100 Monkeys Interview, June 14, 2009

Now with player/link that should work. See below.

Pel and Be My Escape (Laura and Jen) were able to interview 100 Monkeys after their CD signing at the Barnes and Noble located at the Promenade Shops in Center Valley, PA.

The band was great. They had signed over 300 CDs in just over an hour. If you’ve ever been to a signing you know how impressive that rate is because usually things take longer than that. So we caught up with them in the store room at B&N which had been converted into an interview space.

Throughout the interview Jackson would randomly pick up a ukulele that was Spencer Bell’s and he’d strum along a bit. Jackson and Jerad are probably the most naturally talkative, but the two Ben’s had great things to say when they did speak up. They area really relaxed bunch, that was completely gracious to everyone they encountered whether it was tongue-tied 13-year-old girls, or a B&N employee asking for a photo because her shift was ending and she was going home.

You can tell that the guys just feed off each others energy in an interview, just as they do when performing on stage. They are constantly laughing and goading each other during the interview in a good-natured way. Whether it’s miming dying of the heat at Khyber, joking about their long-distance driving skills, or  Ben G teasing Jackson that his love of banjo comes from Southern inbreeding that  in turn caused Jackson to fling a black sharpie right at Ben, you can tell how much they enjoy each others company.

Rather then type out an entire transcript, we’ve put a few key notes under the cut so you can tell who’s taking when. Other than  the first minute when the guys were all chiming in at once, it’s pretty clear who is who.

100 Monkeys at the Promenade Shops

The 100 Monkeys had a CD signing at the Barnes and Noble at the Promenade Shops in Center Valley, PA on June 14th. Jackson, Ben, Ben, Jerad, and Uncle (who came along and played percussion at their gig  later on) were all on hand for the CD signing.

Given what we are used to the crowd was really low key, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t excited. They just didn’t scream the whole time, which was a really refreshing change.  A local TV crew covered the story. Their video is below. We also had a chance to interview the band and we’ll have that audio up shortly, we’re just finishing the transcript now.

We also have some fabulous high-def video coming your way. The lighting at Croc Roc was way better than Khyber (which was like shooting footage in a cave) so we’ll have some awesome video for you once we finish editing. Cullen Boys Anonymous was also there. We’re looking forward to their pictures once they have a chance to upload.

Jacob’s Ultimate New Moon Song

Way back in April we did a poll about Jacob New Moon Songs however I had already created the list without getting input from everyone.(I know, I know silly me)  So here is your chance to disucss which song you think will best represent Jacob in New Moon.

As always please put links and not entire song lyrics in your posts!!  Also Please make sure to put the Song Name and Artist name in case I need to locate the song.  As always this is just for FUN and has nothing to do with the actual soundtrack for New Moon.  Thank you!!!

As for my choice it is still between Be My Escape by Relient K (motorcycles!!) and It’s Not Over by Daughtry( this would be for the last scene when they are talking by the tree). Than of course there is Animal I Have Become by Three Days Grace. Ok I am stopping I promise!!!  Post some new songs so I can see what I am missing!!

 ~~Be My Escape

PS- I Almost forgot to mention the Edward music poll!! So this was a very itneresting Poll because we ahd to have 2 poll boxes and in the first one Trip by Hedley won with 25% of the vote and in the second one it is nearly a tie with Fix You by Coldplay with 31% and What I’ve Done by Linkin Park with 33%.  Those are some serious numbers!!

FearNet Interviews David Slade

FearNet caught up with David Slade at the Dark Delicacies signing the other night and here is what he had to say in regards to Eclipse:

“…“I don’t really know.  We haven’t even started shooting yet.”  While the director says he has a basic idea of what he wants to do with it, he is more concerned with telling a good story than being “different.”  “It is darker, and there is a lot more action than the previous two,” he admits.  “The third book is from Bella’s point of view, but the film will be more objective.”  And just how will he do that?  “We are going to focus on the origin stories of several characters, like Jacob, and show how Bella will decide between Edward and Jacob.”

Taylor Lautner Red Wings Fan

Unfortunately Taylor Lautner’s movie magic did not rub off on his hometown hockey team, the Detroit Red Wings.

Taylor and his dad were there at game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals where the Red Wings lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a 2-1 heartbreaker.

Twilight Music News: Coldplay and Mutemath

Here is an interesting tidbit found on the Coldplay website in the Oracle section:

Q. Dear all-knowing Oracle: I heard a rumor that The Scientist by Coldplay (obviously) was going to be on the New Moon soundtrack. Is this true?
Peace, luv,
Julie <3

The Oracle replies:It’s very likely that a Coldplay song will end up on the soundtrack to the Twilight sequel given that Stephenie Meyer has credited Coldplay, amongst others, on the inner sleeve for “being instrumental in staving off the writer’s block”.

Of course nothing has been officially stated but as a fan which Coldplay song, new or old, do you think best fits with New Moon???

Now from a potential artist on the New Moon soundtrack to a group who contributed to the Twilght soundtrack!
