Behind the Scenes at MTV

Mark Burnett, who grew up in London’s East End, is  the media genius behind Survivor and other reality TV, is at mission control when it comes to the MTV Movie Awards.  There’s another notable, but lesser known, East Sider along with him at the helm. Only, it’s East Side New Yorker Lee Rolontz.

Like Mark, Lee’s urban bringing helps to bring the show the edge that it’s known for. They have both been at this for years, but have the souls of 20-year-olds. Lee experienced Studio 54 in it’s heyday, and followed Wham (back in the day) to do a rockmentary in Japan.

“It’s the ‘Twilight’-‘Slumdog’ slug-it-out year…It’s courageous of MTV. ‘Twilight’ is not an Oscar movie. It’s a movie that audiences can rally around that hasn’t been anywhere else.”

Check out the feature in the New York City’s Daily News.

Kings of Leon on Team Twilight

MTV talked to Kings of Leon, a great band that has not only caught the attention of Robert Pattinson, but music giants like U2. The band is friendly with both Zac Efron and Robert Pattinson, so there could be some split loyalties.

Their bassist is firmly in camp Twilight, “I really liked ‘Twilight’ a lot. It was a cool, generational kind of movie. I thought it was really pretty.”

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Back in LA

Hopefully Rob and Kristen got a decent rest on the flight from Rome to LA. Jet lag can be brutal, especially after a week filming action scenes in the heat! No idea what airline they flew, but if it’s British Air, they have those really comfy looking chair/beds in first class. They’re going to need all their energy for the red carpet and show at MTV.

There is going to be a ton of coverage from MTV, to ET, and we’re sure other media outlets will be on the redcarpet.

Latest info has Liz Reaser added to the people attending. So be on the lookout for other Twilight stars that might be last minute adds. For that matter it’s MTV, they are always full of surprises, you never know who is going to turn up.

MTV Movie House Rockin

Various Twilight stars have dropped by the MTV Movie House that is being sponsored by Rev3.

Michael Welch (whose fans just redesigned the fan website, awesome new look) dropped by and signed the guest poster. Via Larry Richman (and if you are an indie film fan you need to follow Larry on Twitter!).

Peter Facinelli and Billy Burke aslo added to the wall. By the way, Peter just tweeted that he will be at the show itself.

At last count here’s who’s going to be there (and the count keeps changing):

Robert Pattinson in front row
Kristen Stewart in front row
Taylor Launter three rows back
Kellan Lutz
Ashley Greene
Cam Gigadent
Peter Facinelli

From the Lexicon Inbox

Since it’s kind of a slow news day today, and this story does have a Montepulciano filming connection, we thought people might be interested in what comes to our inbox on a regular basis. We get hundreds of emails a day on all sorts of things. A lot of the emails say, “I know you’ll never read this, but…” We read everything, but due to time and the fact that we have day jobs (not to mention we are tired of answering the Bella’s period question), we can’t always answer everything.

Over the past few months we’ve had some interesting offers for stuff that we don’t want to post or pursue for one reason or the other (like people walking their dog in their underwear). We usually just ignore it. However the other day, after the mountain of Montepulciano emails that came in, one just took the cake. We don’t quite have a wall of shame, like what Mugglenet has ( awesome site for Potter fans, check them out) but, if we had one this would be on it.

Generally speaking we don’t even respond to emails like this, but in this case we couldn’t resist. It was a long day, we were tired, and pretty much slap happy. As a lead in, a couple of months ago there was a hoax that lasted about 24 hours, which admittedly we fell for, that Brenna Lee Roth, daughter of singer David Lee, was going to be in New Moon. At the time there were great hoax photos of the script, quotes with Chris Weitz, the works.  Anyway, we figured as pranks go well executed and we gave kudos to the group that got us. We should also clarify we don’t know if it was officially Brenna Lee Roth who duped us, fans of hers, or what. So, imagine our surprise when we get this on May 28th, at what would have been roughly 9:00pm in Italy.

Supposed email from driver:

“I know for a fact that Brenna Roth is in Italy right now…with brand new black hair! She checked into the de la votru hotel last night, and begins shooting tomorrow! I am working on set as a driver. Please keep my name confidential on this story and I promise to send you photos next week.”

Our response:

“Brand new black hair, huh? Did the old hair wear out?  Let me guess, she’s playing the third cloaked figure to the right. I’m sure we’ll be able to pick her out in the sea of 1,000 no problem.

Oh wait, you mean the UBER, SUPER SEKRET CAMEO as Renetta who appears in all future films. She’s so secret that Summit has her name under wraps, because she’s an A-list star surprise that all fans will be dying to know about. OMG! SQUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! We can’t wait for the update.

Nice try, don’t quit your day job.”

We didn’t have too much remorse getting snarky with a driver looking to sell his client down the river. Hopefully you all got as good of a laugh as we did, because even if it were true, we certainly weren’t taking clandestine photos from a set driver.

RadarOnline: Montepulciano Piazza Footage

Once again since this is pretty spoilerish, we are only linking rather than embedding. The footage is video of what we only saw still pictures of the other day. Near the end you can see Chris Weitz giving direction to Robert Pattinson on where to stand and what sequence of body stances were wanted for the reveal in the sun.

Check it out on RadarOnline. TY to Mary for the heads up

Also, in case people were wondering how we decide what to link vs. what to post, here’s the deal:

If it’s officially released studio footage or fan photos/video that aren’t uber spoilery (like Jessica and Bella standing outside a movie theater: granted in the book, but not what you would call a high intensity plot point) we post the pics/vid.

If it’s behind the scenes of footage that is grabbed by people standing behind public barricades that is of a high intensity plot point (like the Volterra scenes) we only link.

If it’s illegally obtained (like breaking into the prop trailer) or is of a harrassing nature to the actors on their private time, we don’t post.

If we are given access to footage that we can only release on a certain date and time, we don’t release even if it leaks early elsewhere as it would be a violation of a contract.

Twitter #3ImportantWordsTYChris

We started (hopefully) a Twitter Trend. I think it is a fair bet that we speak for most of the fandom when we say FINALLY…FINALLY Bella and Edward say those three magic words, I LOVE YOU. From the bottom of our hearts Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to Chris Weitz for not cutting those words.

To this day, the most popular movie question that hits our inbox regarding the Twilight movie is why did Bella and Edward not say “I love you” to each other. Fans may disagree on a lot of things in regards to the Twilight movie, but from our experience, pretty much everyone missed the fact that Bella and Edward didn’t say I Love You to each other.

So for those of you on Twitter get out there and get tweeting. Let’s see the power of Twilight Rock Twitter.

Sneak Peak at the New Moon Trailer

Et logoEntertainment Tonight has posted fifteen seconds worth of footage from New Moon.  The complete strailer will be shown at the MTV movie awards on Sunday night at 9pm EST.

We are linking to the video for those of you who wish to stay spoiler free.  But seeing as it is a trailer, I can’t imagine any fans not enjoying hearing Bella say the line that was missing from Twilight.

Catherine Hardwicke Interviewed For MTV Awards

Catherine Hardwicke and her infamous bed made it to an MTV interview in preparation for the Movie Awards.

“Talking about the Best Fight nomination for “Twilight” was very interesting. As you know, the fight scene between Edward and James wasn’t actually written in the book — Bella just wakes up in the hospital — so for this, Catherine was able to completely conjure up the scene. She pulled out all the storyboards and talked us through the anatomy of the scene and how both actors prepared mentally and physically for the roles. With a small budget, she even resorted to using a combination of string cheese and chicken for the torn bits of flesh.”

See the whole interview on MTV.
