W: Five Minutes With Charlie Bewley

W interviewed Charlie Bewley:

Did you feel an obligation to play Demetri a certain way?
Well, as you go down the cast list, the characters are less scripted out, which is great for me because I don’t think that Stephanie [Meyer] for one second imagined that Demitri would be as flamboyant as I play the character.

Do you lose your British accent for the movie?
I keep the British accent because I think the history of film tells us that if there’s a bad guy from a foreign country, they’re probably going to have a British accent.”

Breaking Dawn Confirmed to Be Two Movies

Summit LogoCall this Murphy’s Law. The press release on this came out while the entire admin team was on planes flying to the LA convention. Sorry for being the last to post.

Summit Entertainment confirmed today that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN will be released as two separate films with the first of the two slated to be released in theatres on November 18, 2011. Academy Award® winner Bill Condon will direct both films starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner along with Billy Burke as Charlie Swan as well as returning members of the Cullen Family including Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Jackson Rathbone as Jasper, Nikki Reed as Rosalie, Ashley Greene as Alice and Kellan Lutz as Emmett.

The project, based on the fourth novel in author Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series, is currently being written by Melissa Rosenberg with Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt and Stephenie Meyer producing. The TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN will start production in the Fall.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN illuminates the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic that has entranced millions.

The third film in the franchise, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is due in theaters on June 30, 2010.

Not mentioned in the press release was the release date for the second installment. Our bet (we have no inside info here this is sheer speculation) is that it will be released in June 2012 or November 2012. It will come down to how well Eclipse does as a summer release: does well then the 2nd installment should, doesn’t do well then make it November where things have.

Moviefone’s Hottest Men of Summer 2010

Moviefone has come out with their annual Hottest Men of Summer list and Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner have both made the cut. They join names such as Tom Cruise, Ashton Kutcher, Russell Crowe, Dev Patel, and Bradley Cooper. Sadly Jackson Rathbone did not make the list along side his fellow Twilight and Last Airbender castmates.

Here is what they had to say about Robert Pattinson:

‘He Plays: Vampire Edward Cullen, the one true love of mortal Bella Swan

Where Else You’ve Seen Him: Besides the ‘Twilight’ series? He was poor doomed Cedric in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,’ and romanced Emilie De Ravin in ‘Remember Me.’

Why He’s Hot: The knife-sharp cheekbones! That shock of unruly hair! That heroic profile! If ever any actor was born to brood, it’s R-Pattz. He’s just how we imagine our dream vampire boyfriend should be: pale and thin, with eyes that seem to bore into our soul. When he says, “I promise to love you forever,” who doesn’t swoon?”

Eclipse Soundtrack Soars To The Top of The Billboard Chart

soundrtrackcovereAccording to the Reuters wire story:

“The U.S. album chart is finally heating up after a lengthy lackluster spell, with the latest “Twilight” soundtrack set to lead a trio of notable newcomers next week.

“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” is going up against Christina Aguilera’s first studio release in nearly four years and the latest EP from the cast of the Fox TV show “Glee.”

Industry prognosticators think “Eclipse” will likely debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with possibly as much as 140,000 to 160,000 copies sold by week’s end on June 13. The last “Twilight” release, “New Moon,” was released on a Friday and sold 115,000 in just three days, debuting at No. 2. In its first full week, it sold 153,000 and moved up to No. 1.

Sources also predict that the “Glee” album, “Journey to Regionals,” might sell around 110,000 to 130,000 while Aguilera’s “Bionic” could move 100,000 to 120,000 copies.”

Bree Tanner Hits the US Sales Charts

BreeTannerYesterday we reported how The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner rocketed to the top of the UK sales charts. Today, USA Today is reporting the same thing.

USA Today along with the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Publishers Weekly are the premier lists that booksellers want their products to appear on.  Publishers Weekly and The New York Times subdivide their lists into various subcategories whereas USA Today and the Wall Street Journal throw everybody in together.   What often happens, is that it’s very hard to tell how a book is really doing via the New York Times lists (there are over 30 subcategories) and Publishers Weekly (they don’t rate children’s/teen books).  In fact the New York Times subdivided its list as a direct response to the Harry Potter books clogging the top spots for over a year. On the other hand you can really see the domination of YA material on the USA Today and Wall Street Journal lists.  Last year the Twilight Saga, the Whimpy Kid Series, and the Hunger Games series dominated those lists for weeks.

USA Today published the following today:

“‘Bree’ rules: Like Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, Books 3 and 4 in Stephenie Meyer‘s Twilight saga, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella enters USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list in the top spot. The big difference? Fans had a choice: Buy the book, which went on sale Saturday, or read it for free through July 5 at breetanner.com. Little, Brown reports 350,000 copies were sold in the USA in the book’s first 48 hours on sale; 15,000 have read it online so far. “Given all the time in the world … I could write a short story for every one of my characters,” Meyer says.”

You can check out the USA Today top 150 list here.

Here are where the Twilight Saga books currently rank:

1.   The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

9.   Eclipse

37.  Breaking Dawn

54.  Twilight

65.  New Moon
