Bobby Long at Arlene’s Grocery

Last night Bobby Long played two shows are Arlene’s Grocery where people like  Jeff Buckley and the Black Crows have played.  The first show was for the press that he had met with earlier in the day.  The second show he played to a large, enthusiastic crowd of fans.  In case you are interested there is a fansite, The Land of Dreamers, is dedicated to the music of Bobby Long, Sam Bradley, and Marcus Foster.

I can’t say enough good things about Bobby’s performances.  He is an amazing guitarist. Many of the people around me were commenting about things he could do with a guitar and still be focused singing.  His voice is hard to describe.  I want to say there is a texture to it but every word I think of, smokey, raspy, doesn’t quite do it justice.   You’ll just have to listen for yourself and tell me what you think.  He is amazing to see live.  I highly suggest checking out his myspace to listen to all his songs and if he is coming to a town near you stop in and check out his show.

Bobby can been seen in LA at Hotel Cafe on 4/16 and the 18th (21+) and Whiskey a Go Go on the 17th, all ages show.  Then in Nashville at 3rd and Lindsey Bar and Grill on the 22nd and 23rd (18+).

There is a video below of him performing last night.  The first song was recorded during the first show and isn’t the best visually but the sound is good.  The second and third songs were recorded during the second show.  The recordings don’t do him nearly enough justice but I hope I you can get a sense of how good he really is.

For some reason in this video the names of the songs overlapped.  This song is called Dead and Done. And yes, I know it cuts off about the last 20 seconds of the song but the song itself was too good to scrap altogether. So enjoy!

Hugh Jackman Gives Thumbs Up To Rob’s Singing

In Italy to promote his upcoming film, High Jackman was asked by what he thought of Robert Pattinson’s singing the night they met in Japan. For those of you who don’t remember, right after the Oscars Rob, Kristen, and Taylor went to Japan for the Twilight movie release there. Hugh Jackman, who was there at the same time for the Australia movie release, was staying at their hotel and they all ended up doing Karaoke in the bar (oh to have been a fly on that wall).

Here’s a video from the local Italian TV station (warning it takes forever to buffer) and the transcript over at Robsessed

New Moon Cast Supports: 100 Monkeys

Vancity Allie scored some tickets and passes to the 100 Monkeys gig in Vancouver last night.  The New Moon cast was their in droves to support Jackson Rathbone and his band.

According to Vancity Allie:

“I can’t even begin to tell you how nice the cast was. They asked for us to wait to take photos until mainly after the show because they didn’t want to take the spotlight from Jackson’s band, and they were incredibly kind, classy, and friendly. And they mostly hung out in the crowd all night, just enjoying the show like everyone else. Mindblowing! Kudos, Twilight cast. You really are a one-of-a-kind group. Thanks for putting up with us fans!”

Plan Your Twilight Vacation Now

Let’s say conventions are not your thing. There are a ton of different options open to you for a Twilight vacation:

First, Beyond Boundaries, the company who counts the highly successful Harry Potter tours in their repertoire, sponsors Twilight Fan Trips. This summer they have three options for Twilight fans:

Now if cruising Twilight style floats your boat (literally), you have an entire year to save up for this next opportunity. The Examiner did a Q & A with the sponsors of the first ever Twilight Themed cruise.

“First of all, Twilight Fans can look forward to [a] Question and Answer Session, Autograph Session, Photo Shoot, Costume Ball and Contest, Original Game Shows like Twilight Jeopardy and Cullen Family Feud, Parties, Movie Viewings, Vendors room and meeting other Twilight Fans from all over the world. We will get to hang out every night and dance and sing Karaoke and just have fun.”

Now if you are traveling to Forks on your own, and want something on a smaller scale, there is the Dazzled By Twilight site that does tours in and around Forks and La Push. The operation is a local one that supports the local Forks economy.
