Michael Welch is one of the few Twilight actors who consistently does live theater. The others are Liz Reaser, Edi Gathegi, and Anna  Kendrick.

Mike has given his support to the festival in the past. This yearly festival showcases the writing skills of student writers. Who knows the next Neil Simon could be in this crowd! According to the LA Times:

The selected plays range from existential dramas to slapstick comedies. Each playwright is paired with a mentor and director, many of whom have experience in the theatrical or film and television industries.

This year’s mentors and directors include playwright David Rambo, Tony nominee Jane Lanier, actress Barbara Bain and the Blank Theatre’s artistic director, Daniel Henning.”

According to Broadway World,  “Week three (June 17-20) will feature: Heather Morris, Michael Welch, Jenna Leigh Green.”

NY Post: Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz Have Signed On For Breaking Dawn

kellashThe source here is the New York Post’s Page Six, which typically covers things like who drunkenly stumbled out of the NYC club scene the night before to various celebs strolling with their kids in the Village and Central Park. So, consider the source. I think we can be tentatively optimistic that Kellan and Ashley have signed on. EW and THR who have been covering the story since day one and have stronger reputations (in our opinion) probably have similar sources, we’ll be watching for their validation.

“Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz have closed deals to reup their roles in the next Twilight movie, “Breaking Dawn.”

Greene and Lutz signed contracts last nights, acccording to sources close to the deal.

Movie studio Summit Entertainment, which has made billions off the franchise, had been in negotiations with the two supporting characters since last week, but the two actors reportedly wanted pay increases for the next movie since the studio did not allow them to renegotiate on the second and third films.

Summit caved in after the two actors held out for more cash. “The studio realized how valuable Ashley and Kellan are to the franchise and did what they needed to do to keep them,” said a source close to the situation.”
See the total dollar amount here.

EDITED: The Hollywood Reporter Corroborates the NY POST story:

“Lutz and Greene are getting in the neighborhood of $1.25 million for each of the final movies, we’re told. A far cry from either the $4 million or $2 million (depending on who you believe) paydays they were initially seeking. But certainly more than they made for the first three movies.

We’re told the deals closed last night after a week of tense negotiations. Will the studio now officially greenlight a fifth “Twilight”? No word yet, and sources say the trigger won’t be pulled until everything is 100% finalized. But now that the principal cast (Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner) are wrapping up deals, supporting players are signed and director Bill Condon is on board for two movies, we expect an announcement very soon.”

Nikki Reed Lending Support for Kids In Need

Nikki_Photo_dosomethignAccording to The Press Release from Do Something and Staples:

DoSomething.org and Staples /quotes/comstock/15*!spls/quotes/nls/spls (SPLS 21.88, -0.07, -0.32%) are teaming up with actress and screenwriter, Nikki Reed, for the 3rd Annual National Staples/Do Something 101 School Supply Drive (www.dosomething101.org).

Nikki, star of this summer’s upcoming blockbuster film Twilight: Eclipse, is encouraging teens to make a difference this summer by collecting school supplies and dropping them off at their local Staples store from July 4 through September 18. In addition, Staples customers will be able to get involved by donating $1 at any Staples store, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting local students in need. Each Staples store will be matched to a local educational not-for-profit organization serving local youth, and DoSomething.org and Staples will ensure that all the donations get to these partners just in time for the new school year.

“Do Something 101 has done an amazing job in its first two years, and I’m dedicated to making the 2010 campaign the best yet,” said Nikki Reed. “Every donated pencil, notebook and other supplies add up to make a big difference in improving education.”

During the first two Do Something 101 school supply drives, Staples and DoSomething.org, with the help from celebrity supporters Jordin Sparks and Ciara, raised more than $750,000. To build on this success and help kick off the 2010 campaign, Nikki is starring in a public service announcement (PSA) that will air on television and radio stations nationwide, starting in July. Staples will also donate more than $125,000 worth of school supplies to the program.

“Since 2008, Do Something 101 has inspired teens and Staples customers to help students in need who cannot afford basic school supplies,” said Jevin Eagle, executive vice president of merchandising and marketing at Staples. “Staples is committed to making a difference in the community, and we hope to continue to build awareness for Do Something 101 to help hundreds of thousands of students succeed in school.”

Teens who want to get involved can go to www.DoSomething101.org for ideas on how to run local school supply drives and to sign up for an action kit. Whether holding a school supply drive at summer camp, during a summer sports league, or at a neighborhood block party, DoSomething.org and Staples offer tips, resources, and flyers for how to get started and make the most of every teen’s summer.

“DoSomething.org empowers teens to take action in their communities,” said Nancy Lublin, CEO and Chief Old Person at DoSomething.org. “Staples has been a fantastic supporter for the past several years and we’re thrilled to continue the relationship, and the Do Something 101 campaign, to provide young people with even more opportunities to rock social change with their friends this summer.”

To further demonstrate support for DoSomething.org, new for 2010, Staples is launching a line of DoSomething.org-inspired products that students can use to keep organized and learn about important issues impacting their communities. These products will be available at Staples retail stores by July 4 and will direct students to www.dosomething101.org/staples, a dedicated microsite with additional information and suggestions to help students take action in their communities.
