Peter Facinelli In Charity Poker Tournament

It’s no secret that Peter Facinelli is an avid poker player. He appeared on the program Celebrity Poker Showdown during the height of the Texas Hold ‘Em fad that swept the country a few years back.

He’s even organized a tournament with his wife, Jennie Garth to support the American Red Cross.

Well this weekend Peter is playing in a charity tournament organized by Jason Alexander, famous for Seinfeld and the director of Jackson Rathbone’s recent Criminal Minds episode. If you’re in the LA area why not show Peter your support and donate to a worthy cause.

Melissa Rosenberg Gives Thumbs Up to Slade

Melissa Rosenberg updated her Facebook page regarding Eclipse director David Slade.

“Finally got to spend some time with our new director for Eclipse, David Slade. And I gotta say, he’s great. Very smart, funny, creative. I already knew he was a really talented and visual filmmaker, but now I know he’s terrific to work with as well. Collaborative and, most important (from a writer’s point of view) smart about story, character and emotional arcs. He gets it. And he’s going to make Eclipse into a fantastic movie. So relax Eclipse fans! We’re in good hands.”

Little Ashes:Not a Critic Favorite

Well whether it’s the New York, LA, or London Times, Little Ashes does not seem to delight critics. They only thing they seemed to delight in regarding the movie were some really snarky one-liners about the merits (or lack thereof) of the film.

Reelz Channel summed up some of the more unique commentary here.

You can’t will them all, at least How To Be (which will be on On Demand in June–ty Jenny)was better received. If you are a How To Be fan you can snag some wallpapers over at Twilight UK.

Catherine Hardwicke To Receive Award

According to the Hollywood reporter Catherine Hardwicke is among good company including Jennifer Aniston, Holly Hunter, and Elizabeth Banks. All of these women are to receive recognition from Women in Film (WIF).

“Women in Film is thrilled to honor these extraordinarily versatile women who truly represent the new paradigm of Hollywood,” WIF/LA president Jane Fleming said. “Each of them has succeeded wildly by having the courage to work in all areas of the entertainment industry, transitioning between film and television, comedy and drama, studio and independent projects, both in front of and behind the camera.”

Twilight Dollars Taking a Slight Dip

Starting summer 2008 largely fueled by the Breaking Dawn release and the Twilight filming, licensed merchandise drove in record sales even in this slumping economy for Hot Topic, Borders, and others. This week the Blu-ray went into wide release including the delux collectors edition.

Given that the Twilight movie came out in November, it had to happen sometime. Sales look like they are finally falling off on the Twilight merchandising craze that started just a little more than a year ago.

According to Forbes:

Hot Topic has escaped much of the sales turmoil other retailers have faced amid the consumer spending drop-off. But analysts have speculated that much of the retailer’s sales outperformance is temporary due to the apparel license for the “Twilight” movie.

In a recorded sales call, the company said “Twilight” merchandise had less prominence in Hot Topic stores and thus fell “considerably” as a percentage of the total business.”

Hot Topic isn’t alone.  Warner music, who put out the soundtrack,  is also feeling the pinch.

“The world’s third largest music company posted a net loss of $68 million, or 45 cents a share in its fiscal second quarter ended March 31 compared with a year-earlier loss of $37 million, or 25 cents a share.”

Could it be that the Twilight merchandising has finally met its saturation point, or are people just taking a breather until New Moon hits?

Anyway for a bit of shameless commercialism on our part, check out the Lexicon shop (a few featured designs in this post).  It’s a little too later for Mother’s Day merchandise on time arrival, but gift certificates are always an option. If you have a Twi-Guy start thinking ahead for Father’s Day.

What Makes Twilight Accessible?

The Deadbolt does a run down of just what make the Twilight Saga so accessible and relatable to so many people:

“Why has the Stephenie Meyer based Twilight Saga become such a global phenomenon? Why have so many female fans flocked to the town of Forks in the Twilight setting? Based on the volume of Twilight related articles hitting the internet and the levels of online Twilight and New Moon discussion, it’s obvious the Twilight franchise is the most popular big screen adaptation series out there.”

They come up four key reasons to answer this question. Do you agree?

Special Edition Twilight Saga Books & Journals

Stating this summer, several new Twilight-based products will be offered. Entertainment weekly got the full scoop. There will be journals, a CD containing the Breaking Dawn concert Series and more.

Now for those of you who have been wondering if there would be a New Moon movie book, October 6th is the date that you want to mark on your calendars.  “For those hoping to buy books tied into New Moon, Little, Brown will release New Moon: The Complete Illustrated Movie Companion on Oct. 6″

Ashley Greene Talks Vancouver Experience With OK

OK Magazine caught up with Ashley Greene. Ashley summed up the Vancouver filming experience and supported her castmates.

OK!: How do you spend time off the set?
Ashley:There’s a street in Vancouver called Robson, where we jam with people who play instruments. I’m going to take up guitar, because Jackson [Rathbone], Nikki [Reed], Kristen [Stewart] and Rob [Pattinson] all play guitar and sing.”

Paramore Talks Twilight & More On EW

EW talked with Paramore lead singer, Hayley Williams about how the group got on the soundtrack, the new demographics for teh band’s music, and their future plans.

EW: Oh, really? I thought from what I’ve read that [Twilight author] Stephanie Meyer sought you guys out and wanted you specifically to be on the soundtrack. But it’s more like you auditioned?
HW: Well I read the books, and when they were working on the soundtrack, I was finishing up the third book, Eclipse, and I was really into it. I thought this was a great art, a really good story, and really relatable, but I’m always into vampires and all that. So we were touring and writing and jamming out new things every day, and I was like, if they’re putting that soundtrack together this could be great, let’s figure out if we could be a part of it. So yeah, we kinda fought for it. And if you look at the rest of the album, it’s Muse and Iron and Wine and Linkin Park, which really isn’t our demographic.”
