So if you are a Team Jacob or a Team Wolfpack person, you might want to check these Bob Basset creations out.

“…as seen in the most recent New York Times Style Magazine’s “Don’t Step On Her Toes,” now on the market are–wait for it–werewolf shoes! We are talking shoes with giant werewolf claws extending from them. A little traumatized by this? I know! Me, too. I am both immensely amused and disturbed. I quote:

“For those who run with wolves, Bob Basset, an artist from Kharkov, Ukraine, has created a tantalizing prototype. In addition to their conspicuous claws, his ”leather paw shoes” have foot pads on the underside (digital, metatarsal and tarsus) so wearers can feel lycanthropic to their very soles.”

Stephenie Meyer’s Band Choices Like Her Too

According to MTV, several of the bands that Stephenie mentioned on her recent website update are just as much fans of her as she is a fan of them.

“…The guys in White Rabbits — whose album, It’s Frightening, Meyer very much digs — have never met the author, but drummer Matt Clark considers himself a fan, if only because his girlfriend convinced him to watch the movie.

“She’d just read the book and said, ‘You have to watch this movie with me,’ ” Clark explained to MTV News. “Typically it’s not my thing, but I checked it out because she asked. It was great!”

By that point, he was already well aware of the ability of the “Twilight” to bring lesser-known bands to wider attention. “The soundtrack is a huge Billboard hit, which is really rare nowadays,” he said.”

Meet Boo Boo Stewart

The Parents Examiner, Kim Sherman, has a piece featuring Boo Boo Stewart, Seth in Eclipse.

“Digging further into the background of newly cast Boo Boo Stewart as the highly anticipated role of Seth Clearwater reveals a bubblegum star with quite an established fan base of tweens, making him a perfect presentation for the role of Seth. Julia Jones SEGN Interview Part 1

SEGN interviewed Julia Jones who is playing the Leah in Eclipse. There is an audio interview and a partial transcript.

On reading the books: “I got very obsessive and went through all 4 of them. In the last week and a half, I’ve read the first 3. I just finished Eclipse today. I think the books are incredible. Stephenie Mayer[sic] managed to capture a level of humanity, especially with Bella’s character. Her inner thoughts are the similar thoughts you’ve ha d in similar situations but they’re so deep down, ones that you sometimes don’t even admit to yourself.”

Enough With the Twilight Bashing Already!

The Twilight Examiner, Amanda Bell, has written a piece about how the media bashing of Twilight has gotten ridiculous. Obviously Twilight does not appeal to everyone, but do we see the same type of critique applied to mostly male driven items?  Are conventioners in Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, or other events constantly questioned as to how they choose to spend their money?

To Amanda we say “Rock on, sister! Rock-on!”

“That’s it. Somebody has to say it. Enough with the passive aggressive Twilight fan-bashing already.

Today, an article by the Frisky’s Nikki Dowling has effectively taken a place as the 1,037,394th (rough estimate, naturally) article writer to take a stab at fans of the Twilight series and their interest in becoming an active community.

For months, it has been a running gag. Media outlets post snippets of information about the Twilight series, its cast, the studio involved, and the fans, but they do so under the auspices of irritation. An air of accomplishment accompanies their snarky remarks about fans of the series.

Today’s article is a prime example of that incessant patronization.”

Judging a Book By It’s Twilight Cover

The UK paper The Guardian talks about the Bronte classic, Wuthering Heights getting a new cover partially inspired by Twilight and the book being one that Bella is reading.

“Novels getting a makeover because of a movie or television adaptation is nothing new … the new edition of Wuthering Heights, from Harper, borrows the contemporary Gothic design style of Meyer’s successful series. The American edition, coming in October, re-presents the Brontë novel with a cover comprising a black background and blood-red rose, while the UK edition opts for a tender white bloom, and the very vampiric cover blurb: Love Never Dies.

Should we be appalled, or approving of this latest move?”

As a side note, initially back in 2005 Twilight didn’t sell well in the UK. It didn’t start to catch on until Eclipse when the UK covers matched the American styles and the books were rebranded. The original UK cover is pictured to the left.

Chaske Spencer Reaching Out To Others

MTV features Chaske Spencer’s , who plays Sam in New Moon, recent charity work:

“Maybe I take my pop culture a bit too seriously, but last night I was watching a documentary on Roseanne Barr and as it listed all the vain, nonsensical, mean-spirited ways that she blew her early-90s power and money, and I couldn’t help but wonder: How much did I contribute to that behavior by watching her sitcom every week back in the day? Well, maybe we can all feel a little bit better about blowing our cash on something like “Twilight,” as evidenced by a story we ran recently on the cast’s devotion to charity work.

And the hits just keep on coming! As we were putting that story to bed, I got a shout from “New Moon” star Chaske Spencer, who was hoping to bring some attention to his own recent efforts. Naturally, we’re happy to report that more good is going on out there courtesy Sam Uley — and it doesn’t even involve taking his shirt off.”

Convention Craze: What’s Your Favorite Thing to See?

We get so many emails from fans who say, “I saw so-in-so sing a a con and he was great.” or ” I had no idea person x was that funny live.”  At a lot of these events there is no video footage allowed so it’s hard to show people why something was a great experience. So just for fun with all the upcoming conventions we thought we’d do a poll about fan favorites in different categories.  So you can chime in who your favorite person at a convention was, or who you’d look forward to seeing.

Also, because we get so many emails about this, if you’ve been to a convention and you have seen a particular person, could you add your thoughts in the comments? This way other fans can get some ideas about what to expect at a convention. It’s hard for us to describe things because we haven’t been to every con ( just the other day people wanted to know what we knew about HUB in Australia), but if people chimed in from all over US, Australia, UK put down there experiences in their area…then people would have a better idea on what they might see.
