FoForks Covers the Crowds Waiting in Brazil for Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Stephenie Meyer

FoForks has a post up talking about the fan experience of waiting to see Robert, Kristen, and Stephenie at the airport and at their hotel. Unlike Kristen’s trip to Rio earlier this year, which by many accounts was filled with various security breaches, their has been none of that so far. The crowds are all enthusiastic but not causing chaos.

They start describing people waiting at the airport.

“I arrived at the airport around 8:30 in the morning. The plane was originally scheduled for 10:10 and then moved up to 09:13 and then changed again to 10:20. Reporters at the airport said that Rob and Kristen got off the plane and were standing on the runway itself, where there was a police car waiting for them, offered by Mayor, Eduardo Paes…” Read more about the airport here(Google translate gives a pretty good translation)

Next they move on to talk about being at the hotel.

When the group got to the hotel, Robert put his face in the window of his room, but the media didn’t pick up on that part. Afterf he did it once clearly, you only saw shadowed figured behind curtains. And each time that happened the crowd went crazy shouting “Kristen! Kristen! “Or” Robert, Robert. “ and they waved their hands in the air. Every time a rumor popped up that they were leaving the parking lot side, everyone ran over there and then everyone came back again. Neither Stephenie Meyer nor Bill Condon were seen.

A few expected Rob and Kristen  to be down to the pool area for lunch, as it was reserved only for guests and it was more secure, but they preferred to eat lunch in their own bedrooms.

Security in place was MUCH improved[from Kristen’s last visit]. In addition to private security actors, the cars were all shielded. There were three military police cars outside the hotel, including a van, but also the municipal guard was helping to keep the masses of people as organized as possible, lol. There was even an ambulance a little farther from where were the fans were  in case some fan got sick or got hurt, which I thought was very nice of the organization. And really, if I stayed there another half hour dying of heat stroke! [Note: it’s now summer in Brazil]

Read more here on the hotel (Google translate helps)

This morning’s news has reports of intrepid fans still waiting outside. It’s raining and they are still there. It’s an interesting mix of Twilight people, Jonas Brothers people, and Vin Diesel people. All three groups are staying at the same hotel.

Rob and Kristen have not been outside yet, or if they have, they haven’t been spotted. The press reports Stephenie Meyer going out and doing some shopping in a jewelry store. She was accompanied by a security team, and there were some press, paparazzi, and onlookers, but there were not reported incidents with crowds or photographers rushing the group.

TV in Brazil Covers the Crowds at the Copacabana

They had barriers up ahead of time to prevent any kind of swarming, but by all reports the crowds have been enthusiastic but great. They coverage also talks about how more and more movies are filming in Brazil.

Stephenie Meyer, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart Land in Brazil

It is official, Stephenie, Robert, and Kristen are all in Brazil. Apparently they were on the same flight a Brazilian fan named Bruna ran into them at the airport.

“…Bruna realized that Kristen was by herself and used the chance to get closer to the actress, “I ran to go talk to her, then she thanked me, gave me a hug and took a picture and everything. Then they were gone, ” she told us. And Bruna was so close to not see Stephenie Meyer! “I was leaving, so then I heard ‘hey, isnt that the woman who wrote the book?’ And when I looked it was Stephenie. I look at her all scared and she laughed. Then I said that I admired her work and she started talking to me.” At the end of our conversation, the brazilian fan said that everyone seemed very happy…”

You can read the full encounter in English on FoForks which one of their owners, Grace has translated.

You can see her pictures here.

As is widely being reported in the mainstream Brazilian press, they are staying at the Copacabana which is where every big star who comes to Rio stays, so that information is not exactly a secret.  Also there are the Jonas Brothers who are on tour in the area and Ashley Greene who is there traveling with them.

The one person who has not been sighted is Taylor Lautner; however, since they do expect to be filming for a number of days, he may not be needed right away.

Bill condon hand

Also among the unsighted and probably happily blending in amongst the tourists are fellow producer Wyck Goddfrey and director Bill Condon. Whereas Wyck might have elected not to come along, (though doubtful since he went to Italy) No doubt Bill is there as this venture is certainly not directing itself.

So, Brazilian fans, those non-descript, middle-aged white tourists with glasses that you keep passing by, are probably the director and a producer.

Chaske Spencer Speaks Candidly About Overcoming Addiction

Chaske Spencer has been open about being a recovering alcoholic and heroin addict. He spoke to an audience of 900 regarding his struggles.

Michigan Live has the report:

“Let me tell you something about heroin,” Spencer told about 900 people Wednesday in Warriner Hall’s Plachta Auditorium. “It is the drug that kills. It will suck your soul, your life, it is no joke. I put myself in situations that I should have never been in.”

These encounters were before “Twilight’s” Sam Uley, leader of the Wolf Pack, was even heard of.

“I still didn’t think I really had a problem until one day I noticed that I couldn’t live without anything in my system,” Spencer said.”

There is also coverage via the newspaper of the University of Illinois:

“Born in Oklahoma, he didn’t move to a Native American reservation until later on in his childhood, where he didn’t make an immediate fit, he said.

“They teased me for being an apple. White on the inside, red on the outside, and I didn’t understand that,” Spencer said.

With a father for an alcoholic, he fell into a crowd of other youths from dysfunctional homes, he said.

“I’m talking dysfunction: There was mental abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse. I thought that was normal for a long time, and it is on a reservation,” Spencer said”

Since getting his life together Chaske has been a vocal supporter of United Global Shift, and has used his Twilight celebrity to bring awareness to causes. He will be at a book launch in New York next week.

Robert Pattinson a Wagner Fan? And No, We Don’t Mean Opera

Supposedly Robert Pattinson made comments to the UK tabloid the Mirror (which has gotten several Twilight stories wrong in the past so take this for what you will) claiming to be a fan of the hit show The X Factor which is backed by Simon Cowell. For those of you unfamiliar with the show, it’s essentially a talent competition for singers that’s run out of the UK. Unlike American Idol, the contestants can be any age, and they have been hand picked by a panel of judges because each one (from countries around the world) has an “X Factor” –that undefinable thing that draws people to them even if they aren’t the most talented, call it charisma, charm, whatever.

Rob’s comments on Wagner and the show were as follows:

“[He is] the sort of guy you’d do a drunken duet with at a family wedding…I love this guy. He doesn’t have the best voice, but he enjoys what he does and I respect him for that…It’s great just to see him wind Simon Cowell up…I really hope Wagner is still in by the final. If filming allows I’ll be there, and I guarantee I’ll be wearing a ‘Vote Wagner’ T-shirt.”

Here’s a video of Wagner performing, judge for yourself. Coincidentally, Wagner hails from Brazil where Rob is currently about to start filming.

Anna Kendrick Does LCD Project With MTV

The folks at MTV sent over this press release on a new venture that they have going with Anna Kendrick.

The creators of the seminal cinema and pop culture magazine MEAN (Music. Entertainment. Art. News.) bring you the launch of a brand new, ground breaking series of music videos featuring A-list talent, entitled “Supervideo.” MTV announced that it will be presenting this exciting project, which utilizes top celebrities of film, television and pop-culture and captures the spirit and excitement of the must-see music video that has been synonymous with MTV. Each “Supervideo” will tap buzzworthy music, filmmakers and talent in a high voltage expression of art and music.

“Supervideo” will give unique filmmakers the opportunity and artistic license to create a multitude of music video formats: short form narrative, montage, animation, abstract, and others, to the rhythm and beat of today’s most exciting music.

Starting off with a bang is “Supervideo: LCD f/Kendrick,” combining the diverse talents of Training Day creator David Ayer, Academy Award nominated actress Anna Kendrick, and the music of the Grammy-nominated critical and fan favorites LCD Soundsystem. The song, “Pow Pow,” from LCD’s current album This Is Happening was used as inspiration for the narrative of the ethereally enveloped atmosphere with Anna Kendrick portraying a deity, “collecting the souls of wicked men.”

David Gale, who ran MTV’s feature film division for over a decade and is now Executive VP of MTV New Media, said “this series taps into all the passions that MTV has celebrated over the years: movies, celebrities, cool filmmakers and, of course, music. We are particularly excited that MEAN has brought these elements together to create a signature new project launching with one of our favorite writer-directors, David Ayer, and two of this generation’s signature artists (Kendrick and LCD Soundsystem).“

MEAN creator, Kashy Khaledi, adds “This is a tremendous opportunity for creative minds, from all walks, to converge on a heralded art form – the music video. The lines in media have been blurred, and ultimately, the notion of compartmentalizing genres of music and film is a thing of the past. With Supervideo, you’ll see an invariably diverse collaboration of creatives that aim to offer something truly SUPER to the masses.”

Former Summit Board Member Called Out For Misrepresenting The Twilight Saga

Summit LogoNikki Finke from Deadline Hollywood has the scoop and the emails on this one. The long and short of it seems that there is a former Summit board member who is/was showing the movies to audiences at what were billed as charity screenings. At these screenings, actors associated with the franchise were solicited to appear. There were also set visits auctioned off without that were apparently without authorization.

According to Nikki Finke:

“Failure may be an orphan in Hollywood, but success has many fathers. I’ve learned that Summit Entertainment has sent a letter threatening legal action if this NYC-based businessman continues to “misrepresent that he’s involved in the ownership, management, decision-making, and operations” of Summit. Last time the studio warned him, he was claiming involvement with Summit’s New Moon and Breaking Dawn movies in the Twilight saga.”

See more details including the correspondence from the legal team and parties involved here.

It looks like the Summit legal team is pretty busy. Over the past year they have been/are currently involved in lawsuits stemming from people hacking into their photographer’s server and distributing unauthorized photos from Eclipse to stopping magazines from running photos for which they did not obtain the proper licensing.

Breaking Dawn Synopsis Out and Filming in Rio About to Happen

Steve from Collider attended was at the American Film Market and he discovered a newly released Breaking Dawn synopsis.

“In the highly anticipated next chapter of the blockbuster The Twilight Saga, the newfound married bliss of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) is cut short when a series of betrayals and misfortunes threatens to destroy their world.

After their wedding, Bella and Edward travel to Rio de Janeiro for their honeymoon, where they finally give in to their passions. Bella soon discovers she is pregnant, and during a nearly fatal childbirth, Edward finally fulfills her wish to become immortal.”

See the rest on Collider

As you can see the synopsis is nothing Earth shattering, pretty much what you would expect.

Speaking of the Rio de Janeiro mentioned in the synopsis, there are various reports filling Brazilian news sites about the cast’s eminent arrival later this week.

There are still reports suggesting that Taylor Lautner may becoming. Various fans are speculating if true, it’s a part of a dream sequence or Bella imagining Jake on the run with Nessie. As one fan on Twitter pointed out, “ Does no one remember Bella’s vision about Jacob & Renesmee running to Rio?!? Prob. why they’re there in Rio 2!”

Others think it’s just reporters assuming Taylor is coming because the Rob, Kristen , and Taylor’s names are frequently linked in the PR and the reporters just aren’t that familiar with the books. With Stephenie Meyer as producer, it’s hard to imagine a script run off the rails so far as to have Jake as a third wheel on Isle Esme.

The other item that might come into play is that Ashley Greene is currently in South America accompanying the Jonas Brothers on their current South American Tour which is just about over. It left us wondering if she is going to hop over to Rio to film any sequences that involve looking for Nahuel and Huelin.

Jennie Garth Supporting First Book Via Cheerios

Those of you who have been following the Lexicon for awhile know that one of the charities that we really like and have reported on over the years is the organization called “First Book”.

Their idea is that you just have to hook someone on the magic of one book and you have a reader for life. Their mission is to get books into the hands of kids to hook them on reading and the doors that reading opens up.

Jennie Garth, the wife of Peter Facinelli is leading the charge in a new campaign. Please check out First Book, it’s one of our very favorite organizations.

This fall, Cheerios®, through its Spoonfuls of Stories® program, is inviting families to start their day with a nutritious breakfast and a brand new book. As part of its ongoing commitment to nurturing the whole child and connecting families by fostering a shared love of reading, Cheerios will once again provide more than six million children’s books, written in both English and Spanish, free inside Cheerios boxes beginning today.
Cheerios is also announcing the findings of its national survey that asked moms of children ages two to six about the role reading plays in their daily lives.  The survey found that although today’s moms are prioritizing reading – 67 percent read to their child at least once a day – nearly two-thirds (61 percent) say “busy schedules” prevent them from spending more time reading.  Through Spoonfuls of Stories, Cheerios aims to celebrate all of the families who read together, while also encouraging those who do not yet read every day to pick up a book and start.
The survey also examined moms’ perceptions of one of the greatest barriers to literacy today – lack of access to books. In fact, a study* showed that while in middle income neighborhoods the ratio of books per child is 13 to 1, in low-income neighborhoods, the ratio is one age-appropriate book for every 300 children. According to the Cheerios survey, however, roughly four in ten moms do not think there is a drastic disparity between middle and lower-income neighborhoods in the U.S. when it comes to children’s access to books. Additionally, nine in ten moms believe that all kids have access to books through their local school and/or public library – a misconception this year’s Spoonfuls of Stories initiative hopes to address. In an effort to combat this issue, Cheerios will also make a $300,000 donation to First Book, an award-winning national nonprofit that helps get books into the hands of children from low-income families. Since 2001, Cheerios has donated more than $3.5 million to First Book.
“Parents play a key role in helping their children become readers. By putting books inside Cheerios boxes, we hope to inspire families to take a few minutes each day to enjoy a good book together,” said Meredith Tutterow, Cheerios marketing manager.  “Through its Spoonfuls of Stories program, Cheerios hopes to increase children’s appetite for a good breakfast and a good book, paving the way for a productive day and a bright future.”
Actress and mother of three, Jennie Garth, has joined forces with Spoonfuls of Stories to celebrate the ninth year of the program and to discuss why she feels it is so important to find time to read with her own kids each day.
“As a mother of three inquisitive daughters, I know how important it is to take time out of our busy lives to read to our children on a daily basis and to instill this important ritual at a young age.  Along with nearly forty percent of the moms surveyed by Cheerios, I too, was not aware that when it comes to children’s access to books, there is a drastic disparity between middle and lower income neighborhoods in the U.S.,” said Garth.  “That’s why I’m thrilled to be a part of an initiative aiming to provide millions of families with access to wonderful children’s books and encouraging families to read together.”
Since Spoonfuls of Stories’ inception in 2001, Cheerios has distributed almost 50 million children’s books inside boxes. This year’s in-pack book offerings, appropriate for children ages three to eight and all from Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, are:
·         All the World, by Liz Garton Scanlon and illustrated by Marla Frazee, discusses the many wonderful things a child can encounter in the world as well as the commonalities all the world shares.
·         Chaucer’s First Winter, by Stephen Krensky and illustrated by Henry Cole, follows a bear named Chaucer, who knows he is supposed to sleep through the winter but feels it’s much more fun to stay up and play.
·         Jump!, by Scott M. Fischer, chronicles the adventures of a bug, a frog, a cat, a hound, a crocodile, a shark, and a whale, who all love to jump!
·         No T. Rex in the Library, by Toni Buzzeo and illustrated by Sachiko Yoshikawa, is a story about a little girl named Tess and her adventures in the library with a boisterous T-Rex.
·         The Purple Kangaroo, by comedian Michael Ian Black and illustrated by Peter Brown, is a vivid and humor-filled story that tricks the reader into thinking about a purple kangaroo.
