Another Volvo Marketing Pitch Coming This Fall

The Twilight Examiner unearthed this tidbit on A Direct Marketing News Item that announced Allyson Witherspoon as Volvo’s new global digital brand director.

“The automaker will launch a “global online event in November” for the release of Breaking Dawn, the fourth film in the Twilight series, said Brooks. He declined to provide more specific information about the initiative.

Doug Speck, CEO of Volvo Cars of North America, said in January that the company would boost advertising spending this year and that it had planned to spend as much money in the first quarter alone as it spent in 2010.

Witherspoon said she has already held meetings with Volvo and “gone through” her vision for their work.

“Volvo has a rich history of innovation in the digital space,” she said, adding that she has also “reached out to all the [agency’s major] clients.”

Volvo obviously has a history with the franchise. The Examiner has a great rundown on the campaigns that Volvo has run before.

There is at least some good news, and that is that Silver, sports car-type, Volvos were spotted in the Vancouver area (by the TwiFans website see photo above) for filming back in the late spring. So at least they are coming way closer to getting the car in the film to match the car in the book.

Judi Shehkoni Interviewed By The Twilight Examiner

The Twilight Examiner has an exclusive interview with Judi Shekoni who plays Zafrina in Breaking Dawn:

“You were a fan of the Twilight series before you got the role of Zafrina in Breaking Dawn, so when you read the series, did you picture yourself as any of the characters?

Yep, I was a fan. Well, when you read a book you always see yourself as being the character that is telling the story so I guess I lived all the books as Bella, but thinking about it I would have made a very strange and unusual Bella!

Did being a fan make auditioning for the role that much more intimidating or was it easier because you had confidence in your knowledge of the story?

I felt more confident than usual because of my knowledge of the story and the characters; Twilight has a definite feel and style to it that would be hard to pick up from one scene.  I felt I was already inside the world and had lived the lives so I definitely felt I had a good advantage!”

Top Twilight Moments to Look Forward to in 2011

The Twilight Examiner has a rundown of the top Twilight moments to look forward to in 2011. We’ve highlighted two of our personal favorites. What are you most looking forward to?

THE OFFICIAL GUIDE!

At lastttttt . . . On April 12th, Stephenie Meyer’s Official Guide will hit stores. It’s been a long time coming, and fans have been very eager to see what Meyer has cooked up to explain any missing pieces in the Saga. If Bree Tanner was any indication of what was in store with the Guide, it should be a very interesting addition to the collection. The same will be true if Volume 2 of the Twilight Graphic Novel hits stores this year.

Interview, Interview, Interview phase

There are going to be so many television, red carpet, magazine, and online interviews with the cast, crew, and filmmakers over 2011 that Twilight fans’ collective heads will be spinning by November. During the thick of it, there comes a point – at least for Twilight site admins – where you have to decide which of the many, many clips and snippets get the most attention. It’s when there’s content overload like this that it becomes clear just how significant this series is at the moment.”

Anna Kendrick & Kiowa Gordon Go Horror

Anna Kendrick has had an interesting acting career that ranges from being the second youngest person ever to be Tony nominated to Twilight to upcoming projects. One that includes George Clooney.  However, you guessed it. Anna has also done the “horror thing”.

Anna was in the little known TV show, Fear Itself. It was a show that aired on NBC if you’re not familiar with it,  but FEARnet got exclusively 5 episodes that were never aired. FEARnet will exclusively be airing the episodes online for free for viewers on September 2nd.

Kiowa Gordon, who plays Embry, is going to be filming a horror movie in May called Into the Darkness.

The movie’s official MySpace page describes it as, “A group of friends descend upon a remote wilderness area to camp and party reuniting after a year apart. Their decision to embark on a short exploration of an unknown cave system turns into a horrific struggle for survival. Can they find the light before the darkness finds them?”

The film should hit the big screen in March 2011. You can get further details on The Examiner.
