Charlie Bewley Raises $20,000 In Run For Your Life

We’ve been telling you about Charlie Bewley running an ultra marathon to raise money to fight cancer. The Vancouver Sun covered the race that took place on Sunday:

“Actor Charlie Bewley, who raised $20,000 by running in the Bank of Montreal Vancouver marathon Sunday morning, had tears in his eyes as he crossed the finish line, a marathon spokeswoman said.

Deirdre Rowland said the funds raised by Bewley will go to the hospital that helped care for his friend Jocelyn Clarke, a local stunt double, who died of cancer in February.

The money raised by Bewley, who plays the vampire Demetri in the Twilight movie series, will go to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.

The marathon raises an estimated $40,000 a year for five different charities.”

Jamie Campbell-Bower Carrying a Large Torch in Breaking Dawn

Jamie Campbell Bower told Zap-It about one of the downsides to playing Caius:

“I have this big, flaming torch in the last movie,” Campbell Bower tells Zap2it, “and it was one of those things you look at on the first day and you think, ‘Yeah, I am going to be so badass with this!’ — and by the end of filming, it was, ‘God, I HATE this thing, I never want to see it ever again!’

“That torch was just so heavy it was ridiculous, and I had been holding Excalibur for the past six months of ‘Camelot,’ so my arm was getting bigger, but that big bronze torch must have weighed, I don’t know, 400 pounds or something. I was glad to be rid of it.

“I’ll let the fans have that one, because they love that kind of stuff.”

Alex Meraz: City of Gardens Trailer

The official description from the movie’s press is:

“City of Gardens, is the true story of a blond Californian surfer, Wayne Montgomery (John Robinson), who has relocated to exotic Lima, Peru in the 1980’s to pursue surfing as he teaches English to well-to-do kids. Wayne’s carefree lifestyle and romance with his beautiful girlfriend, Maritza, (introducing Anahi De Cardenas), ends when he is framed for drug possession during the political chaos engulfing Lima.

In the nightmarish prison El Sexto (made famous by Nobel-Prize winner Mario Vargas Llosa in The City and the Dogs), Wayne finds himself surrounded by a group of political activists and social misfits, including a schizophrenic who believes he is Jesus Christ (Grant Bowler) and an Icelandic devotee of Krishna, Jorge (Johnny Lewis). Wayne is forced to share a mattress with Nicaragua (Alex Meraz) he most hated prisoner at El Sexto. Unlike the rest of the inmates (political prisoners) Nicaragua is a real criminal, the scum of humanity. There is instant dislike and animosity between Wayne and Nicaragua.

In a desperate attempt to gain freedom, Wayne meets with US Consul Powers (Debra Unger) whose hands are tied by the false drug charges. As Wayne’s naivety dissipates, another nemesis, the power-hungry Lt. Gutierrez (Michael DeLorenzo), moves to break Wayne´s spirit, torturing him to extort money from his family, whom he has found out lives in Beverly Hills and rightly assumes to be wealthy. Left with few options, Wayne adopts a new ethic – engaging the Peruvian activists, sharing his gifts with them and learning the importance of faith through his sympathetic friend, Jorge. Wayne challenges Lt. Gutierrez’s authority, confronting the depravity of corruption and abuse with his new found spirit and courage.

But Wayne’s hopes are short-lived as the brutality of an attack and murder sends the entire prison into a blood-bathed uprising that will ultimately leave Wayne fighting to hang on for dear life.”

Twilight Source Latest Podcast and Hypable

imprintlogo

Our friends over at Twilight Source have the latest edition of their Imprint Podcast up. They cover the recent photo leaks and they give a good rundown of the Twilight Guide pro and cons. Check out their podcast here.

They have also started a new site called Hypable. Here’s the description:

“We know you’re a fan of Twilight, but surely you’re a fan of other fandoms too?

Enter Hypable, a new entertainment site I’ve created with a few friends. Hypable is for fans, by fans and hopes to become your one-stop resource for your fandom news.

“The problem with most entertainment sites today is that they don’t cover every story in every fandom. What’s more, they usually post stories a day or two after the story breaks.

We at Hypable know that immediacy and thoroughness is important to you, and that’s why we promise that we’ll never miss a story for the fandoms we cover.

The best part is that Hypable will continue to evolve its covered fandoms as time goes on. We’ll always be there to bring you the fandom news you’re looking for!”

They are covering several fandoms from Hunger Games, to Glee, to Dr. Who. Check it out.

Charlie Bewley Gears Up To Run For His Life On Sunday

We’ve been telling you about Charlie Bewley running an ultra marathon to raise money for cancer research in memory of a departed friend. The Vancouver Sun interviewed Charlie as he makes final preparations to run this Sunday.

“Of course, he could have chosen to run just the marathon or the half marathon but he has opted to do both, which will add up to 63.3 kilometres. It’s the farthest he has ever run. “It’s something I’m not quite sure of. It’s a very dark place.”

He is looking forward to the challenge.

If his friend Clarke could live full throttle to the very end without flinching, he can run headlong into the biggest challenge of his running career.

“The reason I decided to run a larger marathon is I just don’t think a marathon is that difficult. I would run it very, very easily, not as if my life depended on it. I preferred to do something I didn’t know I could do.”

Michael Sheen Calls Young Fan

Michael Sheen has said in multiple interviews that he was inspired to do a modern passion play in his hometown of Port Talbot, Wales because of the theater that he was exposed to there as a young boy. The theater completely influenced his career choice. Well when a young fan got a little overwhelmed at the experience, Michael set things to rights:

“A LITTLE girl left in tears after watching Michael Sheen’s character being beaten up by guards during The Passion has been put at ease by the actor himself.

It was all a bit too much for Keava Evans when she saw some of the emotional and realistic scenes of the theatre production set in Port Talbot last weekend.

But the 7-year-old was not left upset for long, as the kindhearted actor made a special effort to speak to her on the phone to make sure she was OK.

Her grandmother Sandra McCalmon, of Southville Road, Sandfields, said she could not believe it when the Hollywood star was at the other end of the phone.”
