When Impersonation Goes Too Far

For months we’ve been giving out information on Twitter accounts that are associated with members of the Twilight cast. The fact is that there are plenty of fakes out there. Peter Facinelli has even talked about how that is a problem for an actor because if their fans gets sucked in and that fake account says/does something hurtful, it leads to bad PR for the star in question.

Twitter is slowly addressing this problem by certifying accounts of high profile people like actors, politicians, musicians, etc. However they can only move so fast. The reality is, if a star is a really big name, they get verified almost right away. Lesser known stars take longer. Ashley Greene’s account was verified in three days.   If Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, or Kristen Stewart had twitter accounts there’s would also receive immediate verification like that, because they have that type of A-list media pull. Also, Peter Facinelli, who is probably the most Internet savvy actor, would mention it.

So why bring this up now? Well up until now it’s been limited to fake Tweets and MySpace/Facebook posts. Now it took a step further. It seems that a fake Ashley Greene account on Facebook granted an interview to Twilight Review. We covered this interview as did a wide variety of other sites. The result: Ashley was misrepresented. Ashley’s real staff let Twilight Review know exactly what is going on and now Ashley’s legal team is pursuing action.

So, fans beware! Here are some tips to spotting fakes:

1. The account only talks about Twilight. Real actors are involved in tons of projects. They mention them all. If the only industry item they mention is Twilight, something is up.

2. The Twilightthemovie website has a listing of the actors who are on social networking sites like MySpace. Use that as a verification tool.

3. A real star’s account wouldn’t “take a side in” a casting issue, or post leaked photos. It would be career suicide.

4.  A real account wouldn’t only post photos from official PR junkets, or paparazzi photos.

5. In the end, it’s common sense, but if you get fooled, don’t feel too bad. Gil Birmingham, Kiowa Gordon, and Charlie Bewley all got fooled at one point too.

Now while we are on the subject of fake info there is what we call the ongoing saga of what we like to call “Nobody Doesn’t Like Brenna Lee” (give us a shout out if you are old enough to remember the commercial & can sing the jingle).

We got punked about a year ago with a photo and story that Brenna Lee Roth was supposedly cast as a Volturi. We fell for it for about two days and then realized that we were had and said, “Hey, whoever punked us. Well done, you got us good.” and then we printed a retraction. Then come May, we get this email from a guy claiming to be Brenna Lee’s limo driver in Italy who says he’ll give us all the inside dish on Brenna Lee being in Italy and behind the scenes info. We didn’t fall for it a second time, and told the person “nice try but don’t quit your day job”. Well now, the Brenna Lee thing is back again, and this time it’s taking away from Tinsel’s Korey’s right to be listed for her hard work on the IMDB(what we’ve been saying for awhile now, the IMDB is like Wikipedia. If you have IMDB pro, $30 a month, you can edit info.). Tinsel’s name has been removed as Emily and Brenna Lee’s inserted.

Now we have no idea if this is actually someone associated with Brenna Lee doing this  or some random person with a bizarre sense of humor. We suspect it’s a random person because it just doesn’t seem rational that Brenna Lee or her people  would take away from a fellow artist’s right to be recognized.  The fact is that this makes Brenna Lee look bad, for something she probably didn’t even do and isn’t aware of.   The whole thing is not fair to Tinsel and not fair to Brenna.

IESB Interviews Jack Huston

Christina Radish from IESB snagged an interview with Jack Hutson, Royce King II, about his upcoming projects including Eclipse.

IESB: How did you get involved with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse? What is it like to become a part of that whole phenomenon?

Jack: I literally just got back last Saturday, from filming my last little bits on it. I went in for David Slade, who’s the director, for another part that was written as a 19-year-old freshman who’s blonde-haired and blue-eyed, which I knew I wasn’t. That couldn’t be less like me. But, I went in and took a very different spin on how the character was written, and went a little nuts in the room, and David and I really got along, so he said, “I wanna get you in this movie somewhere.” So, he called me up a couple weeks later and said, “There’s this other part. Would you like to do it?,” and he offered me that.”

Vanity Fair Interviews Ashley Greene

As part of their ongoing Twilight Watch series, Vanity Fair this week has interviewed Ashley Greene:

Your role as Alice Cullen becomes more significant as the series continues. What was your experience filming New Moon?

It was incredible, and I think the timing was right. I’m glad that [my role] wasn’t that big in the first one because I was wide-eyed and nervous. By the second one, I had the time to fully develop this character, and I’m really comfortable with Alice Cullen now. It’s going to be sad to be done with it. I was really excited when I read the script because I had, of course, read the book and you never know how they’re going to translate it, how it’s going to read, and filming it was great. Chris [Weitz, the director] was awesome.

Have you seen the finished film yet?

I got to see it a month ago. I’m really happy … I’m really excited about it. When we saw it, it was completely unfinished. It was one of the first cuts, and it looks really good. The first thing that went through my head was, “Oh my gosh, it’s beautiful!” The way that it’s shot … Javier, our D.P., he did such a beautiful job. We all look really, really good!

PEOPLE’ SPECIAL COLLECTOR’S EDITION:

TWILIGHT RETURNS…NEW MOON
Exclusive Interviews, Never-Before-Seen Photos, and Behind-the-Scenes Scoop

PLUS:   EXCLUSIVE ECLIPSE FIRST LOOK!

(NEW YORK) – This week, PEOPLE publishes a special newsstand-only issue all about the Twilight sequel New Moon.  The biggest day of the year for vampires is usually Halloween, but this fall it’s Nov. 20 – the debut of the film New Moon.  For those who can’t wait, PEOPLE put together this special issue filled with exclusive on-set photos, interviews with the cast and a preview of all the suspenseful – and steamy – scenes in Twilight’s next chapter.

After Twilight raked in almost $200 million last year, producers quickly got the cast – including insta-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart – back together to film the next chapter of Bella Swan’s species-crossed love affair with Edward Cullen.  “Twilight is about first love; New Moon is about heartbreak,” director Chris Weitz tells PEOPLE.  “That requires the actors to go to some very dark places.”

New Moon “is the beginning of a love triangle,” says Taylor Lautner who plays Bella’s best friend and werewolf Jacob.  “I get nervous trying to represent Team Jacob in the right way.  This guy is some pretty good competition,” admitted Lautner (before a scene with Robert Pattinson).   “The fans would love anybody who played Jacob.  I’m just lucky to be the one who got the chance.”  Thanks to flashbacks, “there is more Edward in the film,” says Weitz.  “Viewers will see him more often than Bella sees him in the book.”

This special collector’s edition also takes a look at the chemistry between Kristen and Robert in both their professional and personal lives.  Director-turned-matchmaker Catherine Hardwicke says that Pattinson and Stewart had sparks flying between them from the first “Action!”  Everyone noticed the connection instantly – especially Pattinson himself.  “When I read Twilight, and there are these moony descriptions of Edward as a godlike figure, I thought there was no way I could play him,” he recalls.  “But when I got in the room with Kristen, there was a certain chemistry.  She’s basically the reason I did the movie.”  While filming Twilight, one romantic scene between Pattinson and Stewart told Hardwicke everything she needed to know.  “When they were kissing,” she recalls with a smile, “Rob got a little passionate and fell off the bed!”  Despite concerns about mixing love and work, the two finally succumbed to their feelings.  “They’re genuine, and they’re very talented,” explains costar Ashley Greene of the common ground they share.  “It’s like a secret potion that you can’t really pinpoint, but they both have it.”

PEOPLE also reports about all the hoopla surrounding the Twilight phenomenon – the screaming teens, the buzzing chat rooms, the collector dolls.  Take it from Ashley Greene, the Twilight frenzy is out of control.  “Kellan Lutz and I look at each other and go, ‘What is going on? This is so insane!’” says the actress who plays Alice.  “It’s very different from anything that I’ve experienced.  But the fans are so passionate.  Seriously, this is the coolest job in the world with the best fans.”  Craziest Twilight tie-in?  Two adjacent corn mazes in Utah, expertly landscaped to spell out Team Edward and Team Jacob.

The cast is already filming part three of the saga, Eclipse, and hopes to begin work on part four, Breaking Dawn, in the not-too-distant future.  “We’re all crossing our fingers, and we all want to finish the series,” says Lutz, who plays vampire Emmett Cullen.  “And we want Stephenie [Meyer, author] to write more books if she could!”

PEOPLE’s New Moon special issue will be available on newsstands from Friday, October 16 – Monday, November 30.

Wolfpack Wednesday

Over the last several months the Lexicon has been very fortunate to attend several of the Official Twilight Conventions run by Creation Entertainment. At every one of the events we have Tweeted about the Q&A sessions given by the various actors most recently in the the main Lexicon account at the Chicago tour stop.

At the Chicago convention we attended we had Bronson Pelletier, Tinsel Korey, Tyson Houseman, and Kiowa Gordon all on stage at the same time telling many funny and personal stories about their experiences on set while filming The Twilight Saga: New Moon. And as always, we Tweeted all about it.

Thanks to Creation, we were fortunate enough, to able to get the pack members to sign various items. And the good news is that we want to repay you all for following our Tweets by giving these photos away.

Each Wednesday, (for as long as we have stuff 🙂 ) we are giving items away. If you know the correct answer, reply to the post with your answer and we will choose one winner at random at the end of the day. Make sure you spell your email address correctly when you post your comment so we can get in touch if you win. Anyone can participate from anywhere in the world. we don’t care if the winner is on the Antarctic science station. we’ll get your photo to you no matter what continent you live on.

We thought we’d shake things up a little for this week’s prize. It’s winner’s choice.  We will pick a random person who knows the correct answer to the below question. Then that person can pick if they want an autographed photo of Alex Meraz, Chaske Spencer, Tyson Houseman, or Bronson Pelletier.

Now for this week’s question: “When asked to describe each of the guys who comprise the wolfpack, how did Tinsel Korey describe: Chaske, Alex, Kiowa, Bronson, Tyson, and Taylor?

We will close this contest at 11:59pm est. today, Wednesday.
