen it.
Q. Did you tell Kristen that?
A. Well, she didn’t ask. I don’t think she watched “Sopranos” much.”

It’s actually kind of refreshing not to see someone just gratuitously become a fan with no other connection. what do you think?
Robert Pattinson Never Turned Down Simon Cowell
This is the rumor that won’t die. Apparently the Sun (you remember the paper that has at various times reported that Rob and Kristen were married, pregnant, Kristen was seeing Tom Sturridge…need I go on) reported that Robert Pattinson had a discussion with the UK’s biggest music promoter, Simon Cowell. Yes that Simon Cowell of American Idol fame.
Wild surprise, we know, MTV checked out the story with Robert Pattinson’s manager and was told that there is no truth to the story. In fact the two have had no discussion at all.
“However, when MTV News reached out to Robert’s management for comment, we were told there was no truth to this story. It’s just “another headline generated by the internet,” his manager wrote in an email.”
Despite MTV’s Hollywood Crush debunking the rumor over 24 hours ago, that hasn’t stopped some major media from picking up on the story and incorrectly reporting it.

Variety: Michael Sheen Is Signed For Breaking Dawn
Yesterday we got hit with a bunch of emails from people thinking Michael Sheen wasn’t coming back for Breaking Dawn. We’re not really sure how that one got started. In any case, Variety (that has an excellent industry reputation) confirms that Michael is in fact onboard with Breaking Dawn.
“Michael Sheen is returning as a vampire leader in Summit’s “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.”
The British thesp closed his deal with the studio to reprise his turn as Aro, the leader of the vampire royalty Volturi…Sheen’s upcoming credits include Disney’s “Tron” and “Beautiful Boy” opposite Maria Bello, Woody Allen’s romantic comedy “Midnight in Paris,” and “Jesus Henry Christ” opposite Toni Collette. He will return to the stage next year starring in “Hamlet,” which will premiere at the Young Vic in London.”

The other members of the other members of the Volturi should be making a reappearance as well. In all likelihood, since their parts don’t film right away, they are just fine tuning contracts which is pretty typical.
MTV’s The Buried Life Rob’s Hair Episode Online
Last night, MTV’s The Buried Life, was all about obtaining a lock of Robert Pattinson’s hair. If you aren’t familiar with The Buried Life, it’s like a bucket list of sorts for 20 somethings.
So what did you think of the pursuit of Rob’s hair? How do you think Rob took it?
UK’s Sky Movies Interviews The Trio
All three movies are about to hit the telly in the UK, so Sky Movies did an interview with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner.
“SMM: How have your characters changed as the movies progress?
RP: When I first read the books, I was like… I can’t play this. This is impossible. But I’ve tried the entire time to make [Edward] the perfect underdog. No matter what anyone says to him, no matter what heroic deeds he does, it’s impossible to convince him that he’s done anything right. And the only thing that has made him feel alive – feel anything – is Bella.
TL: In New Moon, I was kind of playing a split personality; for the first half I was the old Jacob and then the second half, I was the new Jacob. For Eclipse, Jacob has matured and he’s a little more serious because he knows what he’s dealing with now, which was definitely emotionally challenging. That’s why Eclipse is my favourite movie, because everything that’s great about this franchise – the romance, the action, the danger, the suspense, everything – Eclipse takes to a whole other level. It’s the height of the love triangle – Bella is being torn between these two guys who are literally fighting for her.
KS: Well, in Breaking Dawn, Bella becomes a wife. She becomes a mother. Luckily I’ve played the character for a while. If Breaking Dawn was its own movie, it would be much more difficult to play such a young wife and mother, but because I have been with her since she was 17, it’s been a progression. I think that’s what’s so cool about the series. It takes her a long time to get to that point and she loses a lot and then gets it back. I think to make decisions like that you have to really know yourself and trust yourself and she achieves that. She’s very straight up and honest about everything and I’m excited because I know the guys so well and we’ve all taken this journey together.”
