Stephenie Meyer Nominated as Children’s Author of the Year

Stephenie Meyer has been nominated as Children’s Author of the Year based on her book The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. You can see from the above graphic that she faces stiff competition from her fellow nominees.  You can vote over on Children’s Book Week.

Stephenie was previously recognized by this group in 2009 for her work on Breaking Dawn. The awards were established in 2008.

EDITED: Please note that just like the New York Times and many other best seller lists, they do not have a list for YA books. They lump everything from Pat the Bunny to YA novels racier than Twilight in the wide-sweeping children’s books category. Both the Hunger Games and The Mortal Instruments series also contain mature elements.  When they make these lists they are more or less looking at grade 6 through high school.

The Insider Features a Kristen Stewart Blast From the Past

According to The Insider, “Hit rewind and take a ride back to this day in history nine years ago – March 18, 2002 — when ‘Twilight’ star Kristen Stewart was just a girl of 11 hitting the red carpet for the premiere of ‘Panic Room.”

Jodie Foster just mentioned Kristen in an interview yesterday with The Hollywood Reporter. Jodie told THR: “I just love Kristen Stewart, but I didn’t think she’d choose to be an actress,” Foster tells the latest issue of THR (on newsstands now). “I said to her mom, ‘She doesn’t want that, right?’ And she’s like, ‘Well, yes, she kind of does.’ Because she’s very much like me: She’s not comfortable in life being a big externally, emotional person, beating her chest, crying every five minutes. I felt she was such an intelligent technician, so interested in camera – I thought that would translate to other things.”

TY to Danielle for the heads up on the video!

MTV’s Favorite Robert Pattinson Moment

In anticipation of their Robert Pattinson interview later today, MTV has been counting down their favorite Robert Pattinson moments. They just revealed their number 1 (see video below).

“It all went down last June at the “Eclipse” premiere during our red-carpet live stream. The crowd outside the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles was squealing like mad, and we wanted to know if one rumor could possibly be true: Was Pattinson really looking forward to the moment the “Twilight” franchise would be behind him?

“That was such bullsh–. I am so pissed off!” he said.

But Rob, man, we’re live!

“Oh sh–!” he cried.

That’s not making it better. Oh well, those are the perils and pleasures of reporting live. And as it turned out, after Pattinson declared that he’d been misquoted about being ready to leave “Twilight” behind, he went on to give us a very thoughtful answer about the prospect of life after the vampire franchise.

“Anyone who says they’re tired of this is completely crazy. If I ever said that, someone should just remind me of what I was doing before: just sitting around doing nothing,” he said, adding, “I love doing the movies. I like all the people. I’ve had a great time on all of them. The cast is great. It’s just weird. It’s become so much a part of my life. It’s like divorcing someone. I guess I’ll see. Maybe it’ll be great. I have no idea.”

Don’t miss “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” tonight at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com. Tune in to see RPattz introduce a new “Water for Elephants” clip, followed by a live 30-minute interview on MTV.com. Tweet questions using the hashtag #askrob to get in the conversation!”

Angela Sarafyan’s American Animal Debuts at SXSW

Angela Sarafyan who plays Tia in Breaking Dawn is at the SXSW Film Festival to promote her film American Animal. They have just released the trailer. (trailer below: warning it is not currently rated, but in our opinion it would be an R trailer for nudity, not work/school safe! ).

According to their press kit, this is the summary of the film:

“Jimmy is a terminally ill young man. He is also quite eccentric, bordering on plain old crazy, and starting today he has decided that he is ‘happy’ and no longer sick. Jimmy’s roommate James is a healthy, dreamy young man. They’re best friends. They live together. They don’t do much of anything and they seem very happy that way. Today, they have a couple of female friends over to their downtown Los Angeles loft for just another day of drinks, drugs, board games and casual sex, among other things. All seems well. But trouble arises when it gets revealed that James will be leaving for a new job in the morning. Jimmy, feeling betrayed, is not pleased by this development. He sees it as nothing short of the destruction of the perfect little world that they’ve set up, and a classic, humorous battle of wills ensues as James prepares for the real world and Jimmy falls deeper and deeper into his world of illness, isolation, madness and make-believe.”

Noel Fisher Talks Ten Years in the Business & Breaking Dawn to Deadbolt

As part of The Battle Los Angeles PR swing, Deadbolt interviewed Noel Fisher. Noel talked about his current movie and Breaking Dawn”

THE DEADBOLT: What’s it like to read the books and get so much imagery in your mind from that experience and then step onto the set?

FISHER: Well, that’s the best part about filming and the different aspects of taking the book and turning it into a movie. All of the different people, from wardrobe to the set designer and having all of these different things come together in something you can touch and feel, it brings it up to a whole different level. I think they did a really good job of interpreting Stephenie Meyer’s books and turning it into something you can watch.

THE DEADBOLT: What surprised you most about working with Bill Condon?

FISHER: Just that he is maybe the kindest person I’ve ever met. He’s just super excited to be working on this. I’ve said this a couple of times, but I just love that he will take the time for anyone. He’s just genuinely interested in hearing your ideas and talking about whatever is going on in the scene, even if you’re not a huge part of the scene. He just wants to layer this and layer this into something just beautiful and I think that’s a very wonderful thing in a director to find.”

See more on Deadbolt.
