Edward Meadow Announces: Battle of the Twilight Bands Take Four

It’s that time of year again, when our friends over at Edward’s Meadow host their annual Battle of the Twilight Bands contest. Here’s what they wrote in to tell us about this year’s contest.

For those of you who don’t know, the Battle of the Twilight Bands is a contest we hold every year where Twilight-inspired songwriters can enter their music to compete against other Twilight fans’ songs. Fans can listen to all the songs and vote for their favorite. The top five voted songs will be sent to our board of judges, which will choose the winners!

This year we have a smorgasbord of prizes for the winners, including a Michael Welch autograph, 4 Breaking Dawn movie tickets from Fandango, a free Twilight shirt from Cafe Press, and tons more for the first place winner! A Bella’s bracelet, free copies of the book “The Psychology of Twilight,” and one-of-a-kind Twilight merchandise is also up for grabs! Click here for the full list of prizes.

You can find all the contest details here: http://www.edwardsmeadow.com/battleofthetwilightbands.

Phineas and Ferb – Spoof Twilight in “That’s the Spirit/The Curse of Candace.”

If you have kids, chances are they are hooked on the Disney Channel’s Phineas and Ferb. Well they did a Twilight spoof. According to BSC Kids, “Anna Paquin will be voicing Kristen, while Stephen will be Jared. Michael J. Fox will be the handy werewolf with Michael Douglas will be starring in the other half. Pretty exciting for one Disney show to have all these stars lined up. However, this show has a huge following for a reason and it looks like that will be kept up with for a while.”

Nikki Reed Talks to Elle Magazine:Fingerpainting and Rats

Nikki Reed talks to Elle about fashion, Twilight, and her post Twilight life.

ELLE: How do you define your style?
NR
:Well, clearly, I like to wear what’s comfortable. That’s my first instinct, to always go with what’s comfortable. I’m really into Elizabeth and James. That’s what I’m wearing right now. I feel like it fits my body right or just loose enough to be right. And my earrings are from Tacori.

ELLE: With the Twilight Saga ending, what does your post-Twilight life look like?
NR: Life after Twilight has consisted of me, honestly, figuring out what direction I want to go in, who I am, what kind of films I want to make—or if I want to make films, or TV, or work on a novel. That’s what Twilight has actually done, afforded me time to sit back and think for a second, ‘What do I want to do?’ Focusing on the things that make me feel unique or different in any way is kind of what I want to do right now.

ELLE: Do you have industry mentors helping you make those choices?
NR: I do. Nia Vardalos is a wonderful lady. And Rita Wilson, Holly Hunter, Catherine Hardwick. Those are all women that I aspire to be like. Women that focus more on what’s going on up here [in the mind] and have very, normal, grounded lives. They can make great movies and go to Starbucks, and no one cares. That’s what I want.

Video: Christian Serratos Joins Cut Out Dissection Campaign

Christian Serratos who has worked with Peta before is joining another of their campaigns. This one stresses that there are alternatives to traditional dissection that are animal friendly. According to the press release.

Just in time for “Cut Out Dissection” Month, Twilight star Christian Serratos—known to Twihards as Bella’s friend Angela—is the star of a brand-new video for peta2, the world’s largest youth animal rights organization, in which she encourages students to skip animal dissection in favor of using high-tech, educational simulators. It’s a subject that Serratos, currently appearing in American Horror Story, has been passionate about for years—back in her days on Nickelodeon’s Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, her character spent an episode campaigning for dissection alternatives in their school.

“These animals haven’t donated their bodies to science, and they have the same ability to experience pain and fear as your companion animals at home,” says Serratos in the video. “Studies have shown that students who use alternatives to dissection perform as well as—if not better than—students who dissect animals. If you’re asked to participate in dissection in your school, ask your teacher for an alternative assignment.”

Every year, more than 10 million animals are dissected in secondary school and college science classes. Most are obtained from biological supply houses. PETA obtained undercover video footage of one supply house in which terrified cats were forcibly herded into gas chambers. Other animals were injected with formaldehyde and left to writhe in agony. A number of animals who are used for dissection are taken from wild populations—a practice that wreaks havoc on local ecosystems—and others are purchased from animal shelters.

Serratos, who previously teamed up with peta2 for two anti-fur campaigns, is part of a long list of celebrities to join peta2 in speaking up for animals. Visitors to peta2.com can find interviews with all their favorite bands and celebrities—including Justin Bieber, Daniella Monet, Stephanie Pratt, Lea Michele, Sarah Hyland, Kellan Lutz, Matt Prokop, and Pink—and enter contests to win great prizes, such as iPods and concert tickets.

Breaking Dawn Merchandise Now at Hot Topic and Play.com

It’s obviously not the full run of items, but many of the things that were seen earlier today on Play.Com now appear at Hot Topic. Play.com still has about triple the amount of merchandise at the moment; however, Hot Topic has some things not found on the Play.com site. As we said it’s still really early. Likely they will continue to stock items.

Taylor Lautner is November’s GQ Model

Looks like we just keep racking up Twilight actors on magazine covers! Taylor Launter is in November’s GQ (Australian edition).

Here’s part of the interview.

We’re sitting down to lunch at L’Ermitage, a swank hotel in Beverly Hills that Lautner likes for its privacy. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows your name, but pretends they’ve never seen your face. He needs that, these days, that kind of protection. Because Twilight’s Jacob Black — the teen wolf — is mobbed wherever he goes.

“It comes down to what kind of mood you’re in,” he says. “You have to make a decision before you go out: are you willing to sign autographs and take pictures, say hello and meet new people?”

Is it upsetting?

“I wouldn’t say I get upset about it. I asked for this,” he says. “It gets frustrating. But during that frustration you say, ‘OK. Why am I frustrated? I’m doing what I love.’ But sometimes you really just want to go do whatever you want to do.”

They also sent over some fabulous photos.
