Quileute Nation Opens Tribal Online Store

QN-store-ad-5

Tinsel Korey Tweeted about this the other week. The folks over at Quileute Wolfpack reminded us and the Quileute publicity team sent over these images. The Quileute Nation now has started an online store. If you have ever been to La Push there is quite an extensive store with tons of items. Pel regularly wears a necklace that she got there. Check out their items. We’ve seen them first-hand and can attest to the superior craftsmanship and high quality.

A Runaways and Eclipse Soundtrack Connection?

maren-paruselAccording to San Diego News Network legendary music insider and talent finder Kim Fowley is apparently helping Maren Parusel, an up and coming San Diego musician, win a spot on the Eclipse soundtrack. There also may have been a bit of assistance from Kristen Stewart.

“Mario Escovedo, the local talent hound who happens to be the younger brother of Javier Escovedo of ’70s-vintage all-boy rock band The Zeros, reports that “legendary producer” Fowley was in Austin last week for South by Southwest “to promote the movie about how he discovered Joan Jett and The Runaways,” when he “met Maren Parusel unloading equipment in an alley.”

“Two days later she was recording with him in Los Angeles,” remaking her “Ordinary Day,” Escovedo e-mails.

“I’m hearing nothing but good things about the movie,” he adds. “And because of the actress playing Joan Jett, Kim Fowley struck a deal to write some songs for Twilight three.”

So, maybe it’s a shot in the dark and maybe they have a shot, only time will tell because very indie band in town is sending in their pitch. For that matter so are the mainstream ones, Muse seems to have worked their way back on the soundtrack after initial reports that they were off.

Is anyone a fan of Maren Parusel? How would you classify her music?

Eclipse: Fire and Ice Goes Ice Cream?

SansonContest

Today we saw this flurry of activity on Twitter about Eclipse ice cream bars. When we saw the pictures, we recognized the brand, Sanson, as a popular European one based out of Italy. So, we did a little checking because it seemed a little weird that the first main product push would be ice cream made in Italy. The pictures seem to have originated from the La Push Wolfpack Italian forum.

sansoncontesttake2

So here’s what we found out via Twilight Italia, who broke the story, that seems to have been Tweeted round the world. With a little help from Google Translation we’ve discovered that there’s this contest being held by Sanson to send two winners of the which ice cream is better (chocolate paw print=Jacob, lemon with strawberry inside=Edward) to the official Twilight Tour in Portland that is run by Creation Entertainment.  They also, we think, win a replica Bella’s ring.( We admit that we are a little sketchy on that part.)

Anyway, we asked Summit about it and we learned that there was a deal for this item and we might see some other Eclipse products pop up in non-USA markets, so keep your eyes open!

E! The Kids Choice Awards Red…er…Orange Carpet

E!’s appropriately aged reporter asks Taylor Lautner a few questions on the Orange Carpet at the Kids Choice Awards.

Video: Jackson Rathbone and Taylor Lautner on the Kids Choice Award

Taylor was on hand to accept his award as favorite movie actor. Jackson was there with the Last Airbender cast to promote their movie and to do a slime-bending stunt with Nicola Peltz. (video quality is so-so, we’ll replace with better versions when available)

FearNet: Jackson Rahtbone Part 2, From Dread to Airbender and What Is Fear

jacksonrathbonedreadJen Yamato is back with part 2 of her Jackson Rathbone interview on FearNet.

“In his time off from the ongoing Twilight series, Jackson Rathbone decided to dive right into a film about the nature of fear itself: Dread, based on the Book of Blood short story by horror-fantasy author Clive Barker. In the film, adapted and directed by Anthoni DiBlasi, Rathbone plays Stephen, a mild-mannered film student who gets caught up in a classmate’s study of fear — a project that takes an unexpectedly dark and disturbing turn.

FEARnet spoke with Rathbone by phone as he was preparing to play New Orleans with his band, 100 Monkeys, with whom he’ll be touring right up to the start of his promo duties for June’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. (Read our Eclipse-focused chat with Rathbone here) Rathbone discussed his reasons for taking on the part in the gory psychological thriller — including the behind-the-scenes story of his brush with a live maggot, partially documented on the Dread DVD, out this week — and how the disparate worlds of Dread and Twilight both fit into his multi-faceted career.

Rathbone also recalled his challenging guest spot on Criminal Minds as a killer with multiple personality disorder and spoke about fight training for M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender, his upcoming fantasy-action film. Dallas fans can catch Rathbone in person on April 24, when he appears with 100 Monkeys at the Spencer Bell Legacy Concert in memory of his late friend, Spencer Bell, whose posthumously-released song Beautiful, More So also marks Rathbone’s music video directing debut.”

_______________________________________________________

Recently, two convention companies that were relatively new (each under two years in operation) have folded. One about three months ago and another this past week. We know via emails and tweets that we have received that this has raised peoples’ level of concern, as rightly it should. Below is our convention 101 advice. It gives you guidelines about what to look for, and how not to get stung. Now granted nothing in life is 100% foolproof, but following these steps (especially the part about checking into other consumers’ past experience with the company) can avoid a lot of disappointment.

Aside from our generic advice, we have listed three companies that provide fan experiences, have been in the fan entertainment industry for years, and overall have a positive track record. Anyone can have a bad experience any place on a given day(ie: Macy’s has been around for years and isn’t flawless), but the vast majority of the feedback on the below places is positive. As we said, their longevity is a testament to great management and business savvy, that results in happy customers and excellent customer service. In the interest of full disclosure, anyone who regularly follows this blog knows that we frequently appear at one of these company’s events. Obviously, we have a bias so please do take that into account, as you should.
